Americans have been anxiously waiting for President Obama to take full charge of the gulf oil catastrophe. On Tuesday, in his first address from the Oval Office, he vowed to fight this spill with everything weve got for as long as it takes and declared that we will make BP pay for the damage their company has caused.
Mr. Obama and his team will have to follow through with more energy and dedication than they have shown so far.
We know that the country is eager for reassurance. Were not sure the American people got it from a speech that was short on specifics and devoid of self-criticism. Certainly, we hope that Mr. Obama was right when he predicted that in coming weeks and days, up to 90 percent of the oil leaking from the well will be captured and the well finally capped by this summer. But he was less than frank about his administrations faltering efforts to manage this vast environmental and human disaster.

I wonder if he .zip’ped an .mp3 of his speech and emailled it to the Queen to update her iPod that he gave her.
I’ll bet it was excruciatingly painful for the editor to print that.
Glenn beck is mocking Obama’s speech line for line.
Zer0 made a fool of himself last night.
Too bad for us that the consequences of having this fool as president are VERY REAL.
“We know that the country is eager for reassurance.”
Oh my, YES! We the little people find it too difficult to carry on with our drab, meaningless lives without REASSURANCE from The One!!!
Notice that the author refers to B Hussein as “Mr 0bama” and NOT
“president” 0bama.
The LASlimes hammered him in an op-ed this morning and now the NYSlimes rebukes him for lack of specificity and self- critique. O’bummer seems to be losing friends fast than Joran Vandersloot.
Ronald Reagan he is not
A temper tantrum, replete with threats and plenty of ‘it’s not my fault’!
Did I read somewhere, that if you use the title “President”, when you first say/write his name, then you can then follow with “Mr.” in later references ??
AND our enemies are keeping a close eye on him. Expect another attack on our land soon...GOD watch over us!
My husband pointed out that Laura Bush, in her interview with Huckabee, refused to utter the name, Obama. Laura Bush simply referred to the “new president”.
The truth is that unless that oil was skimmed off immediately, it is nearly impossible to clean up until it hits the beaches and even then, it is a nearly impossible task and a very dangerous one, although the danger should be lessened by the fact that all the high ends have evaporated by the time it hits the beach.
You may be correct in that one. Thanks
I don’t want reassurance from the White House. I want the Federal government to do something about the oil slick.
