Democrats Have Secret Plan for November
Newsmax ^ | June 13th, 2010

Posted on 06/13/2010 10:47:18 AM PDT by shield

Political analysts are predicting a huge win for Republicans in November's congressional elections, but some Democrats believe they have a secret plan to stave off a crushing Republican landslide.

That’s the analysis from Newsweek magazine’s Andrew Romano, who writes that “the Democrats in charge are actually rather confident about getting their fellow Dems elected this year. The reason? They have a plan — a plan that they believe will produce much better results on Election Day than anyone expects.”

The first element of that plan is the return of Obama’s former campaign manager David Plouffe, who left politics after Obama’s election win. At the president’s request, he is now communicating on a regular basis with the Democratic National Committee on campaign strategy.

Plouffe’s top priority is to get many of the 15 million people who voted for the first time in 2008, and largely supported Obama, back to the polls this year. His main weapon is the 13-million-name e-mail list from the Obama campaign now available to the DNC.

The focus on individual elections for Democrats will be “keep it local,” according to Romano. “While Republicans hammer away at national themes targeted at right-wing activists, Democrats plan to focus on bread-and-butter regional concerns like jobs.”

Democrats also believe that the emergence of tea party challengers in GOP primaries will help their candidates attract moderate voters. A tea party candidate who wins the primary will drive moderates toward the Democrat in the general election, the thinking goes, and a tea partyer who loses will likely have forced the winning Republican to move further to the right and possibly alienate moderate voters.

That's kind of a contradiction in terms. Most of the 15 million new voters who voted for 'The Won' couldn't care less about jobs.

Or in other words, it’ll be one big exercise in self-delusion. Remember that Rahm, Nanny, and Dingy promised their wobbly members that their poll number would rise once Obamacare was passed. Well, all they’ve seen so far is a dead cat bounce.

“While Republicans hammer away at national themes targeted at right-wing activists, Democrats plan to focus on bread-and-butter regional concerns like jobs.”

So it's the strategy of both the Republicans and the Democrats to hammer away at the Democrats' weaknesses.

That should work very well!

I bet my bottom dollar most of these 1st time voters just wanted "to make history" electing the 1st "black" Potus.

They couldn't be bothered voting in any other election, including previous Presidential one's.....let alone for these elections......(probably with all the annoying commercials that disrupt their tv time).

Good luck poofer!!

I get emails from the RNC and several PAC's. They all go right where I want them...unopened and into my spam folder. I suspect that many (most) people, liberal or conservative, do the same thing.

I disagree...

I think they know and anticipate a republican victory, and that is part of their plan.

Once the republicans BARELY have control after November,
ALL HELL CAN BREAK LOOSE as a result of everything the dems have been doing since Obama took office, and the dems will once again have a scapegoat that the state run media will exploit to it’s maximum to CEMENT democrat control in 2012 permanently!

I don't think the November election is the slam-dunk that conservatives seem to think it will be. Republicans will be hard pressed to take control of the House and they will not take the Senate.

I would urge every conservative to sign up to work for a conservative candidate this summer and fall. The Democrats/liberals have lots of money and control the media. I will take a lot of hard work to overcome the Democrat's organizational advantages.

I would especially urge Freepers to get involved in their state races. State governments elected in 2010 will be responsible for redistricting which will have a big impact for the whole decade.

Work now. Save the celebration for November.

Sadly, some people will vote Democrat no matter how bad things get or what Obama does. Don't count on circumstances changing their vote...

OFA has a very very large contact & distribution list. They can target and reach voters with their splinter groups (ACORN, Project Vote, etc...). Get involved with a local campiagn.

Among the 15 million new voters, how many expected Obama and the Democrats to end the war in Iraq? How many were in college and expected the economy to improve so they could find a good job? I’d say a large percentage of them. At best, they aren’t going to be all that eager to get out and vote for party that has failed to deliver on its promises. Eventually, many will become conservatives.

Hate to say it gang but they're going local and it may work.

I live in the NY 24th district Michael Arcuri has been handing out grants all over since May and has little town halls about “local issues”. Just look at his slide show; http://arcuri.house.gov/

Local media has him on just about every other night and we haven't seen a thing from his Republican opponent, Richard Hanna, a good candidate that almost beat Arcuri the last time.

Hanna is just getting underway with a good following on Twitter but could never afford the exposure Arcuri’s getting.
