Walgreens Shooting: Another GREAT Post Gunfight Interview…(NE)
Frontsight ^ | 3 May, 2010 | Dr. Ignatius Piazza

As I have stated in the past, I DO NOT recommend you sit down with the news media to be interviewed following a gunfight.

However, I would be remiss in my duties to educate you on what happens IN and AFTER a gunfight if I did not share this post gunfight interview with you.

This is a great interview that demonstrates many of the key characteristics of those who command and control their destiny versus those who fall prey to random acts of violence.

Watch this extremely educational and intriguing post-gunfight video and see if you can spot WHY this man is alive today and then see my comments that follow…

Very good interview, good solid citizen. One of my pet peeves however, it’s being too nice and calling would-be killers/assailants/shooters “gentlemen”. Enough of that. Call the dead perp a “gunman”, perp, whatever, but certainly not a “gentleman”, we need to get back to using proper terminology.

“Person of interest” is another idiotic label, SUSPECT is correct and then he/she can be deemed NOT a suspect upon further investigation or whatever. Heck everyone knows what LEOs are getting at anyway, trying to dance on a pinhead in today’s PC world.

Enough namby-pamby nice-nice speak.

BANG! Another dead scumbag

No No No Didn’t you hear the reporter. He was a child. The reporter said “Did you hear that the Mother of the child, boy doesn’t blame you?”

What a jerk. If the child hadn’t attempted an armed robbery he wouldn’t be dead.

Pathetic that they are trying to get the guy on carrying concealed. Perfect example of mindless idiots that just follow the rules.

I wonder why in the world he would put himself through such an interview

To get his side of the story out and hopefully garner public opinion on his side since there were criminal charges pending against him........

Thats just my guess since nobody knows exactly why.

We, who have the luxury of being spectators in this, think that.

In his situation, I would do the same. Use language that sounds formal, non-offending to the professionally sensitive, etc.

A criminal charge was hanging over his head. He was clearly doing everything to appear a non-Rambo here, which is a pretty smart move when you have a DA who is looking at charging you with a crime that would prevent any future CCW issuance to you.

I understand your point, which is well taken in his situation. Reading the article you see that his prohibited weapons charge was a knife which he had to practically take the police by the hand to clarify, they were trying to put it in the category of a firearm or allude to that. That’s what I understand from the article (where’s that dratted thing now?!). Anyway, apparently there were 3 knives in the vehicle, “hunting knives” he specified.

On that point, in Texas a knife with a blade of over 5 1/2” is a prohibited weapon. That zaps the good old USMC Kabar knife and similar models, including the wonderful Model #1 Fighting Knife by Randall. They make it in a 5” now but during the VN war, our store (sporting goods) was sending them to combat soldiers/Marines that we knew over there from our community. Of course, length of blade was NOT an issue over there! What in the world would some (TX)legislator make an issue of the length of blade for?

I see it in our county court also. Had a prohibitive weapon charge (unlawful carrying) come up yesterday. I asked the County Atty just what sort of weapon. It was brass knucks. True, they are prohibited, was not a smart move. Everyone was thinking GUN, FIREARM, ASSAULT WEAPON, MACHINE GUN.

The video you refer to is, "Talking to the Police" by Professor James Duane.

Thanks for the name of the video.

It is an eye opener for anyone talking to a LEO for what ever the reason.
