California Now the Least-Educated State (because of immigration)
PR Newswire / Center for Immigration Studies ^ | June 10, 2010

Posted on 06/12/2010 5:37:32 AM PDT by reaganaut1

In 1970, nine percent of California's population was comprised of immigrants; by 2008 it was 27 percent. A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) finds that as a result of immigration, California now has the least-educated labor force of any state. Historically, California was not a state with a disproportionately large unskilled population, like Appalachia or parts of the South. However, immigration has transformed the state. Absent a change in immigration policy, other parts of the country may be transformed in a similar fashion.

The report, "A State Transformed: Immigration and the New California," can be found at http://www.cis.org/california-education. Among the findings:

* In 1970 California had the 7th most educated work force of the 50 states in terms of the share of its workers who had completed high school. By 2008, it ranked 50th, making it the least-educated state. One in six workers in the state has not graduated high school.

* The decline in education in California is large relative to other states. The percentage of Californians who have completed high school has increased since 1970; however, all other states made much more progress in improving education levels. As a result, California has fallen behind the rest of the country.

* The large relative decline in education in California is a direct result of immigration. Without immigrants, the share of California's labor force that has completed high school would be above the national average.

* There is no indication that California will soon close the educational gap. California ranks 35th in terms of the share of its 19-year-olds who have completed high school. Moreover, one-third of the adult immigrants who settled in the state in 2007 and 2008 had not completed high school, adding 91,000 new unskilled adults to the state.

The California Assembly and Governor are too busy worrying about plastic bags being used in grocery stores, the kind of light bulbs we use, flat screen TVs using too much energy, chasing business out of the state because of taxes, taxes, and more taxes, and any other insanity they can think up. The state of CA is being run by RAT and RINO morons.

“With white Americans’ fertility slightly below replacement level, effectively all population growth in the U.S. is coming from lower-IQ groups. This will have disastrous long-term consequences.”

Idiocracy...just look around California and see all the buttheads and morons the American Idol masses have elected.

But, but it can’t be. Everybody/LIBs just know that the enlightened states have the best schools and the South has the worst. CA will fit right in with the rest of Mexico.

More IQ BS. It’s culture, not “race”, which is even less meaningful in CA than any other place in the US. Oh, BTW, which race was dumb enough to allow unprepared people to take control of the government?

Thank you for bravely pointing out the elephant in the living room...IQ. The elites cheerfully report about how whites will be the minority someday. As if they’re saying, “Well, there will be fewer people with hazel eyes someday!” or “people of the Astrological sign of Scorpio are going to be the majority; isn’t that interesting and fun?!” You know, as if whites dwindling is just a fun fact that doesn’t affect anything, as if everyone is interchangeable.

I have lived in California for decades, and I have seen the transformation happen. It is overwhelming and heartbreaking.

Fox News is running a poll about whether the American flag should be banned in schools in order not to “inflame” Hispanic students.

Even better-—I say let’s ban Hispanic students in American schools.

Those who stupidly bought into the "here for a better life" scam better wakeup.
We have been invaded by a bunch of blood-thirsty savages ready to pounce if
we dare protest. Read on.

Amnesty whores itemize why they oppose Arizona's law at Phoenix Capital protest, May 29, 2010. This comes straight out of the Mexican government's handbook taught in US schools.

WHAT THE INVADERS ARE LEARNING IN US SCHOOLS Accuracy in Academia investigated "ethnic studies" and uncovered damaging material in the high schools of Tuscon, Arizona. Paulo Freire (a Brazilian Marxist)'s book called Pedagogy of the Oppressed is required reading in Arizona's "Raza Studies" (ie, Race Studies), otherwise known as "Mexican-American courses."

Another favorite is "Occupied America" by Rodolfo Acuna, professor of Chicano Studies at California State University in Northridge. "Occupied America," according to the invaders, includes a map of Mexico in 1821 which includes the American Southwest. A choice quote from "Occupied America." It gives us an idea of material Hispanic students are being exposed to in Arizona public schools: "We are fed up. We are going to do away with the injustice to the Chicano and if the 'gringo' doesn't get out of our way, we will stampede over him."

Another priceless gem: "(The Mexican speaker) attacked the gringo establishment angrily at a press conference and called upon Chicanos to "Kill the gringo,' which meant to end white control over Mexicans."

THIRD WORLDERS HATE AMERICA AND AMERICANS The savages vow to "Kill the gringo! Stampede over him! Rise up and overthrow the White oppressor in a bloody Communist insurrection! "

=========================================

SO HOW COME PRESIDENT CALDERON DIDN'T ITEMIZE THAT
OPPOSITION TO ARIZONA LAW WHEN HE ADDRESSED CONGRESS?

Guess he knew he would not get a standing ovation. ROTFLMCO

“With white Americans’ fertility slightly below replacement level, effectively all population growth in the U.S. is coming from lower-IQ groups. This will have disastrous long-term consequences. It contributed to the housing bubble and the election of a leftist like Barack Obama.”

Don’t forget it was your supposedly high IQ white folks who put Hitler in power and then got down to the real work of global domination and extermination of the world’s Jews.

Besides, you misrepresent Barack’s supporters. The best educated people in America overwhelmingly supported the Obamination.

All the Hispanics need is to believe in the American dream: that hard work and education will lead to great success, and they will soar. It’s not a genetic problem, it’s a cultural one.

...as if everyone is interchangeable.

This has been an elitist fantasy for decades. Of course, the elitists exclude themselves from this formula by definition.

If I believed that IQ is a valid measure of intelligence, I'd be curious to see who participated in the study you mention. However, I believe the low educational achievement level is more reflective of environmental circumstances than some sort of inherent handicap.

I suspect that white liberals with a misplaced sense of guilt, as well as pinkos from every color of the rainbow, were largely responsible for Bambi’s election, independent of IQ.

I believe that Virginia is now the most educated state in terms of holders of advanced degrees in general, although New Mexico has more PhDs per capita (largely due to Los Alamos and the VLA.

Good point. A culture that doesn't place a premium on education and self-improvement will yield sub-standard results.

Additionally, as part of a stable and healthy family, parents have to take an active role in their children's education. That's never been more important than today, given the current educational climate. Unfortunately, many children from the two minority people groups the OP mentions don't come from a conducive learning environment.

That is true, but it is also true that the Democrats have not won the white vote in a presidential election since Johnson defeated Goldwater in 1964. That's what I was referring to.

The excerpt doesn’t mention the quality of the high school education the children are receiving. It also doesn’t mention that children have been moved through the system regardless of their understanding of basic school subjects. If I had to guess, the situation is far worse for everybody.

Damn....just damn....

There, fixed. Democrats have been dumbing down America for half a century now. (See: Free Speech Movement - Berkeley)

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Let’s exclude students based on what they look like or where their ancestors came from. /sarc

I’d have to point out that the article (at least the excerpt) just talks about people who’ve completed high school. This includes adult immigrants who don’t have a high school education. A state with a small population and a high proportion of people with advanced degrees (I believe a poster mentioned New Mexico has the highest amount of PhDs per capita due to Los Alamos and something else) would rank highly on this list irrespective of the educational level of its students. I suspect California has a larger amount of people with advanced degrees, but they constitute a smaller portion of the population.

..I expect that any mass deportation would have to be at gunpoint and the illegals will resist at gunpoint...that’ll light the fuse for the coming wars of secession/partition.
