Former Hewlett-Packard executive Carly Fiorina, who won the California GOP Senate primary Tuesday, said Sunday she regretted her off-the-cuff remarks about the hairstyle worn by her opponent, Sen. Barbara Boxer.
"I regret this whole situation. I gave people the opportunity to talk about something petty and superficial," she told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday." "This is a very serious election year about serious issues."
The Republican candidate didn't apologize for the remark, captured off the air during a television interview and posted on YouTube, in which she disparaged her opponents hairstyle as outdated.
Mrs. Fiorina said the contest with Mrs. Boxer, California Democrat, will be decided on the issue of jobs.
Asked whether she intended to soften for the general election the conservative positions that she rode to the Republican primary win, Mrs. Fiorina stood firm, restating her pro-life views and her support for Arizona's tough immigration law.
She defended her record at H-P, including her role in the California-based firm's outsourcing of 30,000 jobs.

Luckily for Carly, I don't get to vote in that election. I'll be voting to rid of another loser instead, Marky Mark Schauer.
I voted for Chuck DeVore in the primary, but I’m all for Carly now, and as a breast cancer survivor I know what it takes to survive, and so will Carly!!! You gotta be tough to go through Chemo.
Boy are you confused.
Boxer is all natural, you're thinking of Pelosi...........and it's not her hair............it's a face mask.
“You have to remember that a Republican in California would be considered a Democrat/Progressive in any other state. It sucks but thats California.”
You mean Republicans like Dan Lungren, or say Tom McClintock? LOLOLOLOLOL
Chris Wallace is a liberal masquerading as “we report you decide” a unbiased reporter.
I have watched his facial expressions carefully when confronted with liberal attacks.
I am not surprised at all he is trying to belittle Fiorina’s campaign from serious issues to petty issues.
That makes two of us, me and Carly....according to my wife of 23 years :-)
I agree....you do not get the top position of CEO in a a outfit as large as H-P without exceptional extempore speaking skills.
A smart person does not mind a partial win, a stupid person wants 100% his/her way or else they will take their marbles and go home.
And Carly should make a point to always refer to Boxer as ma’am. It will accentuate the age difference between them and it will remind the voters of what Boxer considered an important point when she questioned a General.
I’m not talking about the powerless ones who have no real impact.
babs boxer is so far to the left she make 0bama look like a conservative, Fiorina will be a VAST improvement over babs even if she has rino tendencies. Our only other option is to re-elect babs.
I think Carly is funny and very refreshing.
I wish her luck in her campaign.
Yep, and I’ve seen some of those stupid ones posting here on Free Republic, unfortunately ... I’m hoping they’re just a tiny number (but they sure are “loud” ... LOL ...).
You bet! I sure would be glad to see Fiorina knock off Boxer...
Carly Fiorina makes a remark about Barbara Boxer’s hair (meant to be a private statement) and it gets 100 times or more coverage by the press than Barbara Boxer going after a military officer, in her official capacity during a committee hearing, for calling her “ma’am” and insisting she be called “Senator” because she “worked so hard” for that title. This is ridiculous.
Well, of course, that’s where she got her 5 o’clock shadow eh!
What a BS liar....She is the one that brought it up, all while government has all but destroyed the state economy...As it's circling the drain, this fruit cake brings up hairstyles and fashion...
This is the best candidate? These people are running for office?
lol
I doubt that Boxer will mention it. She doesn’t strike me as a person with a sense of humor at all.
