A Gulf state senator ripped BP chief executive Tony Hayward for taking time off Saturday to attend a glitzy yacht race around England's Isle of Wight as oil spewing into the Gulf continues to wreak havoc on the environment and wildlife.
"That's the height of arrogance," Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., told Fox News on Saturday.

The GOP blows!
Didn’t Obama go to a baseball game last night?
They’re sending an oblique message to Obama and the Dims.
Thank you. I thought that perhaps I was the only one who saw Obama’s partying as a problem while this disaster develops.
Did Shelby just wake up out of a coma? I thought Hayward had been relieved of his duties by BP......?
Wasn’t Hayward relieved of his duties yesterday? BP put another guy in charge of the cleanup.
GOP is just posturing now to show they can put boots on necks too.
Playing “me too” has never helped Republicans win elections.

A day after he was grilled by Congress, BP chief executive Tony Hayward is being demoted. According to Britain’s Sky News.
Can we, as his employer, demote BO?????
People won’t be happy until this guy is hung upside-down and bare-assed in the town square and flogged. Meanwhile the oil will keep flowing and Barry will keep golfing and attending parties.
Is it my imagination, or does Obama have a Mickey Mouse hand?
Wearing a white glove? That could be construed as racist.
Where the heck was this Sen. Richard Shelby when 0bozo was partying it up with the idiotic Paul McCartney, playing golf nonstop (all at the peak of the oil spill), and attending swank fund raising dinner parties for Barbara Boxer on the same day that the 11 dead from the disaster were being buried?
Nope. That's addressed in the story, near the bottom. The Chairman, Svanberg "misspoke" in that earlier statement.
"Williams said Svanberg was misunderstood and that only a transition to Dudley, an American with 30 years in the oil business, had begun."
Shelby needs to lighten up. The guy got removed from his position, so what is he supposed to do? He is entitled to a life outside his former job now.
I thought Heyward was no longer responsible for the company’s handling of the oil spill. Shelby needs to catch up with the news.
Remember, most of the GOP are on the paid of many of the same parties as the Dims. The big banks and oil companies own them all.
Including Shelby.
You should see how ANY legislation is for sale. You point out flaws and you are ignored, because the banks, oil companies, and other lobbyists own Washington.
Can we, as his employer, demote BO?????
Yeah, it's called "an election" ... don't elect him next time ... LOL ...
[ ... of course, I have no idea how we elected him the first time ... ]

What is it about these Republican office holders. There is a time to keep ones mouth shut. Obama has been partying every other day for God’s sake. Let’s get real here.
This is all political posturing.
What is he supposed to do? A photo-op with an oil-stained pelican? Ashes and sackcloth? A trip to Lourdes to pray for a miracle?
Uhmm did not Heyward get removed to PR spot? not the ceo anymore not his problem?
Looks Like Tony Got His Life Back.
However, my family, friends and associates that work along the Louisiana Gulf Coast will never get their lives back due to the incompetence of Tony and BP.
“Can we, as his employer, demote BO?????”
Well, if you demoted him, he’d simply be replaced by another bozo named Joe Biden. I’d be happy with just giving him an extended “time out” (detention, suspension: I don’t really care what it’s called). I’d recommend a time out of about 30 months’ duration.
During that period, he would be prohibited from signing any legislation, approving any treaties, making any new political appointments AND (most importantly) speaking to the press or public in any fashion or form.
Given his lack of experience, I don’t want to be too harsh on the man, so it would be fine by me if he spent every minute of his idle time playing hoops or golf. I suspect that the less visible he is, the higher will be the level of public confidence about our future.
And where was idiot shelby when zero went to ca for boxer, golfing, etc?
I swear, anyone who thinks the gop are really much better than the rats are deluded.
The worthless Kenyan likes giving us the finger
He's a Michael Jackson wannabe.........
BP made it “Official” yesterday that Hayward is NO longer in charge of any of this - now Bob Dudley ans American
Thus one could argue Hayward now has “his life back”...?

Shelby is like 99 percent of the gop - useless.
In 1984 Gulf divested many of its worldwide operating subsidiaries to others, and then formally merged with Chevron...
While the Gulf name may still be around and in use. the original Gulf Oil company is long since gone
Agreed - I would place him in the quasi-RINO catagory
Oh cry me a river and stop your melodramatics. While it was a BP rig that caused this mess it's not like they planned it. Look in the dictionary and there is a word there called "ACCIDENT".......Shit happens and it's unfortunate when it does. BP has been doing everything in its power to fix this thing despite the posturing by your government. And they have issued their guarantee that everyone affected by this will be compensated.
What more can you ask?
To claim that your friends, family and associates will never get their lives back is ridiculous at best...........
“To claim that your friends, family and associates will never get their lives back is ridiculous at best...........”
It seems you may have all the solutions for the problems that the BP spill has and will cause.
That being the case, what is you solution to clean-up repair the marshes, wetlands, estuaries and oyster beds that have been polluted by the oil from this spill?
Until those areas are returned to the state that they were prior to the blow out, the good people of South Louisiana are being deprived of their livelihoods.
Most don't realize that very few gasoline stations are actually owned or operated by the oil company who's name/brand is on the station...(and the products sold do not come exclusively from any one source.
Thus when folks say they are boycotting BP - the only individuals actually hurt are the small business owners that own and operate as cluster of BP branded service stations.
All gasoline (from all regional refiners) is sent by pipeline to large (common) regional storage facilities where it is stored in common by octane grade, and then transported out for delivery to a wide range of retail stations.
Thus any one tank of gas in your car will contain product made from the “blended” oil produced by many different domestic and/or foreign entities - and then refined by a host of different refineries.
Maybe Barton will apologize to Hayward again.
It is a signal that if the GOP wins in NOV nothing will change....the lib skunks will behave as though they won and the GOP will be content to be door mats.
“SHHHH don’t tell Michelle where I am....again....I had em close down the whole base just for wonderful me...no one can go to the commissary, bx, gas station,,nope..just me and my buds here on base to play golf. To hell with those military men and women. They aren’t important...I AM I AM THE DEAR LEADER.
How about the GOP winning the elections in NOV and then IMPEACH THE BASTARD FOR BEING INCOMPETENT?
How about the GOP winning the elections in NOV and then IMPEACH THE BASTARD FOR BEING INCOMPETENT?
Incompetent would definitely be the case, but unfortunately that doesn't rise to the level of a crime ... hoo-boy!
They've got to operate under these guidelines ...
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
BUT, the "real problem" is that in order to convict in the Senate, you've got to have a vote of at least 2/3 in order to carry the day. You'll remember how that went for President Clinton -- and that was a "slam-dunk case" and they still couldn't do it.
So, if you think that will happen ... well ... dream on ... :-)
I'm afraid that you're stuck with the "ole tried and true method" that works 100% of the time -- and that's to "vote him out of office".
Yep, that is why IO am not even voting or doing anything.
Look in the dictionary and there is a word there called "ACCIDENT"
I suggest you look up another word ... "criminal" ... as that's more appropriate to "tell the story" of what happened with BP. They act like a criminal organization and have no qualms about killing their own employees as we see happened even during the Bush Administration ...
From a referenced article, in this post -- Post #4 ...
It definitely shows "how BP operates" ... :-)
IO=I
Why vote or try to change things when the elected will just do the same old lib things albeit a little lighter version.
Until those areas are returned to the state that they were prior to the blow out, the good people of South Louisiana are being deprived of their livelihoods.
I just saw a report on the news about some of what is happening with businesses down there and one business owner (a shrimper) said they were on their way to the best year they had in his 28 years in business (had 60 employees last year) and now they've got 8 (laid off because of the BP fiasco/disaster).
And they have to ramp up business and they borrow from the banks coming into the season and were expecting a good payoff to have a profit, pay the employees and pay the bank back -- and now -- they are looking at the destruction of a 28-year old business, because the owner has no idea how this business can survive this BP-caused disaster.
