Dear Helen Thomas, we Jews aren't getting the hell out of anywhere anymore
haaretz ^ | 6/10/10 | Sara K. Eisen

Here’s the thing. I’ve been thinking about poor Helen Thomas, who I believe was probably just saying what everyone thinks and has therefore been made a scapegoat. Not that I really care, because we ought to share the scapegoat status once in a while. It’s the least we can do to dispel the stereotype that we are stingy, us irritating Jews.

Irritating enough, apparently - like the too-talented and too-bossy fame-hog Rachel Berry on Glee - in our discovery of the written word, monotheism, modern physics, psychology, vaccinations, and the film industry, that every country that has ever “hosted” us has found it necessary to tell us to get the hell out, like Thomas did. (Ironically, the aforementioned Jewish Glee character Rachel, in a particularly annoying moment in one episode, was told by classmates to move to Israel. I doubt the writers coordinated this telling joke with the State Department - sorry J Street, Jews do equal Israel in the eyes of the world.)

If you look carefully at what she wrote, she implies falsely that Christians have some kind of ongoing grudge towards the Jews. (I.e. that the Muslims have now “caught up” with them. Excuse me, read your bible; it’s a problem which dates back to Ishmael and Isaac. Modern Christianity generally has no beef with the idea of not just “tolerating” but actually blessing the Jewish race.)

They are a stiff-necked and rebellious people but He has made his covenant and will not forsake them.

She’s right about them not going anywhere this time... I believe soon they will apprehend why.

That is quite outside of what I mentioned, although they do get divinely chastised when they forget who has helped them (God doesn’t forget, though).

The stiff neck might refer to ignoring the blessing the church (the real Church) has bestowed on them in honor of God’s covenant.

They tend to forget divine favor and repaint their history as though they had engineered their own luck; even when thinking of what God has done there is a tendency to think of how they somehow earned it after all. The church’s help in times past and today is part of that, but not all of it. If all had been left to luck and merit, there would not be an identifiable Jewish people today.

Helen Thomas is so yesterday, like a pile of steaming dog crap that is slowing turning gray and dried out.

Gee, that description also fits Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer (she’s really aged in a week), and the queen of hair styles, Maxine “Red” Waters.

Small world isn’t it.

They are an admirable people- so torn by world events and discrimination- yet still a reasonably cohesive, effective and purposeful extended nation.

The faithful Jewry- whether Ashkenazic or Sephardic awaits the Messiah.

The faithful will not be disappointed, though they might be surprised.

Isaiah read carefully establishes our eternal bond, IMHO.

Their faith in the face of adversity makes me admire the Israelites. They are no different in terms of being sinners in need of salvation like you and I.

The oppressed who have faith reveal the glory of God.

Well, Sara burns through a lot of history while committing flashbacks and flashforwards, so she glossed right over modern Christianity's relationship with modern Judaism.

I think she was a little too angry to be careful rather than antagonistic, but I see your point.

Faith, too, is given as a gift when God is ready to do it and it often is under circumstances that scarcely serve as a compliment to those who exercise the faith.

It may be useful to note in a theological-sociological context that Barack Obama has more Arab (Ishmael) in him than he has black, and his supposed Christian testimony from when he was a candidate is about as elaborately fake as I have ever seen in any of my contemporaries. Even Her Barfiness, Nancy Pelosi, comes closer.

That kind of belies the predestination vs. free will argument.

I’m more than willing to pursue that in a friendly discourse but I have to work tomorrow.

Take care and God Bless.

Call me a Cal-minian, perhaps. Usually that argument forgets that God has more vectors of causation available to Him than we customarily see in this four dimensional space-time continuum. At the same time, the fact that our wills are not totally free now is an obvious observation (ask anyone trying to kick a bad habit).

Not bad for a Haaretz writer. She’s still got a long way to go, though. If she just from that rag and writes for Yisrael Hayom, we’ll know she’s finally been cured of Haaretz-itis. In the interim, don’t trust her. She’s still one of them.

And the Turks should get the Hell out of Asia Minor and go back to the steppes of Asia!

And the Franks need to get the hell out of France and move back to Eastern Europe!

And the Normans need to get the hell out of France and move back to Norway!

And the Japanese need to get the hell out of Japan and go back to mainland Asia!

And us Americans need to get the hell out of America and go back to Europe!

LOL! So....as ridiculous as the above sounds, why should different rules apply to the Jewish people? I know why.

The Arabs, of whom Helen Thomas is a descendent, should get the H*** back to the Arabian Peninsula from which they emerged, warring into other neople’s territories, about 1400 years ago.

They took over Berber lands in North Africa, Phoenecian lands in Lebanon, Assyrian lands in Syria, Chaldean lands in Iraq.

The indigenous people in these lands are still there, but in smaller numbers. In many cases, they can still be identified by adherence to Christianity which was their religion (by choice) before the required submission to Allah.

Helen needs to deport herself back to Saudi Arabia, where her status as a Dean of Reporters will be duly noted.

Are you SURE you want to walk down that kind of you-can’t-divorce-yourself-from-your-institutional-past road... let’s not even mention the call for the crucifixion of Christ, how about the stoning of Stephen? (Both victims called for the forgiveness of their enemies, if you didn’t notice. Any Christian failing to heed those calls is a disobedient Christian.)

You can sit in your miserable little corner and play blame games all you want, but don’t complain when you miss what Jesus Christ is all about.
