Beware of Trojan Horses (Mod Lecture Series)
Free Republic
Posted on 06/09/2010 1:20:45 PM PDT by Admin Moderator
This is just a quick note to everyone. Lately, a lot of people have discovered a video that supposedly is by a Hawaii official that claims there is no Hawaii Birth Certificate for the President.
We have no idea as to the legitimacy of this claim however, we need to warn everyone that the source of this video is a group called The Council of Conservative Citizens. This is NOT a Conservative group, do not be fooled by the name. This group is a front group for a neo-Nazi group known as the National Alliance and is associated with Stormfront.
Sources such as this are not welcome at Free Republic for obvious reasons. If you see this video posted, please report it to us through the abuse button so we can remove it.
These groups have a history of creating front groups or websites to try to sneak into the mainstream. Another site that you may see a lot that works like this is the EU Times. From what we've found, they are associated with a pretty nasty European Neo-Nazi group.
We don't expect everyone to check every single source, especially as some do stay under the radar. Just stay vigilant and know that sites like this are out there.
That is all. You may return now to your regularly scheduled broadcast.

I took the headline to mean that there is a "trojan horse" embedded in the video.

Bump, and thanks. There is a ‘zero-day’ vulnerability in adobe/macromedia flash. I have personally updated to the latest version and have had no problems. It's a pain, but anyone who likes to watch videos should try it. The security flaw encompasses all major OS’s. Flash 10 is working, try to upgrade if it's stable on your system. /rant

I saw in the report below that President Obama was sending four hundred million dollars to terrorists in the Middle East whose primary objective is killing Jews.
Is it true that 0bama is monetarily supporting Terrorists and Nazis, or was that just faux news of hopeful Neo-Nazis?

The Council of Conservative Citizens has nothing Free Republic can use or wants. Any material from them will be pulled as it is discovered.

I’ve noticed the EU Times is a really bizarre news site. That person whose first name is “Storcha” (can’t remember one syllable last name) writes the most elaborate inflammatory stuff designed to totally alarm Americans. What is the agenda with these folks? Makes no sense to me other than generating traffic to the site.
To: Admin Moderator
Thank you. I’ve never heard of the first one but I have seen many articles in the EU Times and I had no idea. Good to know.

We don’t have any control over those, but I suspect it is because the primary is over. Like poker, you play the hand you are dealt.
To: Admin Moderator
Somebody has control of the fundraiser "ads". I notice the anti-iCarly ads seemed to have been dropped. Are we going pro-RINO now?
Are we now the Semi-Free Republic?

Are we going pro-RINO now? The big dog made it clear the answer to that is hell no. However, that race isn't an active race right now and I suspect that it is just to focus on what race is active.

Given that the claim might still deserve some detective work... For the record the claim was made supposedly by a “Tim Adams” who purportedly is now teaching in Western Kentucky, in case anyone wants to vet Tim Adams...
I did find a Facebook page for a Tim Adams who “likes” (as they say on Facebook) the Kentucky Derby. Not much to go on for what is probably a very common name.
To: LucyT
Hopefully a more reputable person/group will interview Adamas.

When video aps present security breaches (and I agree some do), then the video software is doing things (like reporting viewing habits back to home) that it has no right or legitimate reason to be involved in.
To: a fool in paradise
The security flaw that is currently open and in the wild, no Mac users are not immune, involves Adobe reader as well as flash. Linux user users, you too. The main proliferation as of a few days ago seemed to be embedded flash files in pdfs. Try to upgrade if you can. I provide no link, it's working for me can't help you if it doesn't because it's not a ‘stable’ release. Update and or disable/uninstall flash everyone. They will fix this.

With regards to the flash vulnerability, yes. The update/upgrade for the flash has no inbuilt uninstaller yet but it works for me in this windows box, I'll test later on Linux.

So the advice then it to “turn off” Flash, since the code itself cannot be uninstalled? Only a new patch laid in?
To: a fool in paradise
Uninstall/disable and see if the latest build works, it seems to be immune. This is some serious s***.

This is just a quick note to everyone. Lately, a lot of people have discovered a video that supposedly is by a Hawaii official that claims there is no Hawaii Birth Certificate for the President. Yes, the guy is Tim Adams in that video/webcast says he now works at Western Kentucky U. in the graduate program.
He appears to be real, and if he is for real, I suspect he will give another outlet an audience besides stormfront.
To: pissant
It doesn’t matter. If he is legit, he can give his information and/or interview to a legit source. Until then, Stormfront and The National Front and other Aryan Nation type groups are not allowed here, period. Your post links to the Stormfront video so we are pulling.
To: Admin Moderator
Understood. I just wanted to let you know that the story is starting to spread. So expect to see posts about this Adams guy in the near future w/o that baggage.
