Toxic Living June 28, 2010
Picher, Oklahoma, is no more. In mid-2009, this once-bustling town of 20,000 went out of business. In the first quarter of the 1900s, Picher was a boomtown because of its abundant lead and zinc. Workers extracted the ore, which was used to help arm the US during both World Wars.
The town faded as the ore began to run outbut the biggest problem was that while the lead and zinc brought wealth, they also brought pollution. Because nothing was done to deal with the pollution, Picher became a toxic wasteland, and the government condemned the land.
What happened to Picher can happen to people. Prosperity can look so good that its hard to think about possible downsides. Actions that are detrimental to long-term spiritual health are accepted, and unless the problem is corrected, destruction follows. It happened to King Saul. He began as a good king, but in seeking success he failed to see the damage he was doing. Turning his back on Gods commands, he acted foolishly (1 Sam. 13:13) and lost his kingdom (v.14).
In our attempts to find success, we need to watch out for spiritual pollution that comes when we fail to follow Gods clear scriptural guidelines. Godly living always beats toxic living.
The Lord has given us commands
And told us to obey;
Our own designs are sure to fail
If we neglect His way! Bosch
Samuel said to Saul, You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord.
1 Samuel 13:13

The whole internet seems to be really really show. Trying to do anything with the internet, not just FR, has been horrid for days.
Did you have a restful weekend? How is the dog doing in the heat?

For Me it’s only FR. Everything else is working to spec.
Yes thank you, I had a good week-end. He’s managing by eating lots of ice and laying on the cool tile floors. Tommorow, he goes to the groomers to, as my daughter says get a GI Buzz Cut.
Did you as well?

Good for her....trying new things, supervised, is good for building trust with little ones and their Dads. I'm getting a chuckle at the mental picture of the mini dirt bike with training wheels. Does she ride a bicycle yet?
A good depiction?

That's pretty close but she has a little Suzuki 50cc jr with training wheels on the rear tire axel. She also wears her daddy's helmet, biker jeans and a black Fox racing jersey and......very stylish rubbah slippahs.
If she sees your picture, we'll have to get her a whole new outfit. Pink is her favorite color. Wahines!

Good evening, HJ....a relaxing weekend for you and Nana? Ready for the monsoons? We finally had some really good rain. Gentle enough and long enough for a good soak. And it is really helping out in the interior will all the fires.

Aloha Jinxy!
Not by herself. Her daddy held her to make the jump. It was something she'd been saying she wanted to do and today, testing her resolve, my son took her up there to see if she really would do it. And, yes, she's five.
Most of time, the kids frolic in about knee deep water on Coconut Island's tiny sand beaches. From there they see the bigger kids jumping from the tower.....so 'Tana said she wanted to do it too.
