A cop-killer who is the son of the Dallas police chief continued to stir deep emotions Friday as he headed to his grave.
An apparent last-minute decision by a deputy police chief to provide assistance during part of David Brown Jr.'s funeral procession angered some police associations. The city manager quickly issued a written statement distancing herself and Chief David Brown from the decision.

So who gets the police escort to the funeral? The cop killer. DPD officers on talk radio last night were disgusted and outraged.
BTW the police chief had hired a private motorcycle escort service for the funeral procession but his right hand man ordered on duty cops off their regular assignments to honor a cop killer.
Then we can make informed comments.

Leni, There was no risk of reprisal and an assistant chief decided that the procession needed a dozen on duty cops to augment the private escort to honor the cop killing son of his boss.
It read to me as if the traffic conditions observed as the funeral procession was in progress were such that innocent members of the procession and the general public were at risk. And it’s the DPD’s job to protect the public. This had nothing to do with ‘honoring’ the deceased in any way.
I think I know all I need to know about this story after researching the killer.....
They simply should have carried the body of the killer out of the morgue and dumped it into the dumpster out back. Nothing more, just taking out the trash.
Even closing the lid would have been way over the top as far as providing any respect for the body.
Even if public safety was an issue, a dozen additional motorcycles plus a squad car plus closing exits seems excessive. How big a procession was this? The cop killer must have has a lot of friends.
A Dallas motorcade ... what could go wrong?
