The top commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, has been summoned to the White House to explain biting and unflattering remarks he made to a freelance writer about President Barack Obama and others in the Obama administration.

The face-to-face comes as pundits are already calling for McChrystal to resign for insubordination.

Last Paragraph:

Hastings, who has covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for two years, according to the magazine, is not well known within the Defense Department.

And as a freelance reporter, Hastings would be considered a bigger risk to be given unfettered access compared to a beat reporter who would risk burning bridges by publishing many of McChrystal’s remarks.

I think McCrystal fell on the sword on this.

He wanted to out Obama, and did so. Very effectively.

It is interesting (if sobering) to see what exactly will spur this president to action - namely, any threat to his inflated ego.

I guess the narcissist-in-chief has a thin skin. Obama should be impeached, tried for treason and shipped to Gitmo to rot with his muslim buddies.

It seems far more plausible to me that the General wanted out and this was the fastest way to do it than he let his guard down around a reporter for the Rolling Stone for crying out loud.

McChrystal knew what he was doing. He knows this is a career ender for him. I think he’s sounding the alarm in a very public way. In his own way he’s keeping his oath to the constitution. He is a patriot.

– “Even though he had voted for (President Barack) Obama, McChrystal and his new commander-in-chief failed from the outset to connect. The general first encountered Obama a week after he took office, when the president met with a dozen senior military officials in a room at the Pentagon known as the Tank. According to sources familiar with the meeting, McChrystal thought Obama looked “uncomfortable and intimidated” by the roomful of military brass. Their first one-on-one meeting took place in the Oval Office four months later, after McChrystal got the Afghanistan job, and it didn’t go much better. ‘It was a 10-minute photo-op,’ says an adviser to McChrystal. ‘Obama clearly didn’t know anything about him, who he was. Here’s the guy who’s going to run his f-ing war, but he didn’t seem very engaged. The Boss was pretty disappointed.’”

Exactly, its all about Barry all the time. He cares nothing for this country or its people. He’s like all the other democrats I’ve ever met.

Yes, and no.

Honestly, if he wanted to out Obama- he could and should have resigned his commission first. Then he could say whatever he wanted and done some real good. As it is- he’s given every soldier the sense that the rules of conduct are not important. I detest Barack Obama, yet what McChrystal did is insubordination, pure and simple. What’s worse- is now McChrystal has apologized for his statements- making him look like a hypocrite.

This guy was special ops- he’s not a coward- but his behavior is perplexing at best.

Thanks to Gen. Stanley McChrystal. Lets keep up the pressure and exposure of King Obama. King Obama looks more like a fool every day that his ego gets pounded. Wow! The posture of a crumbling criminal.

Respectfully, I think it was desperation...the man did what he thought was best, no other options. Retired and speaking up like this wouldn’t be news at all...it would have been buried and written off as sour grapes, IMHO.

If he voted for Obama his is not much of a commander and by apologizing he’s lost a lot of credibility. Much better to just resign and let his words stand. He is finished anyway but now he looks weak. If I were him I’d just have an aid deliver my letter of resignation rather then let Obama chew my butt.

Unless it was the only way the general had of guaranteeing some face time with the POTUS? I can't imagine Barry allowing a flunkie the pleasure of nailing McChrystal's hide to the wall. If that's the case, what the heck could the general have to tell Barry...?
