Sex education starts early, especially if you go to elementary school in Provincetown, Mass.
Thats because the school committee has unanimously adopted a condom distribution policy beginning as early as first grade.
According to the Provincetown Banner, the program requires that students speak to a school nurse or trained counselor before receiving condoms.
The committee also directed school leaders not to honor demands from parents who object to their kids receiving protection.
Some members on the committee were wary because the program requires that students speak to school officials first.
But Beth Singer, the schools superintendent, said she wanted to guarantee younger students get information on how to use condoms because there is no age limit.

It’s a beautiful area, but I prefer to visit elsewhere. Chatham and Brewster are nice.
That's less true than you might expect. There is indeed a very large gay community in P'town, particularly during the summer season. Most of the residents, however, are not gay. Provincetown, in the off season at least, is a working class town of folks largely of Portuguese descent. It has always been a fishing community and I expect most families have been there for generations. The bulk of the school kids there are year-rounders with a certain number who may have two mommies or two daddies.
Believe it or not Provincetown is a family-friendly resort town with beaches, whale watches and miles of gorgeous bike trails through the dunes. Gotta have a conversation with the kids first about men holding hands so no one gets caught by surprise though. Plus, the Portuguese restaurants are super.

"What's the matter?" asked the Director.
The nurse shrugged her shoulders. "Nothing much," she answered. "It's just that this little boy seems rather reluctant to join in the ordinary erotic play. I'd noticed it once or twice before. And now again to-day. He started yelling just now "
"Honestly," put in the anxious-looking little girl, "I didn't mean to hurt him or anything. Honestly."
"Of course you didn't, dear," said the nurse reassuringly. "And so," she went on, turning back to the Director, "I'm taking him in to see the Assistant Superintendent of Psychology. Just to see if anything's at all abnormal."
"Quite right," said the Director. "Take him in. You stay here, little girl," he added, as the nurse moved away with her still howling charge. "What's your name?"
"Polly Trotsky."
"And a very good name too," said the Director. "Run away now and see if you can find some other little boy to play with."
Brave New World
Too crowded! It all is, really.
I like Truro best of all.
I’ve never spent any time in Truro, although I have heard good things about it.
Obviously, you’ve never heard of Provincetown. I’ve heard stories about it, so I’m not surprised.
Just a guess - but Provincetown probably has a number of same sex parent families who support the idea. But the first grade? Second? Third? Yikes. Why do people keep insisting that the little, pre-pubescent children be sexualized? The kids should be laughing at the funny 'balloons' the older kids got at school.
Well said - mental molestation is an apt term. I think, hope in future generations, folks will be looking at this as a 'failed' education 'trend'.
My family used to vacation on the Cape in the 60’s-70’s. P-town has been a summer homo haven as far back as I can remember.
As Atlas Stalled knows very well (he has posted many articles on the subject) La Cosa Nostra owned most of the gay bars in the northeast until the late 1970s.
Provincetown:Nothing a tsunami couldn’t cure!
Really makes you wonder how low is it going to get.
Where are the parents in this district and why hasn't there been an outcry? Have people become so desensitized to the mental molestation of their kids by the state that they do nothing now?
If this happened in my school district you'd no longer have to worry about apathy.
Without getting too graphic, could you describe what happened to P’town that made your father-in-law cry?
Nowadays, we fail to do it at our own risk. Way more often than not, we're right.
I’ve heard numerous eyewitness accounts of open homo-sex on the beaches. Homos are fighting for their right to do this unhindered.
Well,,, I was very disappointed! I was expecting to meet and romance some nice young Italian cocktail waitresses! Turned into a work experience I’ll never forget!
Thanks for the tip!
Bars and cafes full of homos who feel no compunction about acting outrageously "queen"-y in public because they are in control. Transvestites. Lesbians in full butch dyke regalia.
Utterly repulsive.
He remembered a quaint fishing town with charming homes and shops. The homos had turned it into a physical representation of their garish, puerile imaginations.
