This shouldn't be about what Val Kilmer said, or how fat he is, or how bad his movies have been recently.

It is a simple conception that a person's right to conduct business doesn't depend on how well some people like or how intensely others dislike him.

It sounds to me like some folks have decided a little butt-kissing is due to soothe their bruised egos. They should get over it. Van Kilmer is the one who has to live with himself, so let them take satisfaction in that.

That, and the fact that you need a dam ‘permit’ to run a business.

It’s just a little etiquette lesson from the people that create the lovely local culture that he wants to make money off of. He’s getting some schooling.

To me its about the elite making a ton of money off “the little people” and at the same time holding them in scorn.

If it wasn’t for plain folk (the type that like to see movies like Top Gun) he would be working in an office somewhere.

I’ll agree with you that his right to conduct business shouldn’t have anything to do with what people think. But remember, he probably voted for the type of people who made these zoning laws. I wouldn’t have.
