MONTEREY - The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed Friday that the FBI did contact the control tower at Monterey Peninsula Airport on Sunday because it was concerned about a plane towing a banner above the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.
FAA spokesman Lynn Lundsford had said that he was unable to locate a record of the request. His colleague, spokesman Ian Gregor, said Friday that the record wasn't found earlier because the call from the FBI went directly to the airport control tower.
Gregor said in the FBI agent who called "expressed some concerns about a banner-tower." The banner read TIGER: ARE YOU MY DADDY?

Domestic banner terrorism alert.
Flying that plane over the golf tournament is like being a democrat and/or a union member using the same tactics they do. Has nothing to do with the Supreme Court or anything else except what’s in your mind. I don’t think we are talking about the same thing. You do know the left has no manners.
Tactics? What about the Tea Party? What if I wanted to carry a sign or fly a banner (same thing) over a town hall meeting to express my thots about someone or some action. What if a sports team is changing their name or location, am I not allowed to fly a banner saying my thots? I don’t necessarily have to like what the banner says, but don’t we have a right to fly one in a FREE society?
FBI involved in manners? Maybe I need more coffee, but I don’t see any criminal law involved in this—if there was, it would be LOCAL ordinances, and the local police would be asking a pilot to stop flying over golf tournament. Again, why would the FBI wd be brought in preemptively? Because something is in bad taste?~ And since when do they preempt activities anyway?! Don’t they come in after a federal crime is committed? Where is the federal crime? I am not a lawyer, but conspiracy to fly a banner to annoy Tiger is not a Fed. crime?
What I do see is First Amendment violation and very odd tactics. No one cares that much because it was a golf tournament, but what if it was a Tea Party rally?
