President Obama has fired the warrior's warrior, in the mind of the Narcissus, he visualizes a great personal victory and assumes the rest of the world admires his triumph over an insubordinate General who was respected by his troops and feared by the enemy. Traits the self-conscious Narcissus, feels in his heart, are rightfully his.
Now with the symbolic head of the general in his left hand and the bloody symbolic sword of retribution and revenge in his right hand, Obama poses for the rest of the world, while silently intimating how he, Obama The Omnipotent, will deal with anyone with the audacity to let his staff mock the Obama Administration. Thus the Mighty will fall and the Giant Slayer is more than ready with summary justice to all who doubt or ridicule.
How easy it was for Obama to reclaim his perceived loss of honor, like Hot Spur's hyperbole laden speech, in Henry IV, alluding to the acquisition of honor, Obama sees the firing of his General as necessary to maintain his personal allusions to honor and dignity.
By heaven methinks it were an easy leap
To pluck bright honour from the pale-fac'd moon
Or dive to the bottom of the deep,
Where fathom line could never touch the ground
And pluck drowned honour by the locks
Thus Obama denies his arrogance and hubris, decapitates his popular General to recoup his pride by grasping for a solution rather than an analysis of the problem; consequently, the problem remains as a festering impaction, just beneath his overly thin skin, whose corruption will spill forth, one day, like the crude in the Gulf.

Well said, and it shows what a major cancer this country is suffering from.
“silently intimating how he, Obama The Omnipotent, will deal with anyone with the audacity to let his staff mock the Obama Administration.”
I hate Obama as much as the next guy, but the general had to go.
Seriously, the author doesn’t know the difference between “Narcissus” and “a narcissist”?
Yikes.
The gushing flow of oil in the Gulf has become a metaphor for Obama's disastrous presidency. An unchecked torrent of deficit spending, an out-of-control accumulation of toxic national debt, and an unwillingness to deal with either problem.
Caligula didn’t get along with his military leaders either, especially Cassius Chaerea.
I think the general had to go - his behavior (undermining superiors) is known down to pull down command structures and ultimately reduce morale. However, the swiftness of Obama’s response in this instance after taking so many weeks to respond to the oil spill or other issues, makes me think that Obama is ignorant of leadership theory and was acting quickly to protect his self image. It works out fine, IMHO because the results are the same. I think it also appealed to Obama’s ‘Chicago Way’ instincts to ‘get’ to do something like this because on his own, he cannot command respect. Of the narcissists in politics, Obama seems to be the most malevolent/dysfunctional of them all.
I’m aware of who Narcissus is.
I’m also aware that since he’s a person, he doesn’t get a “the” in front of his name.
Sort of like how I’m Xenalyte, not “the Xenalyte.”
I will, however, cop to being the ONE AND ONLY Xenalyte. ;p
John McCain and his new friend, Joe Lieberman, think Obama did the right thing (sarcasm).

Yes, he even has Slick Willy beat.
The General is a deeply intelligent and stategic gentleman.
He wanted to go IMHO, and did a damn good job letting the public know exactly what the fighting military command officers think of the Obama administration.Obama just doesn't make the A team.
And he used a leftist rag to do it.
Kudos to him, and he did a service to our nation.
