Republican attorney general hopeful takes issue with opponent's 'guns CT)

DANBURY -- A challenger to Republican attorney general candidate Martha Dean is calling into question comments she made this spring about guns and schoolchildren.

Ross Garber, who is forcing a primary against Dean, said Monday he takes issue with his opponent's comment that she will "advocate firearms training for boys and girls in schools, in scouts, at camp and elsewhere."

Garber said while he supports the Second Amendment and a citizen's right to bear arms, he believes an attorney general should "focus on being a strong advocate for the state and its citizens, not pushing a personal political agenda."

"It's certainly not the attorney general's job to give our schoolchildren guns," Garber said in a statement released Monday.

Dean, however, defended her position, noting many public and private schools in the state offer firearms accident prevention programs and competitive rifle teams.

Both programs, she said, provide opportunities for public benefit and safety.

"My platform is based on restoring common sense to the attorney general's office to allow Connecticut citizens and businesses to flourish," Dean said. "As Connecticut attorney general I will be swearing to uphold the Constitution, and I will do that." Dean apparently made the comments on firearms training during a rally sponsored by the Connecticut Citizens Defense League at the state Capitol in April.

Scott Wilson, president of the league, a statewide organization founded to provide a voice to gun owners in the state, said he is proud there is a pro-Second Amendment candidate for attorney general, and the league supports her 100 percent.

He added that while he doesn't know the specific duties of an attorney general, supporting training programs that ensure children's safety around firearms is a wise idea.

Dean is a true conservative that anyone can be proud of.

Garber is a huge RINO endorsed by - of all people - the extremist Dem chair of the state's judiciary committee, Mike Lawlor. Would you back a candidate backed - in a GOP primary! - by Barney Frank or Maxine Waters? Well Lawlor is actually worse than they are.

Ill add that only in Connecticut would a “Republican” candidate attack an opponent in a GOP primary for being pro 2nd amendment.

New Times started as an alternative paper, but had a preponderance of ads for tattoo parlors, ‘club and dancer wear’, lingerie & sex toy stores, escort services, phone sex ads, ad nauseam.’.

It tended towards the ultra liberal.

Mediocre food reviews, sometimes OK movie reviews, and a comprehensive list of all moves covers most of the rest.

The print version was popular amongst parrot owners, as the LameStream papers had the unmitigated gall to charge for their newsprint, whereas New Times was free.

Nope.

The paper in question is NOT anything called “New Times”. It has no similarity to that.

It is the Danbury “News-Times” — a “mainstream” liberal paper with long roots in the community.

Interestingly, circulation has dropped so low that it isn’t published in Danbury any more, but down in Bridgeport, and trucked up.
