WASHINGTON, July 8 (UPI) -- A survey seeking U.S. troops' views on the impact of ending a policy barring homosexuals from openly serving in the military is being sent, the Pentagon said.
The more than 100-question survey was being sent to 200,000 active-duty troops and 200,000 members of reserve forces, CNN reported Thursday.
Among other things, the survey asks about issues such as how morale or readiness may be affected if a commander is thought to be gay or lesbian, the need to maintain personal conduct standards and how a repeal may affect one's willingness to serve in the military.
The survey also asks questions designed to identify problems that may arise when troops live and work closely in overseas war zones and about reactions to dealing with same-sex partners in social situations.
Pentagon officials also discussed the repeal in private meetings with troops. Results aren't expected until the end of the year, officials said.
The Pentagon established a team to conduct the survey earlier this year to determine the impact of the repeal. President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Michael Mullen back a repeal of the current policy.
A senior military official with knowledge of the process told CNN the Defense Department said it needs until the end of 2010 to figure out how to implement a repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" because of housing, medical and marriage benefits, and the issue of reinstating gay soldiers discharged under the policy.
The House of Representatives in May approved a plan that would repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy after the military's internal review is finished, and Obama, Gates, and Mullen sign off on the policy change. The Senate did not pass the measure.
Don’t have ours yet..
Freepers should be writing every military member active and reserve that they know.
This generation has been woefully prepared to answer the tough questions about homosexuality. Many don’t know what makes same-sex marriage wrong or what makes homosexuality dangerous.
They been propagandized and taught by the media.
1. The CDC will not allow gays to give blood to civilians even if the incident was 33 years ago. This ruling was just reaffirmed 3 weeks ago.
2. Soldier blood comes from soldiers. Soldier first aid comes from soldiers.
3. Do you want your roommate looking you over as a target for sexual conquest? In your room; in the shower; etc.
4. If male female sex is natural, and it is, what else will someone do who practices the unnatural in one area?
Lamh Foistenach Abu!
I wouldn’t sweat this survey. I would worry more about the Ubama scumbags who will be reporting the results of the survey (ie., “counting” the votes). Soldiers, sailors, and Marines will dispense with this silly idiocy quickly - - answer the questions and be done with it. Even little children know naturally what kind of sexual behavior gives them the creeps, and all the propaganda in the world can’t change that.
I have a feeling we won’t be hearing much about this “survey”. The results will quietly be buried if they can’t be twisted by the liberal Ubama crowd.
On the Air Force portal there is a confidential conference link allowing for us to leave comments and ideas. I am doing so daily. In this so-called “conversation” on the issue the militant left has made sure of one thing...no honesty.
Homosexuals in this fight are being allowed to frame the debate. The FALSE claim of homosexuality being a trait you are born with is being peddled just as if the “science was settled” on the issue. Not only is it NOT settled but it is clearly against them.
I sent my leadership and the feedback channels the web site of Exodus international. I wanted them to at least acknowledge that millions have LEFT homosexuality. It begs the question against the bully tactics of shutting off debate on the issue.
Openly serving gays will make the single greatest strike against our military ever forced upon us. Imagine the accommodations required, imagine the hostility by many of them accusing heterosexuals of bias and the same by heterosexuals against them. It will be a bad deal for all and done so on emotional alone, not logic, facts or needs of the organization.
The leftist marxists of our nation are purposefully using this venue to gain what the militant left homosexuals want...FORCED legitimization by government. It will cause the constitutionally protected freedom of religion to be eliminated which is also a goal.
I mostly agree. I do think we should educate the conservative view especially to our younger troops. Most have been thoroughly propagandized by the media since youth on this subject.
You are dead on about the results. Conservatives should demand access to ALL raw data. Period.
In this era of huge unsustainable deficits I’m SURE this is a wise use of tax dollars, especially since it will be ignored unless it gives the pre-approved result anyway.
If I was still in I would do everything I could to avoid doing that survey as it could mean retaliation in the future for my answers. I thought the repeal of DADT was already a done deal.
They should fill it out anyway. There will be retaliation anyway.
You make a great point, though, and this should be another battlecry:
No member should be able to be identified by virtue of any answers given on this survey. Asking an age, sex, dob, location, a rank, and an MOS pretty well narrows it down as to who is filling out any given military survey.
Bet they won’t be writing articles about the RESULTS.
Well, that ensures most troops won't fill that survey out. Who has time for a 100+ question survey? Just ask "Do you support the don't ask - don't tell policy".
How much confidentiality will there be in completing this survey? Will there be unit or command pressure to fill out questions a certain way? Will surveys be collected from groups in an open setting? etc. etc.
Right...question #1 Why do you hate people who aren’t like you?
After DADT is rescinded, next year there will be the RDADT (Reverse Don’t Ask Don’t Tell)
You’re allowed to stay in the military even if you think homosexuality is a filthy habit so long as you: “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”
Slam the idea, and make sure you peers return the form, especially those who intend to make the service a career and are not on the college plan.
Interesting. Are the comments being censored? My experience has been that the Navy has gone PC but the Air Force is remaining conservative (i.e. reflecting traditional American values).
Ahhh...time for a little Sergeants Time persuasion. My fear is that the unit sodomite will help fill it out for them.
Another thing about this is that it is being mailed to the troops. Guess the military is helping bail out the post office. All other surveys have been online with links sent to individual soldiers.
You don’t see any comments. they are apparently using the system for people to send information, thoughts, or research to the people who have been commissioned by Gates to look at DADT. I comment there every day. They will not allow any personal information on the posts.
Some of what I have said includes looking at the fact of no scientific support to inate characteristic of homosexuality. I have asked for evidence of it and demanded them to acknowledge that they will forcibly change much of our military on this issue should they change the policy and for what? A lie? An emotional reaction? I wish nothing bad for ANY gay person whatsoever, but I will not stand for a paradigm shift of this magnitude over politics, emotion and LIES!
See Dont Ask, Dont Tell Surveys Hit Servicemembers Inboxes at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2548494/posts also.
I have not received mine yet.
I am in the Navy and find that ridiculous. If anything the Air Force is the service that is liberal. Well both of our posts are ridiculous as you cannot make blanket statements like that. If you still think that then please provide proof of this statement with some links.

Anyone who "signed off" on this perversion needs to get the BOOT as soon as 0thugga is out the door. After November, when hopefully Rs dominate the Congress, they can nullify anything 0thugga does.
I also hope that the service members' anonymity is assured, and how are they picking who to send these to?? I also do NOT like the "figuring out how to implement" this abomination. Why are they asking service members' opinions if they already plan on shoving it down their throats? I hope those answering the survey are totally anonymous and voice their opinions very strongly.
Can you see the remarks posted?
Nowhere can you see remarks. Now, this means they are taking it seriously to protect us as they KNOW that every homosexual militant would want our names, want to target us and wants to label us homophobes and such OR its just a placebo site meant to make us feel “involved” when really they go into the abyss of no action whatsoever.
Thanks xzins.
"Are you homophobic or accepting of those nice gay soldiers?"
Pound on your senators and representative incessantly. They’re begining to listen. We have to overwhelm them more than the homo-nazis if we are to make an impact.
You are right. There are a number of issues:
Family housing areas are on and around every single military base.
Homosexuals are something like 10 times more like to engage in molestation than the general population.
Wag/Jeremiah/Scripter have the data on the homosexual agenda (truthfile) list.

With, as a side benefit, a huge strike against the morale and unit cohesion which, together with equipment, doctrine, and recent combat experience, make the United States Army and Marine Corps the most terrifying field forces any potential adversary commander could ever imagine attempting to engage.
You nailed it, my friend!
Xzins - massmike has a lot of info and facts at his fingertips; I don’t so much any more. But you are correct - the incidence of violent “partner” or domestic abuse and assault is much higher, promiscuity is through the roof, drug and alcohol abuse is much, much higher. Rape and molestation are of course much higher.
HIV is but one of the many reasons NOT to allow them in the military. But then, destroying the military is part of the plan.
and HIV is only one of the many blood-borne illnesses rampant in the homosexual community, BUT it’s the only one tested for by the US military.
jeremiah, you know as well as I how little likelihood there is, given the kind of people we're dealing with -- people like Kevin Jennings and Elena Kagan -- that anything about these "surveys" will be on the level.
No way that this will be anything but a giant screw job if the Obamination has its way.
Remember what the homosexual activists have said, over and over again? "We will go back and affirmatively punish ....."?
Scum. They want to play identity politics? I've got an idea -- let's do this. Let's play, "DO ask, and DO tell." Then let them practice their crap in Antarctica with the penguins, clutching their General Discharges in their freezing hands.
But what should we make of this statement:
"A senior military official with knowledge of the process told CNN the Defense Department said it needs until the end of 2010 to figure out how to implement a repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" because of housing, medical and marriage benefits[???], and the issue of reinstating gay soldiers discharged under the policy."
So, are they going to repeal DOMA without actually repealing DOMA?
And domestic violence when it occurs is more violent. My grandfather was an assistant county prosecutor for many years in Indianapolis. He once told my father, you can always tell when a man's murder was a homosexual quarrel turned murder of passion, by the blood on the ceiling.
That happened, back in the early 1950's, aboard a Navy cruiser. I think it was the USS Worcester, a big 13,000-ton light cruiser completed and commissioned just after World War II. The story was told to me in 1970 by a chief warrant officer who went back that far; the story was current when he was junior enlisted.
Some homosexuals had caballed up in the detailers' offices at BuPers and started assigning sailors they knew were gay to the Worcester. After a while, the Worcester had a gay Mecca going on, and the homosexuals were having faux weddings in the bos'un's locker up forward. The ship's doctor was in on it, and he was controlling any incidents that got reported to him and miscounseling any horny sailors who came to him with "personal problems". Eventually someone twigged wise to the shambles and the ring was broken up by NIS and rocks and shoals assigned to the guilty parties -- quietly, as the Navy didn't need the scandal.
But the scandal did throw a shadow, as such things do, on the careers of a lot of innocent service members.
For years afterward, anyone who served in the Worcester back then, when asked "where were you in [year] _____?" would answer, vaguely, "Oh, riding some cruiser ......"
Dick Danzig. “Commander Massa”. Lohrenz v. Donnelly, and all the nonsense that surrounded that debacle in qualifying women pilots. Frankly, it comes as no surprise to me that when they finally found a 4 star to support homosexualizing the military, it was an admiral. Just my opinion though. Good luck managing the gals aboard subs.
By the way, my intent is not to criticize the Navy. Google Danzig, Navy and Culture and you’ll see that Dick Danzig explicitly set out to crack a culture in the Navy. He did it; I don’t think the a guy like Jeremiah Denton or Bull Halsey could ever make 4 stars now. If you’re in the Navy btw, you’re no doubt fully aquainted with the affirmative action program at Annapolis.
Whether 0thugga manages to shove this on the military or not, I do think the malignant leftist infestation will not last. I think the illness is chronic, now becoming acute, but will not be fatal.
I think the patient is going to fight back, rally, and recuperate.
Homosexual activists have have been working hard over the past decade to put a good face on their lifestyles (well, not so good, considering some of the images from their “pride” parades) in order to win over the public, or at least make them apathetic. This image they are creating is just a thin veneer, however - the stark facts are very disturbing, and the homophiles are vicious in shouting down anyone who voices these hard facts to discredit them. We can’t be silent, or the homo-activists will be sucessful in completely inflitrating every scientific institution to push their agenda, in spite of science.
I believe it’s your latter option. There isn’t anything “there”. I checked it out when they first started it. Couldn’t see anything. Then I started getting paranoid thinking now they have my IP address, know where I work, and know who I am and such....lol
When I served on a grand jury some years ago for about 3 months, the two most serious cases involved homosexuals.
My studies in Ayurveda and also some Taoist books state clearly that same sex acts create serious mental and emotional problems of violence, aggression and psychosis.
Note my coment just above.
The longer they live the “gay” life, the more insane and vicious they get.
Funny, I never heard that before .... guess Hollywood doesn't like everything they've heard about Taoism.
I actually don’t study Taoism, but my DH has some various kinds of books since he intermittently practices Tai Chi and Chi Kung which are I guess sort of Taoist.
Yes, the author was quite emphatic about it. And Ayurveda which is my particular field of study (or one of them) is also quite absolutist. In fact the teaching is that oral sex, anal sex and masturbation are all very unhealthy and create mental and emotional problems, what to speak of same sex activity!
I agree with the very top being liberal, but I do believe the Sailors tend to be conservative. It does surprise me that some of the changes happening in the Navy. I was stationed in Annapolis in late 90’s and they had AA program then. It is the only way to have a diversity at the Academy. The colleges are trying to get the African Americans and Hispanics so the Academy has to compete with that.
