Sally Quinn: Hillary Clinton should be Obama's vice president
The Washington Post ^ | June 18, 2010 | Sally Quinn

Posted on 06/17/2010 11:58:56 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden should switch jobs.

Really.

It makes sense for the Democrats, actually. Clinton has done an incredible job as secretary of state. First of all, she has worked harder than anyone should ever be expected to. She has managed to do the impossible: She is the ambassador of the United States to the world, maintaining her credibility while playing the bad guy to President Obama's good guy, such as with North Korea, Iran and Israel, and still looking good. She has been a true team player. If Clinton is dissatisfied with her role, you would never know it. She has been loyal and supportive to the president and has maintained a good relationship with him and with others in the White House. If she is being left out of the policymaking, or being sent on trips to keep her out of town, she has not shown it. She is cheerful, thoughtful, serious and diligent. There are no horror stories about her coming out of the State Department. Most notable, though, is that Bill Clinton has not been the problem that so many anticipated. He has been supportive of her and of Obama, and he has stayed out of the limelight and been discreet about his own life.

In short, the arguments against Hillary Clinton being Obama's vice president have pretty much evaporated.

So, what kind of running mate would she be? We've seen the team player. Now consider Hillary the Democratic campaigner. She is tireless and relentless.(continued)

Name one thing she has done.

1) Give overcharge button to Russia
2) Display ignorance of Guadalupe to Mexico
3) Uncouple Chinese human right violations from US policy...promise Chinese “eminent domain” in USA in exchange for carrying further unpayable debt.
4) Overlook embassy Gay party in Baghdad
5) Publically spank Africans for inferring (correctly) that her husband is really the popular powerful Clinton
6) Compare North Korean leader to naughty teenager and threaten to take away his ipod if he builds any more nukes
7) Send birthday greetings to Queen Elizabeth on wrong day.
8) Insult and infuriate Israel
9) Insult and infuriate Pakistan
10) Insult and infuriate obama
11) amuse USSR, China and Iran
12) Reveal to Arizona that obama plans to sure them by announcing it to the d-list Ecuadorians

I just love it when Sally Quinn tries to be clever. It’s so cute. It’s like watching a kitten try to work a combination lock.

The truth of it is that Joe Biden is not strong enough Impeachment Insurance for President Obama. They thought Slow Joe would be good enough, but President Obama is much worse than they imagined he would be.

To protect a screw up this bad, they have to bring out the Big Guns. They need to use Hillary Clinton as Impeachment Insurance. Surely that will keep the right wing at bay!

Obama should have three vice presidents, because there’s plenty of vice to go around.

Quinn used her column last week to address rumors about her family — that she had scheduled her son’s wedding deliberately to coincide with her husband’s granddaughter’s — and lost her newspaper column this week.

Okay, I'm confused here ... since when does the mother of the groom schedule a wedding? The bride chooses the date, with consultation, sure, but I don't recall anyone I've ever known allowing a future mother-in-law to choose her wedding date, actually schedule the event.

Is she saying that to spite the woman who preceded her in Ben's bed, she purposely scheduled his son's wedding at the same time as his granddaughter's, was he supposed to choose, Sally? Show he loves his son more than the daughter of his daughter?? I always knew there was something I didn't like about this woman, I thought it was her dingy liberalism. Now I know.

Oh, and of course her makeup and makeover staff could whip her into some kind of shape for the 2012 campaign.

All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't make a silk purse out of that sow's ear!

Sally Quinn, who never is forced to rub shoulders with the little people of the world who dwell outside her exclusive Georgetown neighborhood, is a liberal feminist who became semi-well known for her enterprising marriage to aging, wealthy, liberal Ben Bradlee who managed the Washington ComPost for years.....and for being the doyenne and caste-system arbitrator of DC society where an invite to Bradlee soirees is the equivalent of Neo-Com nirvanah.

She "worked" her way up to being an unmemorable reporterette and DC columnist. Now she is chiefly known as a frequent guest on a fellow-idiot's show, The Factor, where another aging, wealthy old socialist banters with her, yapping inanities back and forth and getting answers and viewpoints from her which The Bloviator actually thinks have weighty political import.

Now she again has arisen from the swamp to give us the privilege of sharing her assessments of the future of the U.S. presidency.

All the world is a cartoon these days and Sally is Dumb Dora.

I believe leveraging Hillary into the presidency by trading places with Biden and having Obama step down would literally be a coup d’etat - with a cabal of Dems decided whom should be president. This country had the ‘opportunity’ to elect Hillary to office and it chose not to. It infuriates me that Dems would give themselves the right to select a ‘do over’ president. “Gee - we voted someone incompetent into office and though we are still incompetent, we are simply just going to choose the next president because we’re afraid you won’t vote the way we want you to next time.” They elected a worthless guy - they should have to bear the consequences.

“What exactly HAS Hillary! done as secretary of state? What international problem has she solved?”

Well...there was the ‘problem’ of the positive reputation of the United States. Dems said we should not have one. Hillary has almost completely dissolved ours...

If Hillary Clinton just continues BO's policies, what's the point? Same meat, different gravy.

Keep your eyes on the old PUMA blogs and watch them--currently supporters of Sarah Palin--warm to the idea of a resurrected Hillary Clinton presidency.

I get the idea that if Biden were POTUS, he (possibly) would not continue (all) of BO's policies. Plus he seems to love this country. This means he's not considered POTUS material by the Dem kingmakers.

I was thinking that Dems would actually throw Obama under the bus despite their apparent ‘loyalty’ because the vote was, after all is said and done, not really a vote for Obama but a vote for themselves as morally superior beings. So, yes, loyalty is definitely more important than substance to Dems, but it is loyalty to their own self esteem.

Thanks for the BOL of the day and a wonderful summary of elite Sally Q:

I think that they may want Hillary in as VP (swapping Biden out), Obama steps down and Hillary becomes pres. I think they actually....are you sitting down...actually believe she can magically turn the sinking ship around and impress the electorate enough to vote her into office (and maintain Dem dominance in congress) in 2012 and from there she could continue the Dems grand legacy (power).
The way the ship is sinking now, the Dems will be lucky if mobs don’t throw Obama and all of his supporters out before elections; for years, they will be seen as the lepers they are.
The only way they, so far, can conceive of saving the reputation of the party and it’s continued presence in office is to literally have Hillary ‘save the day’. Hillary would have less than 2 years to make the US the utopia the Dems just know the right sort of micromanagement of our lives can make it. She would be promising a ‘chicken in every pot’ to all those unemployed as the Nov. 2012 elections approached. She wouldn’t really have to ‘do’ anything successful because, like Obama, she would claim to have been ‘saddled’ with a bad situation (She’d formally blame it on Bush but it would be understood that it was really ‘The One’s’ legacy) to begin with and would need time to correct it - she’d just need more Utopian promises and she’d need to throw a few bones to the right people, with a promise of more to come. They must be THAT afraid of Palin or leper status in general.
The left has a history of believing that their ideas, like communism, will work because they thought of it - and that any obvious failure of their dreams (i.e. Soviet Union, Obama) is just an example of failed implementation.

SO - they are thrilled with every step Obama takes to dismantle our country, the country begins to falter and the populace begins to complain, they are suddenly on track to lose congress and with it - Utopia, and they want to swap the ‘right’ miracle worker in to continue implementation.

If they ‘allow’ Obama to expose the worthless underpinnings of their party’s ideas, they won’t get to try again for a long time and their ideas will have the negative reputation they deserve.
The motive behind this particular lead trial balloon is ‘big picture’; they are afraid of losing power for years with a soiled reputation and they want Hillary to sanitize and preserve their hold on power until our rights are sufficiently diminished and we are more malleable. Indefinite power.
And I think these trial balloons outline the plan for coup d’etat; we didn’t vote her into office. How dare the Dems even think of granting themselves the right to select America’s president from their own team in order to avoid the disappointments of a public election.

If Hillary Clinton continues BO's failed policies, there will be no sanitizing. I don't know how she would be able to corral public opinion to stand behind her. The way the media supported BO, you'd have thought he was a deity. I don't see Hillary Clinton being treated the same way.

And I think these trial balloons outline the plan for coup d’etat; we didn’t vote her into office. How dare the Dems even think of granting themselves the right to select America’s president from their own team in order to avoid the disappointments of a public election.

"Selected, not elected." Where have I heard that one before...

weird trial balloon

The people who invented "Obama" must be getting very nervous. Their incredible coup, so near to success, must seem to be unravelling before their eyes.

What they will do with "Obama", anyone can figure out. The media could turn a "stupid little communist" into an agent of right-wing hate in 3 days, between November 22 and November 25, 1963. I am certain that a Reichstag fire is in the game plan.

I have not thought until recently that Xlinton would be behind it, but it makes sense if you think about it.

Here it starts. They see Obama is a disaster, but Biden is not presidential material. If Hillary were to get into the vice presidency, Obama look out. Suddenly it would be discovered he WASN’T born in Hawaii, or some such

There's no chance they will keep him around. None at all.

The riots after they dispose of "Obama" are a feature, not a bug.

I never thought the Sink Emperor could orchestrate something this big, but perhps I was wrong.
