Gates, Buffett Goad Peers to Give Billions to Charity
Wall Street Journal ^ | June 17, 2010 | ROBERT A. GUTH And SHELLY BANJO

Warren Buffett and Bill Gates called Wednesday on their billionaire peers to give away half of their wealth.

The pronouncement by Messrs. Buffett and Gates stems from a series of dinners the two men held over the past year to discuss the effects of the recession on philanthropy with some of the nation's richest people, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, investor Ronald O. Perelman and David Rockefeller, his family's patriarch.

The result of the dinners is an invitation, called the Giving Pledge, which asks the nation's billionaires to publicly commit to give at least half of their wealth to philanthropic and charitable groups within their lifetimes or after their deaths.

"The goal is to help create an expectation in society that the rich should give away their wealth and to create a peer group of wealthy people that can offer advice on philanthropy, said Melinda Gates, Mr. Gates's wife and co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation."
This sends shivers up and down my spine. "Creating the expectation" - good grief. The amount of mischief that these lefty foundations have done to this nation already is fearsome to contemplate.

Gates and Buffett are Death Eaters. Their idea of “charity” is to kill poor people’s children in the womb.

Maybe their new goal, funded by their wealthy peers, will be to sterilize the poor people before they can conceive. It wouldn't be the first time "great thinkers" pushed this philosophy.

. . . and sit on the boards of each other’s “non-profits”, collecting hefty salaries for doing so.

The organizations that push abortion also push sterilization, with or without the consent of the subject. It’s not about turning poor people into self-sufficient people, for them ... just about killing.

And of course we all know that this “generosity” will be grossed up by the amount of federal and state taxes that will be avoided . . .

Right?

Extreme wealth turns capitalists into socialists. I do not understand why they do not want to use their wealth to create more wealth with opportunities for many striving individuals. Colorado has a huge problem with wealthy Democrats buying elections also.

I was formulating a plan to leave California around August 1999. My boss sent me to work on a contract in the Denver area from Jan 2000 to March 2000. I saw enough in that time frame to cross the place off my list of destinations.

Too bad you were stuck in Denver:) El Paso county (Colorado Springs area) is much more conservative and liveable in my opinion!!

Thomas Sowell made a brilliant observation about these guys. He noted that they advocate high death taxes for the “small people”, yet they themselves did not give their vast fortunes to the government to spend.

Hypocrites like Gates know the government would squander the money, and the country and world would be no better off. So they set up foundations which they or family members control. They obviously know they can make better use of the money than the government, yet want to deny the same freedom to the rest of us.

George Soros will give his $$$ to ACORN. These people know that gov’t is ineffective and don’t want to give it to them.

Interesting that Bill Gates went to the Bilderberg meeting last week, and then comes up with this “great” idea days later....coincidence?

Planned Parenthood, the Sierra Club, and ACORN can use the money.
