Israel Air Force aircraft have been spotted in recent days at a Saudi Arabian military base unloading military equipment in the city of Tabuk, in northwestern Saudi Arabia, according to a report from Iranian news agency FARS.
The base will reportedly be used as a forward operating base by the Israelis as part of an offensive on an Islamic country.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend....but afterwards....
So the Iranians are trying to pick a fight with the Saudis. Why?
They sure have the jitters in Mullahland.
Good riddance to the Isalamic Republic of Iran
I can maybe see the Saudis looking the other way while the Israelis use their airspace if they think they have plausible deniability. That they would do something overt like this is Debka-style fantasy.
Huge airbase there but it is too close to a populated area and not very close to Iran. I doubt this base will be used to stage the attack. They need something far more isolated and located much closer to Iran.
Sunnis & Shi'ites have ALWAYS been fighting one another for control/dominance over the Middle East and for the unholy sites of islam.
The Saudi’s are terrified of a nuclear Iran, nuclear Israel has never bothered them. This has been sometime coming, obamas election assured that the Israelis have to do it themselves and even the Saudi’s know this. It will be an interesting strike, Isreal bombing and Saudi fighters up providing air defense.
I find it interesting that the Iranians would report it. It makes the regime appear more isolated in the Muslim world. The rulers of Araby are more interested in maintaining their cushy lives than annihilating Israel. Judenhass is boob bait for the masses, a distraction to ward off modernizing influences. They fear the Persians with good reason, mostly because their revolutionary fervor is roiling the waters the Islamic racket is floating on.
‘why the Israeli MSM is reporting this’
Perhaps it’s disinformation.
Maybe similar to Allied news ‘leaks’ about Patton leading an invasion into Dunkirk while the main invasion was going to Normandy.
I am really surprised that Iran hasn’t yet taken advantage of the chaos in the “O” administration to pull some kind of stunt in the ME.
?So the Iranians are trying to pick a fight with the Saudis. Why?
To run up the price of oil?
I was trying to think of JUST the right post...then I saw yours...PERFECT!!!
It is an interesting idea. I can't imagine the Saudi’s going along with this even if they want Iran put down, because there is no way they could hide their assistance after the fact.
“Iran On War Alert Over “US And Israeli Concentrations” In Azerbaijan”
Obama’s poll numbers tanking, time for a little Clintonesque ‘wag the dog’ to distract from his utter failure.
Barry has been refusing the Israelis for over a year, but now will relent in order to get the heat off himself. NOtice the 11 warships passing through the Suez earlier in the week. Mideast war by August, imho.
An FOB in Tabuk doesn't make sense as it would not be forward to Iran, or Syria, or Turkey. Only to Yemen or Oman, and only marginally (it's a short drive from Tabuk to the Jordanian border and Aqaaba, and Eilat from there).
Iran will not know when its coming and from what direction. All these reports could be intended to get Iran to look in the wrong direction.
The Shia Iranians and Sunni Saudis hate each other.
This could be a telegraph from Iran to Saudi, saying 'don't even think about it.'
story picking up some steam in Israel. INN now reporting it as well. More details, apparently the IDF forces landed in SA 10 days ago.
Reports: IAF Landed at Saudi Base, US Troops near Iran Border
(Israelnationalnews.com) The Israeli Air Force recently unloaded military equipment at a Saudi Arabia base, a semi-official Iranian news agency claimed Wednesday, while a large American force has massed in Azerbaijan, which is on the northwest border of Iran.
Both reports follow by less than a week the Pentagons confirmation that an unusually large American fleet sailed through the Suez Canal Saturday. Several reports stated that an Israeli ship joined the armada.
The Pentagon played down the news, saying the American maneuvers were routine. However, a report by Iran on Wednesday that it has enriched dozens of pounds of 17 per cent enriched uranium serves as a reminder that time is running out to stop Iran from being able to produce a nuclear weapon.
Irans Fars News Agency said the Israeli military aircraft landed 10 days ago at the Saudi base near the city of Tabuk, located in northwest Saudi Arabia, one of the closest areas in the oil kingdom to Iran.
Fars said that the Tabuk base will be the central station for an Israeli attack on Iran. It quoted an Islamic news site that a commercial airline passenger said the airport in Tabuk was closed to all other traffic during the alleged Israeli landings. The passenger said that “no reasonable explanation was given for shutting down the airport and those passengers were compensated financially and booked in four-star hotels.
The relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel have become the talk of the town, the passenger added. The chief authority in Tabuk, Prince Fahd ben Sultan, was reported be coordinating the cooperation with Israel.
Irans government-funded Press TV reported that the Revolutionary Guards began closely patrolling the Islamic Republics northwestern border after noticing the American forces, which Iran claimed also included Israeli troops. Azerbaijans independent Trend news site also reported on Wednesday that American armed forces are in the country, which is in an armed conflict with rebels.
Revolutionary Guards Brigadier General Mehdi Moini said Tuesday that his forces are mobilized due to the presence of American and Israeli forces on the western border. The Guards reportedly have called in tanks and anti-aircraft units to the area in what amounts to a war alert.
As signs point to a higher American-Israeli military profile aimed at Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, the Islamic Republics vice president and director of the nuclear program, announced Wednesday that Iran has produced another 37 pounds of uranium enriched to 20 percent. The production of the uranium defies United Nations demands that Iran stop its unsupervised nuclear development, although the 20 percent level is far below level that is needed to build a nuclear weapon.
“Potentially, we can produce 5 kilograms (11 pounds) a month, but we are not in a hurry over this,” Salehi told the semiofficial ISNA news agency.
A source from the secret Israeli base in Saudi Arabia says... the tough as nails Israeli Raid Commander has been identified!
Film... at 11!
The guy that got screwed in the Iranian election last year was an Azeri and they were not happy about it.
At this point in time only, my opinion is that Imanutjob and the Mullahs are mostly all camel and no hat. They're no way prepared for all-out war.
("Imanutjob and the Mullahs"......isn't that the audience warm-up act for the Beck-O'Reilly Traveling Road Show?)
(Unless, of course, they wanted to be spotted)
I fails to mention that the base is the King Faisal Air Base that is only 120 miles from Israel.
OK, forward staging need to be in forward locations.
This story was generated by FARS and PressTV, both PR wings of Iran. Pure nonsense.
If Israel were allowed to use Tabuk, where the Saudi's keep most of their F-15's, no one would know about it.
This story started with an air traveler at the public airport who saw an Israeli El AL cargo plane unloading freight to be trucked into Saudi Arabia as that is the only port of entry for Israeli airplanes.
I hope it’s true that Israel is doing something, but I have serious doubts about this report. I wish Israel would get on with it though - and finish the job thoroughly - which is probably the attitude of most Americans, most non-Islamic Europeans, and even most Arabs. The down side is that once Israel saves our bacon (why do I suspect that the Arabs don’t use that phrase?), everyone is going to complain about Israel, protest the actions they are secretly celebrating, and generally try to make Israel pay politically for doing what Obama is too big a sissy to do and every other country is too weak to risk.
I am sure zer0bama will back Iran and Ahminthemoodforjihad.
we might even shoot down Israeli jets if they fly over Iraq to attack Iran.
way to go America for voting in Hope and Change.
That's certainly possible.Who knows what individual/entity leaked this.Was it friends/enemies of Israel...friends/enemies of Iran?
with putin’s blessing
I’m with you . . . this story is non-sense. I’m more interesting in why the Israeli press is running this Iranian drivel.
Jpost and INN aren’t known for re-printing Iranian propoganda from FARS or PressTV
Looks like “over” is not the correct word. “In” is.
“The Shia Iranians and Sunni Saudis hate each other.”
Yes they do, but keep in mind that they tend to hate Jews and Christians even more than they hate each other. And (at least in religious terms) they hate other ‘infidels’ (Hindus, Buddhists, atheists) even more than they hate Jews and Christians.
Obama might order our fighters to intercept Israeli fighters to stop them from attacking Iran. Would he order US fighters to shoot down Saudi fighters? Doing so would be a no-win scenario.
But I agree with other posters that this seems Debka-style fantasy.
Someday, someone will do an indepth study on the last decade's worth of news stories about Israel's alleged imminent attack on Iran. Somewhere on in a building on a street in Tel Aviv, creative specialists are churning out these stories day after day after day after day.
They are both hungry for allies and looking to see who notices and responds to this hysteria.
Almost as silly as the recent article about Saudi Arabia testing its ability to lower its radar to allow Israelis to fly over. Laughable. The Iranians constantly monitor Saudi radar and would be tipped off immediately to an Israel attack. Any thinking person knows that if the Saudi's were cooperating, they would just give the Identify-Friend code to the Israeli aircraft and Iran would not know the difference between Israeli and Saudi F-15s.
I am mainly disappointed that Iranian and Israeli PR keep coming up with such cheap hustles. I want to at least be challenged for more than 2-3 seconds and at least be entertained with a better pack of lies.
“But I agree with other posters that this seems Debka-style fantasy.”
Which is why this story is so curious. JPost and INN are the Israeli equivalents of the Washington Post or Wall Street Journal. Very reputable news agencies . . . not typically prone to running “Debka-style” stories.
Oh oh! I bet that 0b0z0 the boy muzzie king is not happy with Israel using Saudi Arabia as a launching pad against 0b0z0’s Iranian terrorist friends & leader AmANutJob!
"Jpost and INN aren't known for re-printing Iranian propoganda from FARS or PressTV" <<<<
So, maybe it's a slow news day in Tel Aviv???
“I am mainly disappointed that Iranian and Israeli PR keep coming up with such cheap hustles. I want to at least be challenged for more than 2-3 seconds and at least be entertained with a better pack of lies.”
This kind of cheap hustle is usually reseved for Debka. Jpost and INN run there share of inflammatory op-ed stuff targeted against Iran. I don’t often see them print up this kind of junk . . . that’s PressTV, FARS and Debka territory.
Is that to rally all muslims against this?
Publicizing collaboration between Israel and Saudi Arabia (even if they made the story up, which I also doubt) serves several purposes. One, it tells the Saudis the Iranians are aware of their involvement in the inevitable Israeli action and that they can expect a reprisal from Iran. Two, it may create unrest among the Saudi population who (they hope) hate both Jews and the Royals more than Shiite Persians. And three, it puts the Saudis in a very bad light among those Arabs (Palestinians, Syrians, Shiite Lebanese and Iraqis) who really do hate Israel more than Iran.
But I do not doubt that the Saudis are concerned enough about what a nuclear Iran would mean to themselves and every other Arab government in the region to (temporarily) line up with the only country that has the means and the will to stop it. The Israeli press is reporting it because they are free to do so and (especially if true) it's one helluva story.
While I'd dearly love to see Iran get their a$$es handed to 'em, I'd sure like for all of us to be able to get out of the crossfire first.
tantalizing for sure...
