Former Justice Attorney Set to Testify in New Black Panther Case
fox ^ | 7/5/10 | Eric Shawn

A former Justice official who claims the administration backed off a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party for racial reasons is set to testify Tuesday before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

The testimony from J. Christian Adams, who resigned from the Justice Department last month in protest of the administration's handling of the case, comes after he made a series of explosive allegations during an interview with Fox News last week. He said the administration abandoned an open-and-shut case of voter intimidation and that Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez gave false testimony before the commission in May.

“Wanna bet nothing happens to Holder or his Black Panther buddies?”

Nope, nor do I want to provide personnel safety insurance to J Christian Adams!

The face remains that we must stand up for Justice, particularly in this case, since this man has put his future and life on the line for our future rights and Justice! IMHO

But Adams, the former administration lawyer, accused the Justice Department of not continuing the case for political and racial reasons.

I just love it when people show true courage on behalf of what's right.

This should have been a huge deal.

The last evidence of poll intimidation in the 60’s in the south brought the full weight of the feds down.

I don’t believe in 2 wrongs making a right.

Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord, I will repay.

Gerald Walpin (fired inspector general - hope I got his name right) should have been a big deal as well. That reeked of corruption and the white house was directly involved in his removal from office for a finding against a FOB (friend of Barry).

What ever happened to that story? The MSM does not cover this stuff and it usually fizzles out but some of these things will stick, especially if we take back part of congress.

The decision to drop this case was outrageous and one questions how any future prosecution could occur. It was blatant and fit every element of the law.

*************

I will not take your bet, sir. The purpose of this inquiry will be to neutralize, humilate and make an example of Adams, is my guess.

But then the administration moved to dismiss the charges the following month after getting one of the New Black Panther members to agree to not carry a "deadly weapon" near a polling place until 2012. The department boasted that justice had been served.

WTF?

Why, if they catch them doing that again, they’ll go on double secret probation! The Panthers must be quaking in their Nikes. What a wimpy response.

So they’re allowed to carry deadly weapons near polling stations in 2012? Oh..wait...now it makes sense.

Your guess is, and will be, wrong.

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, currently run by a majority of Bush era appointees, has conducted this investigation very thoroughly and seriously. This even though Obummer and Holder's Justice Department has illegally obstructed the investigation, and illegally refused to comply with disclosure requirements and subpoenas.

The Commission will doubtless continue to press this investigation. But that will all change this coming December, when Obummer and the lame duck Congress will be able to take over the Commission with their appointments. Before then you might want to download the case documents and transcripts, which will surely be shoved down the memory hole by next year.

Good. I am glad to see more people coming forward. Hope this guy is being supported instead of hearing the usual whining of “Oh, woe is me; nothing can be done”.

Excuse me; America would not exist if it were not for the strong; not the fools who sit there and whine nothing can be done.

I'd prefer to hear him asking the questions, so long as they include, "Would you like fries with that?"

I dunno. "Washington Journal" on C-Span 1 continues until 10:00 Eastern, which is half an hour after the hearing starts. There's nothing past that on the schedule available at the website, but there current item on C-Span 2 (Stewart Udall Memorial Service) will be over at 9:25, in time for the hearing.

There is no video (but there is a transcript) for the previous 5/14 hearing where Perez testilied [sic]. OTOH there is video, via YouTube, of the preceding 4/23 hearing where we heard the election day eyewitnesses and congressman Wolf. So maybe video of this hearing will eventually be made available, even if not televised.

Although, granted that the Democrat Commissioners will probably try to discredit Adams.

They will suggest he is a "disgruntled former employee" (which is the Justice Department line). But this should be hard to sell. Apparently Adams had a good work record. He has claimed he was recently promoted, very happy with his work, and at the top of the pay scale when he resigned.

The Dems will point out that Adams is a conservative Republican, which he is. But the response will be, "So, are you suggesting conservatives should not be encouraged or allowed to serve in Civil Rights, Voting Rights, or maybe even in the Justice Department period?" Which of course is the position of the Dems, but they can hardly say so.

They will also point out that much of Adams' testimony is hearsay. Again, this will be true. But it will only serve as an occassion to remind everyone that Holder is illegally preventing those attorneys who were in the relevant meeting(s) from responding to the Commission's legal subpoenas.

folk singers
at Udall memorial service...

So we’ll see in a few. Is the Senate currently in session? If so then C-Span 2 will obviously go to Senate coverage.

How come this memorial service is running long? It’s not live.

Now there’s some native american woman praising Udal for how much he blamed America for bad stuff (Manifest Destiny, raping the environment, etc).

He’s dead, Jane.
