Barack Obama has made me want to boycott America
Telegraph ^ | 6/12/10 | Alex Singleton

The special relationship is over. We gave America years of unwavering support after September 11. And now we see how Barack Obama’s administration repays us.

First, Obama declared that America was “neutral” over the sovereignty of the Falklands, ignoring the clear wishes of the islands’ population. And, second, his Assistant Secretary of State, Philip Crowley, snubbed Britain by failing to use their proper name and instead calling them the “Malvinas”.

I don’t know where Obama learned about diplomacy, but his stinks. I’m normally pro-American, but Mr Obama’s seeming support for Argentinian aggressors, who have no legitimate claim over the Falklands, is gratuitously offensive. So from today, I’m boycotting America as a tourist destination. This summer, I’ll be going to France, not California.

Did the Hill-Bag really say "Malvinas"?

Every day a new reason to hold these people in a new level of contempt.

I did not know that. What an embodiment of evil is the totus. I no longer shake my head because my muscles hurt.

Most of us (Americans) feel the same way. We’ll throw him and his out as soon as we can, but it may take a while. Sorry for the delay. If you hear sounds of warfare, just stay clear until they subside.

So I guess this is the end of all that "We LOVE Americans, it's just Bush we hate" stuff?

I have to say, while I applaud anyone for stepping up and dumping on Obama, it's getting a little tiring to read these little tantrums from Brits. After years of hearing them denounce us for not being believers of Global Warming/Cooling/Climate Change, now they're saying you can't attack BP because it'll hurt those who're invested in them, or have BP stocks in their portfolios.

Drudge linked to an article from some Brit commentator that shows all the awful things America has done to the UK, and what really caught my eye was how we entered the world wars late and that our losses weren't much compared to Britain's. It never occurs to these folks that our people died by the thousands to save THEIR land--we weren't in any immediate danger. (I'm not against our fighting in these wars, and of course we would have ended up fighting WW2 sooner or later--that's not the issue.)

I think the soccer thing today just shows how mature the British are, after always sniffing at everything American for decades, or centuries. Seems they can be just as childish as anyone else--which, of course, would be a devastating blow were they to admit that to themselves.

I think Americans on the whole respect the British but don't like them, while the British like Americans but don't respect them. Obama is just the latest opportunity for them to come out in the open with what some have long suspected.

Gots to bow to Muslims though.

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN – JUNE 6: U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates (R) bows as he shakes hands with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, General-Colonel Safar Abiyev on the tarmac at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport June 6, 2010 in Baku, Azerbaijan. On the table in front of Aliyev is a letter from President Barack Obama. Gates left Singapore earlier today after participating in the Shangri-La Dialogue’s Asia Security Summit, which ran from June 4 to 6, 2010. DL

I’m somewhat ambivalent about this rant. But France? really? They honestly helped you out greatly in WWII. And you don’t even speak their language. The Falklands? a last vestige of a sunsetted Empire. You don’t speak their language, either.

The FEW will control the masses. There really is no where to escape.

Are these the end times, who knows?

Many contend that the possibility of anarchy is very much in the air.

I think Americans on the whole respect the British but don't like them, while the British like Americans but don't respect them.

I visited Exeter University in the summer of 1975, and the brief intercourse this entailed with British youth culture led me to the observation that we ARE the Brits, with minor variations that tend to make this fact obscure to us. Take for example, Bugs Bunny. Qunitessentialy American, right? But British through and through, if you look deep.

G. B. Shaw said it, "One people, separated by a common language."

I've never believed that, but you've had more exposure to them in their batural habitat, while I've encountered quite a few Brits in the wild (America). Can't say I cared much for 'em, tho' that may be my Irish ancestry coming through. Fell very hard for one British girl, but was lured away by an Aussie... :P
