TAMPA - Two Tampa police officers died from injuries sustained during a shooting while they conducted a traffic stop early this morning. A massive search is under way for the suspects a man and woman in a red 1994 Toyota Camry. Officer Jeffrey Kocab, 31, had been with the department for about 14 months and leaves behind a wife who is nine months pregnant. Officer Dave Curtis, 31, had been with the department for almost four years and has four young children.

Details are sketchy, but it's know they were attempting to arrest a male passenger on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
The story is being updated by TBO as more becomes available.
The perp is wanted for a bad check in Jacksonville, maybe they didn’t think it was serious enough to expect trouble. That is always a mistake!
God bless these officers & comfort their families.
They finally admitted it was two young blacks. Took them all night. Gang bangers who think they can act out because they are opressed and that justifies their actions against Whitey. The Cops should profile these domestic terrorists.
How sad, two young men with young families, doing their job to protect us all. Heartbreaking.
The perp is a sheer genius: try to avoid a misdemeanor by murdering 2 policemen in a state that’s among the top of the list of those that actually execute murderers.
Hillsborough deputies are helping search for the Camry's occupants. The driver is a black female. The passenger is a black man in his mid- to late 20s. He's about 5-foot-10 and 150 to 170 pounds. He has a 1-inch afro and was last seen wearing brown shorts, a white shirt, a black vest and white sneakers, McElroy said.
Lots of unanswered questions here, obviously. At the presser, police chief stated that body armor was not an issue, thus we can assume that both were shot in the head. Perp was obviously not handcuffed.
Horribly tragic. What else can be said.

i am sure we will find out that the shooter has alot more than a bad check writing charge....they already said on the radio this morning that he has a long rap sheet....they suspect that they are trying to make it back to the jacksonville area where the shooter donte’ has a girlfriend and has been seen there on many occassions....
there has been a rash of cops being killed in the last year and a half across this country....127 last year and so far 88 to date this year....what would be interesting to know is the breakdown of the shooters....
black, white, hispanic etc....
prayers up for these policemens families.....
???.
Freaking animals. Kill for a bad check.
RIP.
The last guy that shot a cop was caught and had about 50 bullets in him. I guess the search party will carry more ammo this time?
These murderers should be hanged. No life without parole, just hang them before they continue to infect the gene pool.
Sounds like they were operating in Condition “White”. Very dangerous to be in during any arrest situation.
“In White you are unprepared and unready to take lethal action. If you are attacked in White you will probably die unless your adversary is totally inept.
In Yellow you bring yourself to the understanding that your life may be in danger and that you may have to do something about it.
In Orange you have determined upon a specific adversary and are prepared to take action which may result in his death, but you are not in a lethal mode.
In Red you are in a lethal mode and will shoot if circumstances warrant.”
Col Jeff Cooper
If found these two are short lived! You don’t shoot two officers here in Florida and live long to tell about it. What did the Sheriff in Polk County say the last time they killed a cop killer? “Sheriff why did the officers use 68 rounds to bring the suspect down? Sheriff: That’s all the ammunition that had!”
“Freaking animals. Kill for a bad check.”

Animals almost always kill for a reason.
These are amoral savages.
Two Americas.
Killed two cops in cold blood? I think the death penalty is a given here, and well-deserved.
