The smooth passage of the final Wall Street reform bill later this week just got tougher.

Senate Democrats on Monday were scrambling to secure the60 votes they need to overcome a GOP filibuster following the death of Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., and critical comments by Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, a moderate Republican who had been supportive of the legislation.

The hang up for Brown: A provision that would charge banks and hedge funds a new tax to pay the $19 billion ten-year tab for implementing the new reforms. A Brown spokeswoman on Monday reiterated that Brown "cannot support any bill that raises taxes."

The hang up for any reasoned person should be that the bill is 2000+ pages long. This is just another POS bill which no one person has a complete idea of what it really will do.

No problem. Hussein will simply buy Brown the phony republican off, just as he has others in the past.

Methinks the shutting of the eye of the `Grand Cyclops` (Byrd’s KKK honorary title) makes this a more sticky proposition to pass for the Socialist majority

I have a feeling Ried is pretty upset that someone let the cat out of the bag about Byrd being dead. I still wonder how he’s been able to vote the past six months.

I’m sure they’ll pop someone in there right away who will do Obummer’s bidding, and without having to be dragged in from the hospital.

‘he helped SKerry introduce her to the Judicial Sub Committee today’

This is called Senatorial Courtesy and is the way they do things there. It is far from uncommon for a home state senator to ‘introduce’ a nominee from their state and then vote against them. Having said that, if a majority of the GOP votes for her confirmation, he will likely be one of them.
