10 years on, Elian not angry at Miami relatives

Elian Gonzalez says he's not angry at his Miami relatives who fought to keep him in the United States during a nasty international custody battle a decade ago, and is thankful "a large part of the American public" supported him being reunited with his father in Cuba.

Now 16,

Gonzalez's first comments to foreign reporters in years came after President Raul Castro attended a state celebration Wednesday night marking the 10th anniversary of the famous ex-castaway's return to the island.

"Even though they didn't help me in every way possible, they didn't help me move forward, they are still my own family," Gonzalez said of his South Florida relatives, speaking in a shy, almost timid voice

I was appalled when this happened. Especially for two facts. His mother died trying to get her son to freedom. And he was re-educated at the Wye Plantation into Communism at taxpayer expense. The Wyeplantation, where his schoolfriends had been flown to help him readjust to Communism and Cuban life. I will never forgive the Clintons for taking this boy's best chance at living a free life. I remember the weeks of brainwashing it took. I also remember thinking 'it must be tough to remove Disney World from a young boy's memories'.

The photo at the time told the whole story.

I wonder what that fed feels today.

Elian has clearly learned ‘right thought’.

One positive thing that came out of this: Gore lost Florida because of this outrage, which cost him the election. RATS are just no damn good.

I still can’t get over the hilarity of that photo. Janet Reno’s swat team pretending they’re friggin SEAL Team 6.

“Even though they didn’t help me in every way possible, they didn’t help me move forward, they are still my own family”

For “not being angry at his relatives” that’s a pretty snarky comment and one that was obviously scripted by the commie media apparatchiks.

And we know Elian is telling the truth because???

If he wanted to get to the US, would he feel free to say it in Castro’s Cuba?

That photo makes me sick and seething EVERY time I see it!

Under what rock do these Kagan and Reno types come from?

I need to log. I feel my blood pressure going up.

There’s no such thing as a parent with parental rights in a Communist gulag. In Cuba, children are property of the state, and the state is Castro. His mother knew that and died to get him the hell away from it. That he was hijacked and returned to the gulag at the gunpoint of Janet Reno’s Gestapo Stormtroopers was an abomination of the highest order.

'"The boy of yesterday is now a Cuban like any other," said the Communist Youth newspaper Juventud Rebelde, adding that "a decade after being used as a toy by the enemies of the revolution ... he is preparing to be a future officer of the Revolutionary Armed Forces."'

There is nothing more to say.

Pan_Yan has always felt terribly for the agent holding the gun in that picture. He didn’t know what was on the other side of that door when the door opened. He thinks that the man must feel horrible about that picture. The big, bad guy holding the gun while the child is crying and screaming. It is an awful picture. No man would feel good about that.

I’ve said that the good thing is that the man is wearing a mask, to hide who he is. Hopefully he has gone on with his life.

The whole thing is a terrible page in American history. May hell rain down on Bill Clinton one day.

He also said to the reporters that he is happy in Cuba -- just look at this picture... It breaks your heart.

He has to tow the party line, if he wants to stay alive, it's that simple.

Just look at Raoul Castro's arm around him.

“A boy needs to be with his father.”

Even when the father is committing child abuse?

Returning Elian to Cuba WAS subjecting him to child abuse.

Not to mention that it wasn’t his real Father who wanted him back, but Fidel Castro, who ORDERED the Father to bring Elian back to Cuba.

You are sadly completely unaware of the oppression that exists in Cuba.
