Pelosi: We'll stop blaming Bush when problems go away By Michael O'Brien - 06/11/10 09:31 AM ET
Democrats will keep blaming George W. Bush until the problems from his administration end, according to Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
In an interview with MSNBC, Pelosi said congressional Democrats feel justified in blaming the Bush administration because of the problems it left behind for President Barack Obama.
Asked if there was a statute of limitations on blaming Bush, Pelosi said: "Well, it runs out when the problems go away."
"He brought us to the brink of financial crisis, he brought us to the brink of deep recession, ignoring issues related to climate change," said Pelosi (D-Calif.), who rattled off a number of problems she said Democrats inherited from Bush and are trying to fix.
Republicans have criticized Democrats for playing the Bush blame game, a successful political strategy for Democrats in the 2006 and 2008 elections.
The GOP argues it is time for Obama, in office for nearly 18 months, to take responsibility for some of the country's problems, from the Gulf oil spill to the huge budget deficit. Democrats have been in charge of Congress for nearly three and a half years.
Pelosi's criticism of Bush is routine. In press releases, her office often mentions efforts Democrats have taken to help the economy recover from a recession that began during Bush's presidency, her statements emphasize.
Pelosi and Democrats more recently have pinned blame for the BP oil spill on lapses at the Minerals Management Service (MMS), the regulatory agency in charge of preventing accidents. Democrats argue the Bush administration let MMS be overtaken by people who ties to the oil industry.
The speaker's strong remarks come as the former Republican president has begun to reemerge in the public spotlight, defending his policies in the war on terror, and promoting his work on earthquake relief in Haiti and establishing his library and foundation.
Pelosi pinned some of the opposition she's facing on a "continuation" of Bush-area policies in congressional Republicans, a group which has repeatedly emphasized that they would seek to break with some of their past ways if they return to power this fall.
"It's a continuation of the Bush policies in the Congress," she said, pointing to the GOP's opposition to healthcare reform, financial regulatory reform, and energy and climate legislation. "But they have their roots and the problems were caused in the Bush administration."
So in other words, they’re going to blame Bush forever.
Maybe these democrats will rant and rave so much that people will get so sick and tired of hearing it which will translate to being voted out of office !
Politics of personal destruction.
Culture of corruption.
Drain the swamp.
Pelosi is batshit crazy.
The Kenyan-Pelosi-Reid had a time limit on fixing things. They’re making them worse.
This won’t poll well.
***So in other words, theyre going to blame Bush forever.**
Obviously, the problems created by the 2006 Dem Congressional majority, Fannie & Freddie and 16 months of BO, are incurable.
There’s your answer;)
Problems won’t “go away” until those currently in power make them go away. Until then, those currently in power are responsible for maintaining these problems or making them worse.
In other words, “When hell freezes over.” Nancy, we GET it. You can take it to the bank and write checks on it — we GET it.
This woman is certifiably insane. She and her cohorts have created all the problems.
I worcester they got rid of basketball coach after one season. Not getting job done. Neither is obama and hes had 17 months of this circus act hoodwinked, chaos, staged, corrupt, fruad, get the picture tclean up the mess. The oil spill is 100 percent the crisis and distraction they needed for the new worder order plans
“BDS............”
Actually, it’s just taking advantage of a very clever tactic by the left and the State Controlled Media. They demonized Bush, and made him look like an idiot, or an evil genius, whichever the situation called for.
I think Pelosi, and those that worked with Mr. Bush know he’s a decent, capable leader who did well, but made mistakes. However, the left and the SCM successfully convinced many of the sheeple that Bush is the devil himself.
Politicians use anything they can to keep their power, that’s what the evil b*tch is doing.
Of course!
When you have no clue and no qualifications, what else can you do? Seriously?
The mark of poor leadership and management is not taking responsibility. After 18 months of the ineptitude of the 0bama regime, I doubt anyone but the idiot left are buying the argument that it's Bush's fault. 0bama, Pelosi and Reid have owned these problems since January 2009.
Between Pelosi and Reid, I can’t think of two people more out of touch with reality. Now with an earlier thread examining 0bama’s psyche, it’s quite clear the nuts have indeed taken over the nuthouse.
Two Thirds of the “Problems” go away January 24th, 2011.
....when Nancy and her co-connspirators leave office.
Actually, I think it will poll well with the liberal base of the Dem. party. It’s their only hope of getting any of their voters to go vote. But, it won’t poll well with the other eighty-five percent of America.
The problem is this lunatic/semi senile woman represents a district that is probably more lunatic than she herself, which makes her practically undefeatable. Or she would have been flushed out with the rest of the crud within the next couple of election cycles.
They’ve been blaming Hoover for FDR’s wreckage for eighty years. Don’t expect the Bush-blaming to end any time soon.
So according to Pelosi, the longer Democrats prove incapable of fixing the problems they “inherited” from Bush the more people should elect Democrats. I assume that if asked, Pelosi would assume that if they did fix the problems they “inherited” from Bush that people should elect Democrats as well.
In short, according to Pelosi, the people should elect Democrats regardless of their ability to fix “inherited” problems. Sounds to me like she is just power hungry and going after Bush is her way to grab power.
I’d settle for just getting her out of the Speaker’s chair. She can then be marginalized.

Bush made me take the bigger jet and charge all of those drinks/food to the taxpayers for me and my entourage.
“He brought us to the brink of financial crisis, he brought us to the brink of deep recession, ignoring issues related to (UNICORNS, SANTA CLAUSE AND DRAGONS),” said Pelosi (D-Calif.), “
I do believe that’s what she meant to say.
Here is a better idea, Pelousi. Hows about we make YOU go away instead, by taking the Speaker's hammer out of your hands come November, and kicking Dingy Harry Reid out of power? That way, you can mutter to yourself, “It's Bush's fault” all day long every day, while those who can really do something about the country, set about fixing the country over 0bozo’s ineffectual, confused regime?
But Nancy, Your magic Kenyan guru was supposed to wave his wand and make everything okay.
when she and the Rats took control of congress the unemployment rate was 5%
Why not? They blamed Hoover for 60 years.
She is insane! After that lecture on ‘the WORD’ I am totally convinced, she is certifiable!
As much as I despise Pelosi, she does have a point.
But her cure is worse than Bush’s sickness.
So, .... she’s still a nut.
You need another one to be used in times of major crisis- on one side it needs to say DO NOTHING and on the other side it should say PLAY GOLF.
At least until the start of the Palin adminstration.
You're doing a heckuva job, Nancie!
Well, that removes her from any responsibility for trying to solve any problems.
Brilliant Nancy !!!!!!!!!
Someone needs to step up and remind the mafia princess that her guilt will be known - soon.
I may be wrong, but I never heard Bush blame Clinton for any of the ills of his administration.
And we jumped.
Well, the Obama administration is blaming BP for the oil blowout and expecting BP to clean it up. I wonder why they’re not asking Dubya back to be president so he can clean up what they think he messed up. It’s the same principle.
It's a deal. We'll help you pack.
“It’s a continuation of the Bush policies in the Congress,”
I don’t recall Pres. Bush getting his way with “policies in the Congress” other than protecting the homeland.
In fact, I seem to recall Pres. Bush trying to do something about Fannie/Freddie (the effects of which snowballed into every area of our economy) and being lambasted by the very ones who were profiting from the scam.
And he tried to do something about SS reform and was tarred and feathered for that.
As far as HCR - Americans overwhelming DO NOT want the kind of so-called reform that has been forced upon them, so go ahead and keep shouting that one as loudly as you can dems.
Same with the global warming scam.
She's found the perfect venue (her district) for the unchallenged perpetuation of her delusional belief that she has all the answers. Most of what she has supported legislatively benefits lifestyles and professions that those close to her (e.g. her children) have, and she doesn't appear to give a rats *ss about those with different opinions than hers. In my view, she is blinded by her ideology and narcissism.
I’m guessing when President Palin is elected in 2012, turns the economy around in 2014 by cutting taxes along with cutting expenses, leading to a huge economic boom in 2016, Nancy Pelosi and company will most certainly take credit.
What does that shirt say?
