TRENTON, N.J. Former NFL lineman Jon Runyan has won the Republican primary election in New Jersey's 3rd Congressional district.
The retired Philadelphia Eagles player is a political neophyte who will face first-term Democratic Rep. John Adler in November.
Observers anticipating the matchup say it could be one of the most competitive and expensive races in the nation this year.
Adler easily won the Democratic primary in the southern New Jersey district.

Quick!
Anyone know the results for Somerset?
Haven’t been able to find downstate results for primary pitting Leonard Lance with his ridiculous sleazy commericals against his opponent, Dave Larsen, who got more Tea Party support than Lance, who actually got Gov. Christie’s support . (But maybe that was a week or so ago, before these ads starting playing which discredited him in the eyes of many.)Steve Malzberg gave Larsen his endorsement
, has him on his radio show as a guest, and roundly condemned Lance.
The GOP should use him to take away Pelousy’s gavel in November. There is no rat as big and mean as this guy. The look on their faces will be priceless. He was an awesome smashmouth left offensive tackle in both college and the pros.
If this is good for our side, GO Jon Runyan
Lance won handily, beating all three other candidates with 56% of the vote - on the other hand it was great to see Christie show up in Runyan’s headquarters to give a little speech as Runyan announced his victory - should be an exciting campaign against Adler.....
The Eagles’ practice facility is in that district. I’d guess that Runyan has a little more cache than the generic GOP candidate. It’s an R+1 district, if he runs a good campaign, he should win.
But that’s just some generic analysis on my part.
BTTT!
