Statement from Larry King Posted: 07:10 PM ET

=======================================================================

SNIP SNIP

"I’ll still be a part of the CNN family, hosting several Larry King specials on major national and international subjects.

I’m incredibly proud that we recently made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot. With this chapter closing I’m looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders."

Well, I guess he’s telling us that he still isn’t going to try and keep his pants up.

SOME NEWS I’VE HEARD:

* Larry King will continue to host specials for CNN on on “major national and international subjects.”

* Larry King Live had a rating slide of 37% between the 2nd quarter of 2009 and the same period 2010.

* According to the Associated Press, King has said if it was up to him, Ryan Seacrest would be the best choice to fill his shoes.

* There’s been speculation that King would be leaving for several months now, with America’s Got Talent’s Piers Morgan and CBS News Anchor, Katie Couric floated as possible replacements.

The real reason for this move is, he needs more free time this year to attend the retirement parties of a bunch of his grandchildren.

Yawn......

He’s been the turd sandwich of giant douches since forever.
Way to go, ol’ Lar, for your prescience, but you are about 20 years too late.
You will always be known as the wannabe - has-been of television.
Don’t let the door hit you in the hemorrhoid on the way out.

I thought he was paying alimony to too many ex-wives to be able to retire.

Contributing no doubt to that “slide” was that laughable self-promo which ends with LK crossing his skinny legs in those oversized blue jeans while placing his hand underneath his chin with the “Hey look at me” goofy grin

Like that was supposed to be cool or somethin’ ‘

ROFL

I can understand why celebrities and politicians prefer to be interviewed by Larry King ( instead of say, Tim Russert or Chris Wallace ). He goes EASY on them.

He’s like your friendly psychiatrist on the couch. The difference is — he doesn’t press too much.

His specialty is making you look good and sympathetic on TV, even if you’re a certified jerk.

I think the last time I watched his show it was in the late 80’s and Tom Clancy was the guest.

About 15 years overdue. Least I never wasted time actually watching his show, save for any clips others showed of his worst moments.

And Larry, making Guiness for the “longest running show” ain’t nearly as good as one that has “highest ratings” or “most watched”. Longest running means CNN couldn;t find anything better than you, and that’s an extremely sad commentary about CNN and your “longest running” show. Your show was death on crutches.
