A Marine who graduated from West Jefferson High School was killed Friday in Baltimore while celebrating his deployment to Afghanistan.
Chase Love, 26, was on the dance floor of the Queen's Hookah Lounge and Club when he was fatally shot, according to The Associated Press.
No gun was recovered, and police had no suspects, said Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the city's police department.
Love is the third active-duty service member to be slain in Baltimore since December. Last month, an off-duty city police officer was charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a former Marine outside a nightclub.
Love "was an amazing athlete and an amazing young man," said Mary Carter, West Jefferson's athletic director.
The honor-roll student was voted most athletic. He was a member of the school's championship cross-country team.
"He was just a wonderful kid, just as happy as he could be," said Randy Kennedy, an assistant coach. "He always had a smile on his face. I just can't comprehend it right now."
Love was celebrating with fellow Marines when the shooting occurred.
In the last school year he stopped by the West Bank campus to say hello to friends and coaches.
Love liked being a Marine, said Franco Martin, the school's cross-country coach.
"I can't think of anything negative to say about him," Martin said.
"He made friends easily. He always gave 100 percent. Nothing got him down. He had a positive attitude.

Is it time to abandon Baltimore? No, it's time to clean it out.
To: BBell
Poor kid. He was safer in Iraq than in Baltimore. Very sad.

Hookah Lounge?
Yes,
Time to cut and run from Baltimore, Chicago and Detroit.

Once the rats take over they are hard to clean out. Look at Detroit as an example.

Considering that it was a Hookah lounge, my guess is that the clientele are primarily of Arabic descent......which may provide some clue as to why the Marine was shot.

I had not thought of that as I just learned what a Hookah lounge is. Maybe after serving in Iraq these Marines felt a camaraderie with Arabs that the local Arabs did not.

Check out the article in post #5, there's more revealing info on the neighborhood where that Arab hangout is.........And especially the other two shootings where robbery wasn't involved.

There was a dance floor at the hookah lounge? The lounge in my neighborhood never has any woman in it.

Someone gets shot in a closed room and no one hears or sees anything.
Charge them all with murder and line them up in front of a brick wall.
Talk about a hate crime!!!!!! How many co-conspirators can you fit into one room???? Everyone in that room knew exactly what happened and most know who did it.
Line them up then lock and load. Start with the one on the right end of the line, asks him questions and if he doesn't tell you who what and where gut shoot him and go on to the next guy. It won't take long until you get the truth. Give this truth to the marines he served with and get the hell out of the way. You do not pass a law to cure cancer and you can not pass a law to deal with these maggots. This disease has to be forcefully and permanently removed.

Me either. I know what they are, however. They tried to open some in the Seattle area but the anti-smoking nazi’s have too much power, even in this cowardly liberal city. I don’t live there, it is uninhabitable for conservatives.

Folks we have over a million documented terrorists in the United States.
We call them gang members and undoubtedly one of them killed this Marine.

Condolences to his family, friends, and fellow Marines.
Baltimore is one of those places that does not support one's defending oneself.
To: BBell

Maybe it's time to send in the Marines.
To: BBell
Hookah is actually somewhat popular with the younger crowd. So it’s not exactly a dead give away it was only Arabs hanging out there.
To: BBell
Hmmm... must have just missed each other in High school. 26 means he probably started at West Jeff the year after I graduated.
