Good Riddance Granholm, what a stupid woman.
Detroit Regional Chamber Mackinac Policy Conference ^ | 06/08/10 | Detroit Regional Chamber

Posted on 06/08/2010 7:16:22 AM PDT by jenk

"In her last appearance at the Mackinac Policy Conference as the leader of Michigan, Governor Granholm addressed attendees Friday morning at the Mackinac Policy Conference."

Watch this moronic, surprised idiot lecture us (thankfully someone edited this down to 6 minutes) on how poorly Michigan is doing and try to come up with solutions after killing the state for 8 years.

Michigan is leading in unemployment and has been for 4 years.

We don't need advanced batteries, nobody is going to buy those cars.

We don't need solar, wind because we will be rationing electricity when the wind doesn't blow and the sun don't shine.

We don't need tourism, because everyone is so damn depressed, we can't find a reason to welcome people into economic devastation.

We don't need the film industry, if fact, they are finding that they don't need us.

One less socialist in power. Of course, this being Michigan, we’ll see if the replacement is any better.

Actually it was the ineptness of the last Republican campaign that lost that election. But if you are trying to say that cripplecreek and I voted her in, you are already irritating me.

My favorite line was when she said the economy was changing, and that manufacturing was no longer the #1 employer, HEALTH CARE is.

Unless they are getting out of staters to get treatment in MI in large numbers, that is not exactly productive.

A couple years back, Granholm was IN Japan when Honda announced that they were going to build a new US plant. A radio host asked if Granholm if she was going to meet with Honda officials to at least put in a “good word” for Michigan. She said no.

Stupid AND DANGEROUS!!!

Heck, the film industry really does have a need for a post-apocalypse
urban hell-hole as a back drop.
And boy Detroit and some other MI locals fill the bill.

“The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit” website is an amazing visual record
of the city that used to be and the wreck it has become.

>”We don’t need tourism,”

Works for me. The fact that Michigan is a Leftist state, run by Leftists who were voted in by Leftists, was THE determining factor that caused me to pick states WEST of Michigan. (Wisconsin, you lost out on that pick also).

I may not have any influence with the way you vote, but you sure as heck aren’t gonna get my money to use to elect more criminals.

My one and only government job was international trade development for the State of Ohio so I can vouch for the fact that the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio is there primarily because Gov. Jim Rhodes made an investment tour in Japan, met with Mr. Honda and the two of them hit it off like long lost brothers. After that the whole project moved like clockwork. Quite a lot of (successful) international business is based on personal relationships and trust.

Of course, considering we are talking about Granholm it may have been a leg up for Michigan that she didn't meet with Honda officials. Sending out a chief executive of a State who's an arrogant left wing nutcase bi*** is not exactly a strategy for success.

DeVos was beating her. His ideas were good and his campaign was good. What killed him was the debate - his speaking voice is less than commanding and Jenny turned on the ol’ actress charm and won the dufesses over. She didn’t have anything, she just came across better on stage, which is her training. Most Michiganders are egits. But not all of us.

LOL. She’s kind of cute, but she simply doesn’t get it.

GOVERNMENT is the problem in Michigan. All she has to do is get GOVERNMENT out of the way. Instead of all these “smart” liberals sitting around devising schemes to recreate Michigan’s economy, how about this? Cut taxes. Make Michigan a tax haven. Eliminate programs. Reduce regulation. Streamline government.

People work harder when they’re actually permitted to keep what they earn, business grows when productivity isn’t taxed into oblivion, and citizens act more responsibly when government doesn’t coddle them. Even at this stage, Michigan could be revived if her leaders had the guts to do what’s necessary.

What we need is a RTW state!...

That's fine by me...
Michigan has so many other problems, I don't know if that'll do much good anyway. But I've never been a union member, so it doesn't make any difference to me one way or the other.

Oh, BTW,and no choo choo trains.

That's OK with me too.
Although I advocate increased funding for passenger rail systems, resources are realisticly limited. And Michigan has so many other economic impediments that I think we'd all be better off (except Michigan, of course), if the available transit funding were invested elsewhere.

If you define deadbeat-Americans as "the people" ...yeah "they" did.

As long as the "progressive income tax" is the law of the land, there must at some point, be a requirement to show a tax form on which it is shown that some tax other than SS and medicare has been paid.

...no skin in the game, there can be no control over the game....

...otherwise, we are Zimbabwe bound.

I am certain that many of the people who "voted" for Mugabe in the '80's wish to God that they could change their vote now....

I was a Michigan FReeper a full 10 years before you signed up, noobie. I lived in The Thumb from '91 to a few months after 9/11. So don't pretend that you're the official FR censor... that act bores me to tears.

Constructive alternative?

Yes, constructive alternative.
Your vanity post whined about what you didn't need, but didn't propose any alternative solution.

How about reversing course on everything this marxist obamabot has been doing for 8 years. Sheesh, duh!

That's fine with me, but it is rather broad and vague and lacking in substance.

IMHO that's part of Michigan's problem.
Yes the 'Rats are clueless... but the GOP (at least the GOP that I remember: Engler, Abraham, Candy Miller and the Amway pinheads) didn't provide any viable alternatives. They were merely lockstep globalization lemmings, leading Michiganders over the economic economic.

So good riddance to Granholm... FINE... I agree with you there?

But what is the GOP proposing that will HELP you?
(I'll give you a clue: more "free trade" downsizing and outsourcing agreements like Bush/Cheney backstabbed you with ain't gonna help. And neither is flooding our borders with illegal immigrants like Spencer Abraham did.)

LOL. Thanks for the close up. I still find her attractive but thoroughly clueless on how to fix an economy.

Government “fixes” an economy by staying out of it (as much as possible). She seriously believes green jobs will save Michigan? Not possible. Green jobs can only exist when government distorts the market with heavy subsidies and oppressive regulation.

Leftists simply don’t understand that they aren’t brilliant enough to do what millions of thinking citizens continually do in a free market system. NO ONE, not even a Politburo of geniuses, is that smart. Believe me, Governor Granholm, it’s been tried...many times. It always comes up short against liberty.

Well, I’d like to think that when anybody responds to a posting such as yours, they are responding to the contents of the POST, and not attacking the poster.

In my response, I am referring to the general public of the State of Michigan. I don’t know you and can only gather that since you post here, you are PROBABLY on the right (at least I’d hope so).

If my choosing NOT to give any money to your Liberal state affects you personally, well, I am sad to hear that but it in no way changes my mind.

I’m sure that there are a few conservatives in Michigan (hopefully youre one of them), as there are exactly 3 (including me) in this Worthless State of Minnesota. When these states that support Socialism (or even worse) realize that they are being shunned by 50 % of the population, I would hope the voters will change their ways and start voting for more conservative leadership.

Yup. That would also explain the fact that I am not spending any money/vacation time in Minnesota, too.

Last 2 vacations we went to ALL Red states (Texas, Wyoming, S. Dakota), with the exception of a couple days in Colorado (on the way back). Last year, 2 weeks in South Dakota (Black Hills (Highly recommended)). This year, North Dakota and 2 weeks fly fishing in Montana with a visit to Glacier.

So, in answer to your sophomoric attempt at humor at my expense, allow me to add the fact that the ONLY money I’ll spend here in Liberal Minnesota on my vacation is for a tank of diesel to drag me and my RV OUT of this state. LOL.

I know, I know. It’s so sad. Same thing here in Mn. They could have a Liberal that they just elected stand there and beat them with a stick for a few years, and when elections come up, they’ll vote for the same liberal dumbass, because its what their father did, and his father before him, and etc etc etc.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe not. I can only say I just cant reward bad behavior. Now’s the time that these states and their people start taking responsibility for their decisions and actions.
