" . . . it is also clear that Hal has been wrong about fitting modern events into Biblical prophesy many times in the past so I don't get quite as excited about the connections he makes as he does. " ---------------------------------

The Scriptures must not be interpreted by what one sees around him; rather one must judge what one sees by the Scriptures.

Your looking too high.

Better to look too high than too low.

I don’t know what Lindsay says, but a man named John McTernan has connected the dots between American going against Israel and disasters happening in this country.

Where was Hillary on April 20?

I don’t think God is so petty, as to punish people, ruin the land, and kill animals, for doing things He knows they will do.

Hal Lindsey’s credibility is just about good as Barack Obama’s and Satan’s. Lets take all the prophecies in the Bible and decided that they are relevant today. Lets see the first born male should die, locusts grashoppers and many other plaques will be released onto the earth. The evil of the nation has caused for problems. BUT, the location and the the usage of improper techniques, poor concrete and stupidity. God does keep his promises. But the likes of Hal Lindsey, Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson, Marilyn Hickey, Roberts Liardon, Benny Hinn and so on. They are nothing but charltans, snake oil salesman. Better known as false prophets.

"The one who blesses you, I will bless; and the one who curses you, I will curse" is not a "prophecy." It is a divine promise. It is true that the BP oil leak in the Gulf started immediately after it became clear that the United States would not automatically support Israel in case Israel is attacked. I do not see that as fulfillment of a "prophecy." I see it as God keeping His promise to Abraham.

I also believe that when our nation wakes up and elects a government that goes back to supporting Israel, that our nation will begin healing again.

God does not rein down lightning bolts and calamities upon the earth. However, He is extremely interested in how we humans react and treat each other in times of misfortune.

I believe you are mincing words. According to Webster prophecy is defined as to predict what is going to happen; predict with divine authority: to supposedly reveal the will of a deity in predicting a future event

God's promises ARE prophetic.

Well, they haven't yet, so I guess we'll see.

Don't you mean "IF" ?

One thing that's gnawed at me for years has been that every prophetic analysis I've read tries to link certain modern countries to ancient end time prophecies. Such as speaking about Russia and Iran as fitting into the end times scenarios. I've also seen reference to the European Union. There are other references in prophecies to leaders and powers and countries involved in Armageddon. The one thing I see that is never referenced, is us. The more I see this country "going to hell in a handbasket" the more I am beginning to believe that we may not even exist as a viable world power by the time of the end. We have had a special place in history, albeit a very short one. We have as a nation left the protection of Almighty by our own doing. All the other great powers of the world fell at one time. Our time could be at hand.

This verse and promise from God Almighty has seen the rising and falling of many, including nations and kingdoms throughout history.

Genesis 12:3, "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."

It has been a pattern I've seen in my own life. I've noticed where people who would curse me or do me wrong, end up, without fail, being cursed themselves. The president better wake up, and wake up fast, because he is steering this once great country into the trash bin of history with his antisemitic policies and behavior.

God will not be mocked.

Very good points, all. And you could very well be correct. I've heard prophesies about the calamity that will befall the USA though the source eludes me now. If anyone knows what I'm referring to I'd be appreciative of the help.

But yes, I agree that whatever remains of the USA after God judges it will be in no shape to help anyone and most likely its destruction will be so complete that it will survive only with the help from other nations.

I agree that God's promise to Abraham set the stage for Biblical prophecy. And I would agree that it is a general prophetical principle that blessing Israel results in blessing on one's self and cursing Israel.. yada yada. However, prophecy is generally uttered through a prophet or to a prophet through an angel (messenger). Promises are generally uttered by God himself.

Promises are given by God....but the events that occur because of the promises are prophetic. They are events that will happen in the future (good and bad) depending upon the freewill of man.

God does not rein down lightning bolts and calamities upon the earth. However, He is extremely interested in how we humans react and treat each other in times of misfortune.

Revelation 8 1And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

2And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

3And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

4And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

5And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

6And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

7The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

8And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;

9And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

10And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;....

God blesses and curses.
