Alvin Greene , the surprise South Carolina Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, was kicked out of the Army last year and is facing a pending felony charge, according to court records obtained by ABC News.

Greene, who has yet to enter a plea or be indicted, was arrested in November and charged with "disseminating, procurring or promoting obsenity" in Richland County, S.C., near the University of South Carolina. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Earlier today, the 32-year-old military veteran told ABC News that he has been unemployed and living in his rural hometown 60 miles south of Columbia since August, when he was involuntarily forced out of the Army after a 13 year career because "things just weren't working… it was hard to say."

I must be getting soft. Although I don’t want the guy to win, it would have been nice to see a homeless veteran get a leg up on things, and perhaps a job arising out of his failed election campaign.

Especially after being in the service for so many years. I’m curious as to what the charges were about. Would that include showing a Hustler magazine to some other homeless guy under the bridge that turned out to be under 21?

Well, I guess it will all come out. Not much smarts if he was discharged for less than honorable deeds plus a nasty arrest record and still he goes into politics. Although, Obama sure didn’t seem to worry about all of his dirty laundry.

He will “bow out” in October and the EMOcrats will pull another Torricelli.

Sadly being kicked out of the Army and facing a felony charge, for disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity is a resume enhancement to many on the Democrat left

No media bias here. You go to the article and they show a picture of Nikki Haley. That had to have been purely unintentional, just a coincindence, right?

"How did this guy get any votes, let alone win the Democrat primary?"

His opponent is for Obama Care. South Carolina is sending a message - WE DON'T WANT IT!!!!

South Carolina is just making sure the Republican candidate wins. They are way ahead in this next election.

They will have their man in place to fight against the dreaded Obama Care.

Here are some interesting aspects:

- The cause for the military having issues? The current story is that 32-year-old Alvin Greene was arrested in November 2009 ....charged with showing obscene Internet photos to a University of South Carolina student....we aren’t sure about the age of the student or even if it was a female.

- Then he comes up with cash to run a campaign against fairly competent Democratic candidate. Greene was a virtual nobody. So who gave him cash? If I were guessing....someone on the Republican support side and wanting a confused situation for Democrats in the fall. Voters didn’t ask questions...and the media just sat there and believed everything that Greene said.

This is a comical event and probably ought to be made into a movie.

It is funny but also insane. Rome before the fall had to have been more sane than O’s “Zimbabwe-America.”

An involuntary honorable discharge? So he was either incapable of physically performing his duties, or psychologically incapable of performing his duties. I’m going out on a limb and saying it’s probably the latter considering that he’s unwilling to explain it. (The only other way to get an involuntary honorable discharge is to have a general discharge “promoted” to honorable later on as an act of clemency.) I’m curious what his MOS was in the Army.

Clearly he is a leading-edge Democrat candidate. Besides isn’t the CBC pushing to have any Congressional ethics reviews disbanded? Just in time for Greene.

He had served as an intelligence specialist in the Air Force and later as a unit supply specialist in the Army.

I'll bet he was kicked or at least "encouraged to leave" the Air Force as well. Intell specialists are hard to come by, and they've invested a lot in their training before they become really useful. They try real hard to keep 'em once they've got them trained.
