Last fall, Speaker Nancy Pelosi moved her district office into the new federal building in San Francisco. The move quadrupled the rent she pays, and her new $18,736 monthly bill is almost double the next-highest rental paid by a Member of the House.

This artists rendering depicts the new federal building in San Francisco that now houses the offices of Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The building is an award-winning green design that saves on energy costs and is centrally located, according to Pelosis spokesman
A database assembled by the Sunlight Foundation in cooperation with Roll Call provides new insight into Congressional spending on district office rents. Not surprisingly, Members from large urban districts with the highest property values are paying the most for district office rental, particularly New Yorkarea Members.
But even in these high-rent districts, Pelosis new digs blow away the competition.
The next highest monthly office rent belongs to Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D), who occupies an office in a federal building in Manhattans trendy SoHo neighborhood for just under $10,600. Rep. José Serrano (D) paid $10,350 a month last year for an office in the Bronx, but he recently moved into a new building where the first months rent was only $9,583, his spokesman said Friday.
Democratic Reps. Doris Matsui (Sacramento), Stephen Lynch (Boston) and Diane Watson (Los Angeles) all pay $9,000 to $10,000 a month for district offices.
Pelosis spokesman said the high price of the Speakers new office is partly due to her need for additional space she had been in her prior office for more than 20 years and new security needs that go along with being the Speaker of the House.
San Francisco is one of the most densely populated cities in the country and, of course, office space rents

> The move quadrupled the rent she pays
WRONG!!!
It quadruples the rent WE pay with our tax dollars for this effete rapist of the people’s treasure.
“He hath sent hither swarms of his agents to harass our people and eat out our substance.”
Empress Pelosi tells us to “eat cake”!
Nutsy needs more room in order to study The Word.
I don’t care-the small people pay!
I wonder what the poor people are doing today! Oh, that’s right, we taxpayers are footing the bill for Pelosi’s fancy and expensive office, not to mention her jet. She is so lucky that she has us “little people” to take care of her.
My estimate of the situation is that this is totally driven by security.
Nancy is afraid somebody will come gunning for her sorry socialist ass.
the lobotomy didn’t work....that’s the “word”....
Ya’ll don’t understand liberal math. Because it’s a “GREEN” office building, she will be paying 4x less in electricity which means she can now pay 4x more in rent. Common sense is sometimes in error. /s
We’re just little people. We should respect our betters. We must scatter rose petals in Madame Pelosi’s path as her entourage passes, and if we do, maybe she will throw us some coins.
Ummm “Pelosi pays???”
No, WE pay! Effing Bee-itch.
The Left accuses everyone else of exactly what they are and do. This is part of their strategy.
For example--they accuse everyone and everything of greed--when they themselves are the greediest scoundrels on the planet.
And the morons who enable them will never learn. They can't. They're morons. This is also part of the strategy.
If the average per month was 8,000 dollars, that’s a cool 41 million a year for congressional offices, and that is if the congressperson only has one office.
A telephone should suffice as an office, thank you. Then you would only have to pay the person manning the phone, Which I’ll bet is considerably less than the rent she pays per month, but an expense none the less.
Frankly Scarlett this NATION, including the ones who run the finances, need to be put on a strict budget, until we are solvent. That should take about three lifetimes.
Figures, the highest spenders are Rats... and fatass Nadler is #2 behind the queen.
Fancy Nancy has to have the best digs, don’tcha know?
Hope she only signed a 6 mos lease, cause next Jan. she’s back to her old 100K/yr dive.
Pray for America
pelosi is paying 18K/month rent. Wow.
This is in a federal building. Paid for by us. Now, her highness is paying 18K/month of our money to the building that we paid for in the first place. So I guess the landlord is Big Brother. How does one account for all these transactions? Makes my brain hurt.
The move quadrupled the rent she pays
GAG!
“”This is in a federal building. Paid for by us.””
This is simply our tax $$$$ leaving one pocket and going into the other - federal-wise! Even if it weren’t a federal building, we’d still be footing the monthly rent bill. That’s better than finding out that her husband or some relative owns the office complex!!!
Isn’t it amazing from the figures given the dems think nothing of obligating the taxpayers for those high rents? Kinda like the way they see federal spending for everything else under the sun. I see only dems listed - I wonder what the rents are for district offices for Republicans - are any of those in federal buildings?
Sure would be nice if she didn’t survive the November elections & had to fulfill that lease with her own funds!!!
It is fitting that the building was $100 million over budget, a year late, ultra green, but can’t get LEED (green rating) accredited, and absolutly uncomfortable for almost all employees.
Elevator doesn’t stop at all floors to encourage (or in their Cass Sunstein language “nudge”) fat workers to take the stairs.
No heating or air conditioning except for executive offices.
Daylight at every workstation (workers have to use umbrellas to fend off blinding hot sun).
Cafeteria was placed in far off building to force people to walk there.
Welcome to the new world folks!
