I agree that her hull may still be sound. Wasn’t there a boat in the Whitbread a couple of years ago that pitch-poled and they survived inside the capsized hull until rescue?
If you aren’t an optimist, never leave land.
Me on the ocean.
Prayers.
Sweet photo. I used to crew, 1980’s or so, on an Oyster 35 and a J-29. We did the Annapolis to Bermuda trip a couple of times on the Oyster. I’m old Infantry, so the sea is not my first choice, I was built for land battles. Damn Ocean can scare the hell out of you at a moments notice, but running at speed, first light, and alone at the wheel makes it worth the Foxtrot Mikes moments.
Excellent dude!
: )
Try surfing the Wedge at 10ft...and you might get killed.
I surfed it maybe 3 times..when the swell was just right.
Those were the days......
of course not....but the maturity of some is not the maturity of others.
People who aren’t adventurous will never understand those that are.
can they GPS locate her by the EPIRBs?
True, but you do realize that your comparison was weak..
People who arent adventurous will never understand those that are.
Perhaps not, but this has nothing to do with a parents responsibility to his children.
People who arent adventurous will never understand those that are.
Bunk!
THE ADOLESCENT BRAIN -- WHY TEENAGERS THINK AND ACT DIFFERENTLY--
For many years it was thought that brain development was set at a fairly early age. By the time teen years were reached the brain was thought to be largely finished. However, scientists doing cutting-edge research using magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, have mapped the brain from early childhood into adulthood and found data contrary to these beliefs. It now appears the brain continues to change into the early 20's with the frontal lobes, responsible for reasoning and problem solving, developing last.
Fifty to sixty foot seas?
Holy Moly!!
Well, hopefully, they’ll get to her. I feel sorry about it.
But I’m not gonna shed a tear for her parents. Completely brain dead to even think about letting her try it.
Jeesh! This is like letting a tenth grader do open heart surgery on himself because he did a good job dissecting a hamster...
It wasn’t weak, some people can do amazing things at young ages. Clara Barton was the first young female that came to mind.
Hmmmm wow, since the gov said it I guess that makes it definite. I usually agree with most of what you post, but we’ll agree to disagree on this one. Isn’t it generally accepted that Mary the mother of Jesus was under 16? Yet, I think we all agree we wouldn’t trust any 16 year old we know with that kind of responsibility?
Not every 16 year old can do it, but I don’t think it was irresponsible for the parents to let this one do it.
Don’t let your own kids do it. I won’t when mine is that age. But I’m not going to be hard on the parents when they gave her the resources and training to be able to do what she dreamed of doing.
I can't agree. This is a self-indulgent quest that benefits no one. Except her. If she's still alive. And if the weather doesn't clear it will endanger those searching for her. There are times when parents should say "NO".
I can't believe you equated this kids selfish quest with Jesus' mother.........
Big difference between 1 and 16.
I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
Oh, I understand how treacherous that area is. Some people just have the drive to try to conquer nature. Not me. I am a sis.
Yes, and apples and oranges are both fruits.
It’s winter down there, too.
I was talking about brains...some are more developed than others....
You can be hard on them from your computer not knowing anything else about them. I’m not going to -
Good day.
