Day 57
Obama gave his first Oval Office address tonight, but it sounded more like a political speech than a presidential address.
First, the fingerpointing. From the White House transcript:
One place weve already begun to take action is at the agency in charge of regulating drilling and issuing permits, known as the Minerals Management Service. Over the last decade, this agency has become emblematic of a failed philosophy that views all regulation with hostility -- a philosophy that says corporations should be allowed to play by their own rules and police themselves. At this agency, industry insiders were put in charge of industry oversight. Oil companies showered regulators with gifts and favors, and were essentially allowed to conduct their own safety inspections and write their own regulations.Yeah, it's Bush's fault. That's getting stale. Besides, it was HIS director of the Minerals Management Service, a Harvard environmental lawyer, who was fired for apparently not doing her job. Was she taking bribes? Is so, prosecute her.
The problem with regulating BP isn't that there weren't enough regulations, it was that the people Obama put in office were not doing their job. It was his Administration that was set to give BP a safety award for the Deep Horizon Well shortly before the accident. How is Bush responsible for that?
Then, there was this bit of disinformation:

Scary.
*shudders*
"...and the event was probably perpetrated by frustrated supporters of Rush Limbaugh who did not like the glory of St. Louis eclipsing Cape Girardeau...."
Obama wants to smoke a Nobel Peace Prize cigarette that will make it all nice.
But out of the last decade, it was only the last 18 months that inspections were not made. Oh for the days when the adults are in charge again.
One day for each state...in Obamaworld that's "spreading the wait around".
See tagline.
The scary thing about this for me was that he hinted at new taxes to provide incentives for "green energy." That, and the "we've run out of places to drill" BS that he stated as fact. More taxes, more handouts, as our economy continues to float like a pachyderm that's jumped out of a C-130. Without a chute.
And, who will be the 'independent third party'? My guess is a team comprised of Chuck Schumer, Barney Frank, Andy Stern and Chris Dodd, with Joe Biden & Rhamm Emanual as co-chairmen. AND, I'm sure that somehow, some way, a few billion $$$$ will wind up in the coffers of SEIU and the AFL/CIO.
ACORN will be one of the “third” parties.
Obama wants to smoke a Nobel Peace Prize cigarette that will make it all nice, make it all so very nice - where everybody loves us and we all get along - where the planet is healed as the seas bow down and the mountains rise up at his majesty ...
He talked about bringing in Ken Salazar to clean up the
MMA but it was too corrupt, well to me that means
Salazar was an epic fail and should be booted!
Hey now!
Of all the bizarre things, I saw Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, and Howard Fineman heavily criticize Obamas speech on one of the MSNBC after-speech shows last night. It was unreal. All of these three losers have been water carriers for Obama all along. It was truly beautiful to see what I saw.
(I don't hold any hopes of this treatment continuing, but it was good to see.)
