Interior secretary to issue new drilling ban (Unfreakinbelievable)
MSNBC ^ | 6/22/2010 | nbc

Posted on 06/22/2010 6:13:28 PM PDT by tobyhill

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said Tuesday he will issue a new order imposing a moratorium on deepwater drilling after a federal judge struck down the existing one.

Salazar said in a statement that the new order will contain additional information making clear why the six-month drilling pause was necessary in the wake of the Gulf oil spill. The judge in New Orleans who struck down the moratorium earlier in the day complained there wasn't enough justification for it.

Salazar pointed to indications of inadequate safety precautions by industry on deepwater wells. "Based on this ever-growing evidence, I will issue a new order in the coming days that eliminates any doubt that a moratorium is needed, appropriate, and within our authorities."

Yeah, I’ll be happy if ours goes down to that.

And Brazil is drilling deeper wells in deeper water.

That's the whole point in what Obama is doing. He wants to destroy the oil industry, force us to "depend" on foreign oil in order to gin up his argument for "alternative energy."

Doesn’t some form of double jeopardy apply? How many of these lawless edicts can these idiot throw out there? This is not some childish game where you make the rules as you go. They had there chance and they failed. If this isn’t tyranny I don’t know what is.

Salazar should be made to resign. He lied about a scientific panel report.

"Salazar said in a statement that the new order will contain additional information making clear why the six-month drilling pause was necessary in the wake of the Gulf oil spill. "

I heard the White House was appealing today's decision. How can they legally issue a new drilling ban while appealing a court decision on their previous ban? Doesn't sound right to me.

At least Putin does not hate his nation and seek to undermine it. Putin is a thug, but a patriotic one.

Gulf coast folks yes, but a 6 month moratorium will kill the entire country. People who have jobs will not be able to afford the gas to get there. Truckers will not be able to make deliveries. The price will spike on all energy.

This asshole needs to go to prison and experience some hard time. They destroy the economy of the Gulf and then extort money from BP to pay for it.

I'm sure you're right, the thug would do just that.

“There is a jail cell in LA with Salazar’s name written all over it....”

EXACTLY! The judge should hold Salazar in contempt of court. The White House blatantly disregards the judicial branch . . . talk about a constitutional crisis. The Obama Administration don’t care about the rule of law, and has no shame in expressing its contempt for it.

It will be a dream come true to have Salazar arrested and jailed over his illegal actions. I work in a company active in deepwater Gulf of Mexico activities - he has caused utter chaos in the industry, costing countless millions with this illegal ban.
