How does the state run “media” know if someone is an “expert”? Do college diplomas have “Expert” written on them now?

Perhaps Danny Pearl should have tried that just before they slaughtered him.

the US should break with its policy and begin talking to Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed group that the US calls a terrorist organization...

But of course... Years and years of talks with Iran itself has been so successful that obviously we should do the same thing with their henchmen...

I can see why they would suggest this. Hezbollah has been by far the most reasoned of Middle-East players. Everyone knows that.

Why not bring in Mahmoud Abbas to chair these meetings. One can only mourn the fact that Arafat is not still available. Maybe we could offer his wife more billions for her personal bank account, if she were to agree to mediate.

What would probably make these talks even more likely to work, is a human sacrifice during the opening of the talks. Obama should demand Bibi volunteer for this, or he would nuke Israel for non-compliance.

I mean, how much more absurd can it get anyway?

Brennan: U.S. Should Foster ‘Moderate Elements’ of the Terrorist Group Hezbollah
CNS News ^ | 5/24/2010 | Adam assandra
Posted on May 24, 2010 4:52:31 AM PDT by IbJensen

(CNSNews.com) – President Obama’s counterterrorism adviser John Brennan called Hezbollah a “very interesting organization” in remarks at the Washington-based Nixon Center on Tuesday. He also said the United States needs to “build up the more moderate elements” of tHezbollah which the State Department has designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).

Brennan previously called Hezbollah “an interesting case stud[y]” when speaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies last August.

In his August remarks, Brennan praised the evolution of Hezbollah as a political force, and seemed hopeful about engaging its members in dialogue. “Hezbollah started out as purely a terrorist organization back in the early ’80s and has evolved significantly over time,” Brennan said. “And now it has members of parliament, in the cabinet; there are lawyers, doctors, others who are part of the Hezbollah organization.”

During his remarks in Washington on Tuesday, Brennan again lauded Hezbollah’s transition from “purely a terrorist organization” to a legitimate political party.

“There (are) certainly the elements of Hezbollah that are truly a concern to us — what they’re doing. And what we need to do is to find ways to diminish their influence within the organization and to try to build up the more moderate elements,” he said.

Brennan has yet to provide specifics on how the United States should support the “moderate elements” of Hezbollah, or if such support could occur under current law.

Yeah, Hezbollah has been arming to the teeth in Southern Lebanan, most recently adding Scuds to it’s arsenal. Isn’t that an interesting organization. They’ve come a long way. /s

Methinks that one can obtain the title/label of “Middle East expert” by simply cutting an ad from a comic book and mailing in a check for .10 cent being most of these idiotic “Middle East experts” are charlatans and crackpots.

Yeah, I’ll “talk” to them. Just have them come in here, line up, and hold still for a few moments. I’ll be sending my opening round(s) of negotiation shortly...

so Ryan Crocker is supposed to be the best and most “experienced” Middle East expert that our puerile State Dept. has produced in recent years....

and he wants to kiss terrorist butts and enhance the power and prestige of Hezbollah

tell me why again we are not supposed to question the ‘patriotism’ of State Dept. hacks???

ok, Mr. Crocker, we will not question your patriotism.... it’s enough to say that your knowledge, judgment, decency, humanity, and elementary intelligence are all suspect!
