This is the moment a white American police officer punches a teenage black girl in the face after a dispute about how she and her friend crossed the road. Video footage of Officer Ian Walsh lashing out at the 17-year-old in Seattle has shocked the U.S.
The teenager reels backwards in shock from the blow before clutching her face while a bystander can be heard asking: ‘Are you serious?’
Police arrested the girl, Angel Rosenthal, and her friend, 19-year-old Marilyn Ellen Levias, both of whom have criminal records. Seattle Police chiefs have launched an investigation into the alleged assault after viewing the video footage. Civil rights activists are outraged and say the punch was an action of anger not self-defence. The incident comes weeks after another two Seattle officers seen kicking a Hispanic robbery suspect who later turned out to be innocent. James Kelly, who heads the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle group, said of the police: ‘Shame on you. The use of violence in the form of a full-blown fist to the face was wrong.
‘What the 17-year-old did was wrong,’ he told ABC News. ‘I'm not making any excuses for her, but two wrongs don't make a right.’ And a woman with whom the 17-year-old lives echoed his statements.
‘She's not a criminal,’ the woman, who would not give her name, said as she waited for a juvenile court hearing for the teen yesterday. ‘She ran into a situation that maybe wasn't right, but two wrongs don't make a right.’

These young gangstaetts need to learn you don’t put your hands on an officer of the law. He had every right to punch both out! But he was restrained and only hit the one.
Looks like resisting arrest to me.

From what I saw:
Failure to obey a peace officer
Interfering with a peace officer
Resisting Arrest with violence
Two misdemeanors and a felony.
Depending on the local DA and the Chief of Police, the officer is either toast and the charges get dismissed or the they back him up and prosecute.
Most Chiefs are politicians, so I betting this was a career ending event for the officer. Damn shame.
The video shows the girl who received the punch was grabbing at the police officer about the waist, while the other girl was resisting arrest.
Until cops can read minds, you touch a cop at the waist multiple times, you can expect a smackdown. That cop doesn’t want to be a statistic—that “girl” could have going for the gun.
The cop didn’t wait to find out.
As far as being a “shocked” American, I’m not.
I am getting sick and tired of blacks thinking they can just pile on a police officer, and encircle a sympathetic crowd around him.
And how nice, that at 17, they both have visited with the justice system and became acquainted previously with the nice folks there.
According to what I have read the whole incident started over jaywalking of the “perps”. So apparently the cops there will bust someone over jaywalking, but will not doubt let an illegal alien get away with drunk driving.....
This is what you get when liberals run the government, I guess. Rampant racism.

This is a very busy street, heavy traffic, with a constant jay-walking problem. So the city installed a overhead pedestrian walkway, about ten feet from where these arrogant jerks jay-walked!
The man has far more restraint and patience than I have.
He should have punched the other chick in the face also.
It's sad that some here at FR have taken to this kind of distortion of facts. Two women, one young man. The young man is clearly the only one at the scene who is doing anything to actually try to diffuse the situation. The two women can afford to be out of control idiots, the cop cannot.
I don’t know why it matters what color her skin was, compared to the officer’s.
It was her actions, not her skin color, that got her in trouble.
The underlying problem for her was that she already had some convictions. She didn’t want to go to jail. She was all mouth until the handcuffs went on. Then, she gave off that very recognizable ‘whimper’ indicating she knew this might end up getting her more prison time.
She didn’t care what the officer was arresting her for, she just knew if she let him take her in, she might be in for a while.
I don’t blame her for wanting to escape. However, when you resist arrest and you only get a slight punch in the face, you should consider yourself very lucky.
I’ve seen more violence to women done at the entrance to WALMART during a %50 off sale. And that was done by their friends.
Broken-window theory - enforcing even minor laws tends to flush out the bad eggs and gets ‘em off the street.
Cops having to deal with these societal parasites sort of loses it, however, the wench was resisting arrest and the tape was clearly taken out of context. Obviously, what preceded the physical confrontation was not shown.
I heard the reason those two females wouldn't use the walkway was that they thought 'pedestrian' meant children only.

Excuse me? There were at least a dozen or more people surrounding the scene, yelling and in my opinion, ready to throw poop if they had any handy. Many with cameras, obviously hoping to cash in on some Obama bucks. The officer obviously lost his cool, but I don’t particularly blame him.
