Our country has become a country of Americans and other people who just live here. It pains me because I believe that this will change our nation from greatness to mediocrity.
I saw the flag wave as I stood at attention during the playing of our national anthem. It was simply sublime. I could see the tears well up in the eyes of my brother, a twenty-year Army veteran. I could feel the tears in my own eyes. The song pulled at the heartstrings of every member of our family. But not everyone in the crowd felt that way. Not everyone is moved by the ring of freedom.
There are six children in my family, and four of us have served our country. We have uncles who have served, and my grandfathers served. We have a long history of service. There are few citizens in this country who can't find a military member in their lineage. I say "citizens" because this is where I will clarify my statements.
People in our families have served and served with pride in their hearts. When the anthem plays, they remember loved ones and friends who died for this great country and feel proud to have known them. They remember that freedom is not free.
When I watch the news and I see that more of our soldiers have died on foreign ground, it chills me to the bone. It causes my heart to ache for the families and loved ones who have sacrificed it all for our freedom. It has been said that our country is great because "all gave some and some gave all." However, our country is not made up that way anymore.
What has happened to our country? We have become a country of entitlement. Liberals tell us we should allow the illegal immigrants to come here because they are just coming to feed their children, that if you were starving, you would come here, too. They say they are not hurting anyone.
I am here to tell you they are hurting someone. They are hurting us. When Ellis Island was receiving immigrants in record numbers, the people who came to this country came because they wanted to be Americans; they kissed the ground and prayed thanks to God for getting them to this great country and allowing them its vast opportunities. They had to endure great evils and hardships to get here, but they did so happily. They learned our language, and they wanted to assimilate into our culture. They loved America and became Americans.
Now, we are receiving record numbers of illegal immigrants. These people who do not respect our country enough to enter the country properly and legally. They do not care that we have laws, and they bring their own culture here. Many of them do not respect our flag; in fact, they burn it and spit on it in public, periodically. These people are not coming here to be a part of our great country. They want us to learn their language, they want our jobs, and they send money back to support their economy. They do not even plan to assimilate. They will take what they can from our country and leave when it is convenient. These people are weakening our country.
So I say to you: There is a difference between the people who live in America and the people who are Americans. If you are an American, then you should be truly outraged at what is being allowed to happen to our country! You should feel angry over how undeserving people are receiving the freedom and rights that you and your loved ones have fought for and died for. You should feel sad because so many people no longer remember that being an American is really about, and they are all right with settling for just living in America.
Ask yourself. Do I deserve to be here? Do I love this great nation which is unlike any other? Or do I simply reside here? Freedom is not free, and it is not an entitlement. Freedom is ours because of people who loved this country and loved the principles of this country so much that they gave everything they had.
This pretty much sums it up. We are seen not as a great beacon of liberty and opportunity, but as a cow to be milked to death.
DC lost its moral compass... and all these demanding, insolent and criminal free-loaders know it.
Thanks Bill.
Agree!!!
“Our country has become a country of Americans and other people who just live here. “
UNFORTUNATELY, too many of those “who just live here” were born in America, as were their parents. But they haven’t the slightest clue how UNIQUE and PRECIOUS this country is -
both in a temporal and a geographic sense, how it came to be, and how much so many people suffered and died to achieve what it is. And how everything it represents is RIGHT NOW - dangling by the thinest of threads.
The article is well written and great. I always felt part of the problem is dual citizenship. In my opinion, it is like being pregnant and not being pregnant. Choose one. You can’t be a German citizen AND an American one. In the past, my family gave up its Irish citizenship for an American one. They never received a handout, free housing, free food, free school, free (fill in the blank). Perhaps one becomes a real citizen when one adds their own sweat to the land. Just a thought
We need to deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border and SHOOT anyone who tries to re-enter illegally. We put a man on the moon; we can do this.
I pray every day that God would remove Obama and the evil that afflicts our land and give us Godly leaders.
And if that doesn’t happen by 2012 we will do it ourselves.

In Remembrance of America
By Rich Carroll | Published 06/30/2008
Eleven score and twelve years ago, 56 founders of this great nation signed a document freeing the United States from British tyranny and establishing national pride of independence and freedom that George Washington would reaffirm during his farewell address when he said: The name of American which belongs to you, must always exalt the just pride of patriotism and, Here every portion of our country finds the most commanding motives for carefully guarding and preserving the Union of the whole.
A nation was born from the wilderness that would in the coming years feed the world, give charitably and abundantly to countries in need, and save Europe from the tyranny of a madman.
Fifty two men who signed our Declaration of Independence were devout Christians, helping to establish God as the final authority of morality and spiritual guidance to any people of any race coming here to live free from tyranny within the laws of We the people.
The United States is always first to respond, and the first to produce products, food, medicines, and inventions to help mankind around the world. History will prove that America and her allies remained free not from appeasing our enemies to satisfy their grievances, not by dialogue or sensitivity training, but by young men carrying a rifle.
This week, as we celebrate our 232nd birthday, the citizens of this nation must take stock in how far we have fallen and examine how much longer we can sustain One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all when we face the greatest assault in our history.
We did not become the greatest nation on earth by liberal politicians telling the world on global television that our soldiers are torturers, or that most Germans and Japanese were peaceful. Our enemies would have received the distinct message that they could defeat us with this disloyal and surrender rhetoric. The Islamics must feel that if they keep doing what they are doing, they will have us.
We did not become the greatest nation on earth by evil tyrants endorsing our presidential candidates; we became great by these same evil tyrants being afraid of our presidential candidates.
We became a great nation led by men of steadfast character and single purpose resolve. We did not become a great nation being lead by secular humanists or liberation theology ‘’victims’’ undermining the traditional roots of America and destroying the only belief worth defending.
We became a great nation by killing our enemies. We did not become a great nation by cajoling and partnering with our enemies. We once enjoyed being admired as the envy of the world. Now we enjoy merely being simply a part of the world, for in our present condition of anemia, we have lost our soul.
Fire and swords will not defeat us. We have allowed the silent and unseen wedge of corruption, sloth, pornography, drugs, atheism, and humanism to kill our aspirations and integrity—our souls. In our national prosperity we have strayed from those ideals upon which this nation was founded and we obey the gods of entertainment and escape, and in this quest we have become unhappy, disoriented, and disenfranchised from these United States and worship at the alter of ‘’duty is to yourself.’’
By establishing standards of achievement open to all—to the weak and to the inept—we stopped the impetus to effort in all men great or small, and stopped all incentive to improvement, to excellence, to perfection. We have enshrined mediocrity. Add to this the cultural scientific rationality that humans are a glob of matter and you underwrite the view that we are ill-equipped to meet the challenges of a zealous, willfully determined Islamic enemy.
This secular and personal challenge is the battle plan for our coming trials of the twenty-first century and we will either regain our patriotism and steadfast UNITED resolve, or we will be swallowed by the followers of Allah. Islams goal is very clear.
We cannot win this battle hiding in front of a mindless television screen or blaming someone else.
We cannot win by listening to the liberal mantra of ‘’the world hates us,’’ but by standing these globalists up and asking them Who do you mean by the world?
Do you mean Europe who we bled and sacrificed to save and is easily surrendering to the sword of Allah? Do you mean the 57 member Organization of the Islamic Conference which is manipulating the United Nations so that they can install Sharia laws in place of our Constitution?
Do you mean the evil tyrant dictators who endorse your candidate but hate America for our achievements?, or when you say the world do you really mean your liberal party of atheists and communists who have other ideas for us under the banner of socialism?
We cannot win by listening to a cowardly, yellow media and press who would rather surrender this nation than tell the absolute truth and be labeled racist or Islamophobic by a butchering cult who does not believe in free press.
We begin anew on this Independence Day by asking ourselves Can we remain a free independent nation under a globalist with Muslim roots from another continent who says ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction’?
What does this statement tell you and how does it apply to todays America of encroaching and demanding Muslims who will eventually insist on your conversion or beheading?
Begin anew by asking yourself How much longer can we hide from the truth?
Ask yourself if you want this nation to ensure that our founding principles are maintained and preserved for future generations, or if you want liberal judges who make laws rather than interpret them.
Do we want to maintain the Christian values of America, or see our grandchildren go to Muslim schools wearing the required Arabic dress?
The decision about our future falls squarely on our individual shoulders. Together, we can have many more Independence celebrations, or we can eliminate this holiday when our new rulers find it ‘’offensive.’’

“We need to deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border and SHOOT anyone who tries to re-enter illegally. We put a man on the moon; we can do this.”
my, my, a real tough-talker, you are, sir.
Well, I’ll ask this question — not only to you personally, but to EVERY other freeper and lurker reading this posting:
Look at the pic in this link:
http://www.fpp.co.uk/History/General/WarsawGhetto/WarsawPic2.html
Does it make you uncomfortable at all, in any way?
If so, better forget about removing the illegals from America, ever.
Unless you’re willing for this to be done to MILLIONS, it ain’t gonna happen.
Are you?
free school?
One of the reasons that we have so many illegal Latin American immigrants is that our overall policy encourages people not to come here legally. Most Latin Americans are single males who come here because they want to work; the solution is short-term visas so that they can work and go home when the job is done, rather than hiding out in our cities.
The drug criminals are another thing altogether, but the problem is that we have let it become an established thing that people can slip in here and stay (because while they need the jobs, we actually do need the labor) so naturally criminals are going to take advantage of this.
I think illegal Latin American immigration could be dealt with simply by short-term visas - and ENFORCEMENT of the requirements and also by serious jail terms for criminals. Mexico does not want us to try their citizens who commit crimes such as murder in this country because we have the death penalty, and unfortunately, the US government gives in every time and either works out some way of returning these criminals to Mexico or promises not to give them the death penalty. So I think this encourages some of the really bad guys who come from there to feel that their government will protect them when they commit crimes here.
But my problem is really with the people we are admitting legally. The Somalis and hordes of Muslims who are invading and setting up their separate communities all across the northern Midwest (places like Minnesota, etc., not to mention Detroit) and then agitating for the acceptance of sharia and their ugly cultural practices are virtually all LEGAL immigrants.
I wish people here focused more on our legal immigration policy, because I personally think that is where the real danger lies. Obama has already expanded specifically Muslim legal immigration, which was bad enough under Bush, and seems to be bent on moving the entire Third World into our country. Probably just the way he did with his auntie who parked herself on welfare in Boston for 10 years after theoretically beimg ordered “expelled” for overstaying her visa and then simply being given legal residence a couple of months ago; he will achieve a great part of his objectives by legalizing visa overstayers en masse, and the rest will simply be through a vast expansion of people who want to come here for the free goodies but have no intention of becoming American in any sense of the word.
I am open to other ideas that get the same result.
The first question is whether we intend to be a nation of laws or just adjendas. If the latter, then no one will ever have to do the hard thing, just the momentarily expedient thing.
The second question is whether we ever intend to be a sovereign nation again, because today, de facto, we are not.
All else follows.
“I am open to other ideas that get the same result.”
Boy, you sure know how to dodge a directly question when it’s put to you.
“The first question.....
The second question....”
And you do, too!
Platitudes doesn’t work in the situation we’re in now. We literally have an “un-armed army” of 20-30 million or more on our soil.
How does one remove them _from_ that soil?
Again, I’ll ask:
Does this image make you uncomfortable?
http://www.fpp.co.uk/History/General/WarsawGhetto/WarsawPic2.html
Because, if it does, you’re not ready to do what it will take to get the illegals out and keep them out.
I have always felt that a lot of people who post the really violent posts are probably trolls, put here to make FR look like it’s populated by a bunch of bigoted, hate-filled loonies.
Also, I do think Obama would like to keep people obsessed with illegal Latin American immigration, which is a problem that actually could be fixed (by short term visas and enforcement) but creates a lot of hysteria among susceptible people, while he takes advantage of this to create huge pools of LEGAL PERMANENT immigrants from Third World places that have no contribution to make whatsoever. They come here under “family reunification” or some other pretext, install the family on various forms of welfare or even collect it from private agencies, and set up a hostile culture within our culture. But it’s all legal under our manipulated system, and it will be even worse after his “reforms.”
Immigration must serve the best interests of the US. Acquiring a large population of people who come from Third World African or Middle Eastern cultures, practice a religion that has proclaimed that it is at war with us, and have no interest in adopting any American beliefs or behaviors is NOT in our best interests.
They don't work hard in their home country like they do in America because the incentives aren't there. They have been demotivated on purpose by their country's extreme leftist politics and corruption. Motivation is very hard to inpire, and very easy to destroy, which is why the American corrupt leftists in power now are so dangerous to America's prosperity. Our leftists, driven by hate, envy, and resentment, want to turn America into another Cuba.
The current president spent some very formative years (age 6-11, I believe,) living in a predominantly moslem country. It is during that age period that male children living here BECOME Americans. They are then hardwired with the ethos of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, Jackie Robinson, heroes of the Wild West, sports heroes, Davy Crockett and Dan’l Boone. We of course didn’t recognize it at the time, but all of these experiences were written on our hard drives and we eventually emerged as AMERICANS. This did not happen to the president. He is not a REAL American.
BTT
Exactly. Half of their home countries don’t have functioning economies; you can always tell when a Latin American country has gone Marxist, because we get a flood of immigrants, legal and illegal, from there. Miami is full of Venezuelans, some of them very wealthy, but other parts of the US have Ecuadorians and Bolivians (both newly Marxist countries). Mexico is actually a dysfunctional socialist country and has been so for about a century, which is why it has no economy and no room for anybody except the very wealthy, like Carlos Slim and the government oil barons, but has tolerated a huge criminal drug industry for decades because this provided cash flows to places with no functioning economy. This is also the reason Mexico lets its productive workers go to the US: they send back cash that is taxed by the government and there is no way they could find work in Mexico that would yield that much tax revenue for the government.
Our leftists want nothing more than to turn us into another Cuba. They, of course, will be the ones living the Communist bureaucrat’s high life in the homes of the formerly prosperous, employed Americans while we labor on the North American equivalent of the government sugar plantation.
There's nothing wrong with shooting foreign invaders coming into your country. Communist nations will shoot their own citizens for trying to leave.
The non-sequitur of trying to link Warsaw to the armed drug dealers and job stealers marching across our border holds no water.
What does invading another country and interning a racial subset of that country’s indigenous population have to do with enforcing our own laws against people who have willfully breached our borders ?
Did we force them to invade our country or did they do it on their own volition ?
Are you comparing people who which to protect our sovereign borders against foreign invasion to Nazi Germany ?
Do you watch Olbermann ?
“The non-sequitur of trying to link Warsaw to the armed drug dealers and job stealers marching across our border holds no water.”
There is no non-sequitur.
The image speaks for itself, independently of the context in which it was taken.
I used it in reply to thethirddegree who asserted:
We need to deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border and SHOOT anyone who tries to re-enter illegally. We put a man on the moon; we can do this.
Actually, I agree with most of what he wrote.
But, as a conservative, I am also a cold-thinking realist. How in heck are you going to remove 30 million, many of whom will refuse to go, and a good portion who are involved in illegal activities above and beyond their mere presence here?
The awful, impossible answer to “the illegal question” is that you aren’t getting them out without the use of [some level of] force — “at the point of a gun” will probably be necessary for many. Otherwise, they ain’t goin’.
And what if Mexico (and the other countries from which they’ve come) flat-out REFUSES to re-admit them? Do we just dump them into the sea, or something?
It’s not only the illegals _here_ at whom the gun will need to be pointed — it’s also the Mexican government, which must be FORCED to repatriate them. Without force, they will never consent to that.
When “the gun” is used, it won’t be pointed only towards the men. It will, it must, be pointed at the women and children, as well.
The Warsaw Ghetto image is most appropriate to convey this emotional conondrum. We must confront within ourselves the bitter truths of what would have to be done to achieve the ends we speak about.
And that’s exactly why I presented the image in response to thethirddegree’s posting, with the comment, “does this image make you uncomfortable?”
Speaking personally, YES, it DOES make _me_ uncomfortable.
But I know that if I say I want 30 million “out”, I’m willing to understand exactly what such a goal would require.
Are you?
Charge, convict and incarcerate those who give aid (jobs) to illegal aliens. Simple.
The jobs go away fast. And then the illegals do to.
No muss no fuss.
That sounds like a lot but airlines in America currently transport 3 billion passengers per year. 30 million is 1%. If we set up airline check-in kiosks in hospital emergency rooms, welfare offices, and jails to fly the poor sick illegals back home we would barely notice an increase in airline passenger volume, and we would save enough billions in social welfare costs to fund a high-pay high-tax domestic robotics industry.
What I stated with “first question.... second question ...” were simple facts, not platitudes.
The U.S. government will never take action on this matter because politicians in both major parties benefit from the status quo. They would all rather fight over who’s in charge than fight for an America that’s worth fighting over.
As individuals, you and I have no power to stop the invasion - and our government refuses to do so. So, your link to the Warsaw ghetto becomes merely a Liberal-like exercise in hand-wringing.
But, to bluntly answer your question: Yes, I would man a post on the border and stop the invasion by armed means. My personal preference would be to erect two giant fence lines immediately inside our border and pick off the coyotes leading each group. Those already here would get 30 days to leave on their own steam. Then, we use laws ALREADY ON THE BOOKS to deport all illegals, by whatever means needed. I’m not sure I could make it any clearer. I am not dodging your question. I am answering it.
That said, that is only my opinion, and I am used to everyone inside the Beltway ignoring said opinion.
To you, perhaps, the image is fair because you think the U.S. would have to round up and deport tens of millions of persons in apply the law those who have come hereor who remain here in defiance of our lgal procedures; and this, from your point of view, would entail vast brutality and repression. Is that approximately what youre saying? Correct me if thats not what youre saying.
However, I would argue that your premises are wrong. First of all, enforcement is not based on the idea of forcibly deporting 10-30 million people, but on the more realistic expectation that serious enforcement would motivate many, many people to voluntarily repatriate themselves to their home countries. I say this is realistic, because the number of people here illegally does in fact fluctuate up and down by the millions, depending on the state of enforcement.. Check this out (Link)
Secondly, as a person who has in fact been in an arrest situation, I have a reasonable idea of how Id like to be treated if I were intercepted by law enforcement: Id want to law to be carried out even-handedly, without prejudice toward my race, religion, or sex. Id appreciate being handled humanely. Id be grateful to end up safely back in my native land.
Thats what Id want done to me, and I believe in doing unto others as Id have them do unto me.
For more realistic pictures of how U.S. law enforcement typically works, heres some pictures:

Sure, but we actually wanted to put a man on the moon.......
Jimmy Carter?
Think, Dwight Eisenhower, maybe you can come up with something.
I beg to disagree: we first changed from greatness to mediocrity, and mediocrity "just lives here." We have allowed G-d to be pushed to the backseat and our educational system to become an instrument of indoctrination that actually disabled people to think for themselves, permitted the destruction of basic institutions such as marriage, yielded to abortion that is prima facie contrary to the sanctity of life pronounced self-evident in the Declaration of Independence, etc. These processes took one half of a century to be completed, but they resulted in mediocrity.
Mediocre people don't even know what they are missing and what we expect them to defend. Hardly anybody even noticed that Obama could not bring himself even to mention our Founding Father by name --- on the Fourth of July! -- and when he did so indirectly, he presented them as men of "possession and wealth," a synonym of "bourgeoisie" in Marxism-Leninism. Mediocrity cannot notice what it does not know.
This mediocrity simply lives here.
Ping!
“But, to bluntly answer your question: Yes, I would man a post on the border and stop the invasion by armed means. Your answer is a good one.
I was advocating a “wall along the southern border” on the old AOL message boards back in 1995 (still have a copy of that post), YEARS before Pat Buchanan mentioned the idea — or anyone else, for that matter.
There is a post in this thread mentioning Eisenhower’s “Operation Wetback”. And someone else wrote:
“...enforcement is not based on the idea of forcibly deporting 10-30 million people, but on the more realistic expectation that serious enforcement would motivate many, many people to voluntarily repatriate themselves to their home countries.”
That’s all well and good. So, let’s say for the sake of argument, that some 10-15 of the 30 million “self deport”. That still leaves FIFTEEN MILLION who won’t leave. How are they going to be removed if they won’t go voluntarily?
I’ve stated my position in my previous postings well enough. It’s very easy to come in here and talk tough about “what should be done” (in this case my original post was a reply to someone who pretty much said “deport and/or imprison them all, and shoot anyone crossing the border illegally”). But there is a maxim that states, “words mean things”. And I called the original poster on his words, by pointing out a graphic image of government forces doing exactly the things he wanted done.
If you want results, you must be willing to use the means necessary to achieve the results. If it the results you desire necessitate draconian means, you either use those means, or forego the results. There’s nothing complicated in understanding this.
I harbor no dreamy-eyed vision that if we “make things harder” for many of the illegals here, that they will voluntarily “deport themselves” in toto. Yes, some will go home — I’ll reckon perhaps 25-30%, if that many. But many, many, many, MORE will decide to stay and tough it out, for “toughing it out” here is probably an order of magnitude easier than it was where they came from. And there is that pesky issue of the millions upon millions with their “anchor babies” who now see their future here, rather than “there”.
You also wrote:
“The U.S. government will never take action on this matter because politicians in both major parties benefit from the status quo. They would all rather fight over whos in charge than fight for an America thats worth fighting over.”
Again, I think you’re dead-on in your assessment. But let’s carry your observation to it’s logical conclusion: that being, “if the U.S. government will never take action on this matter”, well, then, the 30 million are here to stay, with many tens of millions more to come.
Who wins the struggle then?
Who wins the struggle? The party currently in power. That is always the plan, just like in 1986.
