"Under an executive order from Mayor Gavin Newsom, Coke, Pepsi and Fanta Orange are no longer allowed in vending machines on city property, although their diet counterparts are - up to a point."

Somehow the “commerce clause” comes to mind.
The libs are at war with anything that takes their power, or leaves you any liberty.
If I may quote Judge Smales fron the movie “Caddyshack”..
“How ‘bout a Fresca? Hmm? Hmmm?”
Lol...Meanwhile cocaine, heroin and meth run rampant....
Give me the “real sugar” drinks, not the high fructose corn syrup stuff. I can’t quit you, Throwback!
Ha ha ha ha ha! Pepsico has sucked up to the Obama left and what did it get them?
Marx said The last capitalist we hang shall be the one who sold us the rope.
Do those SF vending machines sell condoms and AIDS curing pills too?
Gosh, all those libs must feel so warm and fuzzy to know how much “Dad” cares about them.
“Lol...Meanwhile cocaine, heroin and meth run rampant....”
But they are not FATTENING. The only greasy, high-cal stuff they want to see is the stuff they wipe on their hair.
"The future is going to be affected," Park said. "But I don't want to be in trouble with the mayor. I like him very much."
Is she likely to vote for him again! COUNT ON IT - LOL!!
Warm and fuzzy? Yes.
Cold and fizzy? No.
Wii San Fran still allow...Fruit punch?
Gimme a break...
Oh how exciting! Soy milk - YEAH BABY!
While I happen to agree that Coke and Pepsi, as well as all soda drinks, are unhealthy I violently disagree that CommieCrate employees have the right to tell me what to ingest.
God gave me a brain to make these decisions with, as well as, a stomach to fill!
I see a problem there. They would have to rename it from “Fruit Punch” to “Rainbow Coalition Surprise.”
Something is wrong here.
Sugary drinks are made with natural sweeteners.
Diet drinks are made with sweeteners made in the chem lab.
Libs really want kids to drink the latter? Isn’t that against their ‘religion?’
What about Kool Aid? Snickers? Mars? Little Debbie? Marie Callender's? Pizza Hut? All these products full of sugar and fat?
Sue one, sue them all.
These companies should all counter-sue for unfair treatment.
Go through each grocery store and find thousands of products that are "unhealthy". Jelly? Cheese? Whole milk? White rice? Creamora? Lucky Charms?
It's endless.
No that it matters in this case, granulated sugar is making a comeback.
If Newsom banned these things from San Francisco entirely, there might be a cause under the Commerce Clause. It would take a lawyer to explain why or why not it would apply. He is banning them from machines on city property. I would hope that if the companies affected are unionized, that their members would raise holy hell. But then again, if San Francisco politicians continue with policies that hurt their supporters, then who am I to object?
And the Leftist call Conservatives “fascist”... Methings someone needs to look in the mirror.
Now now FlyVet, have patience. They WILL get around to banning all these things. They are patient and incremental. It took them a Century to get an American Hating Socialist elected as President. They will patiently wait to get more of their agenda accomplished.
LOL - but when the libtards look in the mirror there is no reflection. Now what does THAT tell you!
Libs are the original proponents of “Better Living Through Chemistry.” Sugar Bad. Lab chemicals good.
The vendors are going to have to pull a lot of these machines off city property, they aren’t going to make money when their high volume sellers aren’t allowed to be stocked fully.
True J Edgar, you DO have a brain and the ability to THINK with it. And the libs HATE YOU FOR IT. The Commiecare comrades have chaffed for decades to get enough power to tell you what you can eat, drink, or think. Their golden age has arrived.
Actually this could be a good thing...
I say make working conditions really bad for public workers.
Then as they quit never fill the job again.
Perhaps the only practical way to reduce the public work force while not violating some union contract...
It is that or bankruptcy proceedings...
It's all for show, and the only hope is that a majority of the publik wake up to their nonsense.
There might be a chance that some of the items will sell if they are stocked with the high volume sellers. But really, as the people become aware that the city machines have meathead drinks, then why even approach the machine in the first place. I think that in time, these machines will be filled with products that are going to spoil, no matter what their expiration dates.
Diet soda is worse than soda with sugar, although I don’t drink either one.
The Governor has put the majority of State workers on minimum wage, and some classifications are earning ZERO! For now, the State Controller is resisting, but in time he will lose the fight.
The machines cost money and the city doesn’t own them, they must cash flow or they get yanked.
Diet soda is disgusting. We buy it by the case.
Oops - correct. The city owns the property, not the machines.
I call for a Public Display of Civil Disobediance....Everyone drink Coca-Colas on the steps of City Hall....
Oh man, it would be so great if a couple of thousand people gathered at City Hall and drank Coke and sang “We Are the World.”
I do all I can to completely avoid San Francisco. Yuk!
As to some of the other comments on this thread, in SF there are only two inalienable rights: The right to an abortion and the right to have random sexual intercourse with strangers.
Somehow I really don't see denying folks the ability to pay $1 for a Coke they can buy at 7-11 for 75 cents is going to make the citizens of SF skinnier.
Email to me awhile back.... will be inserted wherever appropriate...
Now the libs don’t want us to drink certain drinks so they’re banned...doesn’t matter where.
THE FENCE: If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a conservative doesnt like guns, he doesnt buy one.
If a liberal doesnt like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesnt eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesnt like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they dont like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesnt go to church.
A liberal non-believer, any mention of God and religion is silenced. (Unless its a foreign religion, of course!)
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a conservative reads this, hell forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because hes offended.
Well, I forwarded it to you.
While I understand the principle, fair market, consumer choice, etc., I still fail to grasp what the BFD is that someone won't be able to shell out an excessive charge for his soda when he can tote a cheaper one in to work with him all the same. The soda is only banned from the vending machines, not city property, buildings, etal.
But they are big on "organic" food. Lab chemicals BAD!
If the City of SF offices have refrigerators, the employees can bring their own soft drinks from home.
That’s what I do because the prices at my work for soft drinks in the vending machines are too high, IMO. I save money by bringing my own soda from home.
Or will Gavin “any twosome” Newsome ban city employees from bringing soft drinks on public property? Its for their own good, you know. And that soy milk tastes delicious on a warm summer day. /s
You can say that again! ;-)
I bet you can still get a slurpee in the Mayors office...
