Are they talking about abortions done in the event of a fallopian tube pregnancy? That's the only one I could imagine a Catholic hospital doing, because there is absolutely no chance the baby will survive, anyway.

An abortion at any other time isn't necessary to save a mother's life. If a woman has difficulties after 20 weeks, the baby can be delivered, and put in neo-natal care. The only reason an abortion would be done, after that time, is simply to insure a dead baby.

Catholic Hospitals and Catholic doctrine does not require an ectopic pregnancy to continue. This situation is not relevant to the ACLU claim.

My niece had an ectopic pregnancy and ended up in a hospital and had it taken care of before her tubes ruptured, and put her life in danger. No fetus can survive if it is implanted in a fallopian tube; so this is a non-issue.
