(CNN) -- The morning the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, a BP executive and a Transocean official argued over how to proceed with the drilling, rig survivors told CNN's Anderson Cooper in an exclusive interview.
The survivors' account paints perhaps the most detailed picture yet of what happened on the deepwater rig -- and the possible causes of the April 20 explosion.
The BP official wanted workers to replace heavy mud, used to keep the well's pressure down, with lighter seawater to help speed a process that was costing an estimated $750,000 a day and was already running five weeks late, rig survivors told CNN.
BP won the argument, said Doug Brown, the rig's chief mechanic. "He basically said, 'Well, this is how it's gonna be.' "

I heard quite a bit about this and it fit’s in well with the BP cultural of beating it’s slaves to row the boat faster.
Hidden in all of this is some sort of arcane EPA regulation restricting the amount of “brown mud” that can be used per day, or per well, or some stupid thing ~ or something along that line.
Actually I heard this before. And I would not be surprised that this is the way it happened?
I read the interview 60 minutes did with one of the survivors named Williams last week. He was in the room and sitting next to the exec and his story jives with this one.
If they’d sealed it up with the heavy mud, it would have just killed the crew of the completion rig when they drilled through the plug.

Speaking of 11 good men, have you seen any articles or photo montages or tributes to those men in any of the reporting on this disaster?
I haven’t seen a thing, but usually when there is a disaster with more than one or two fatalities (plane crash, train derailment, etc) the media trip all over themselves to do “human interest” stories on the victims and their families.
Maybe I’ve missed them, but I have not noticed a single such story about the 11 workers on that rig.

Not to mention they insisted on continuing even though the anular (the plug that keeps the oil down) was breaking apart and they were getting chunks of rubber out of the pump.
But let’s see that video again of the CEO saying ‘It wasn’t our fault, this was Transocean’s fault...”
The cavern of oil goes all the way inland under Alabama, etc.
It can pump 500,000 barrels a day for ten years!
That about one normal tanker a day.
About what one normal to large refinery can handle every day.
So right there, P O O F , instant under $2 gasoline.
Plus, that much less money for our enemies(the Saudis) to buy arms for their pals.
NOW, A FACE ON THE GULF BP BLOWOUT ~ This guy Chuck Hamel seems to have gotten BP all sensitized to BROWN MUD, and that’s exactly what precipitated this change from brown mud to seawater in the process of pumping cement into the oil well pipe structures to beef them up. That seems to be the consistent story but BP could not have gotten away with that demand if they had not gotten some sort of nod from the agencies of the Obama Administration,
