Skip to comments.Mel Gibson's mainstream Hollywood career is over -- for real, this time

It's interesting to try to divine the chicken-and-egg of Mel Gibson's firing by WME last week: Was it his (first-alleged, now aurally proved) misogynistic and racist comments that enabled the agency to part ways with him, or was it the death of longtime agent Ed Limato that did the trick?
Earlier today the news surfaced that William Morris Endeavor had split with Gibson last week-- as Limato lay seriously ill, and just several days after Radar Online broke the news that Gibson had verbally abused his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva by using the N-word. (The reports were just that until today, when audio of the Gibson incident was released on Radar.)
There's of course a third variable in all this -- the fact that Gibson just wasn't much of a bankable star anymore anyway.

Like all of his other movies, one about “Vikings” would have been great to see.
You've just described Obama's entire cabinet and all of his unvetted "czars."
And Hollywood is full of anti catholics. Gibson offers a little balance.
But, racist is the worst thing you can call anyone these days. Most of the people tossing that word around judge people based on something (and a lot of them judge people based on race, the just keep it to themself). I get so sick of the self righteous who follow the trend of the day. Mel has some problems, and I suspect substance abuse is at the root. I pray for him and I wish him well. There is unlikely to be a person posting on this forum who hasn’t said something in private, that if recorded and played in public wouldn’t *ruin* them. But it’s fun to play gotcha.
Deagle, old chap; you’ve nailed it!
not likely - Polanski is a good example why
That would put him roughly on par with everyone else in that fake environment. Including his critics.
Gibson has made enough money that he can say anything he damn well pleases. Is his career over? He’s got the money in the bank to retire, why even entertain the thought that some Hollywood liberal big whig may hire him for a movie? Gibson can say and do all he wants, public be damned.
I would tell Hollywood to buzz off if I was him..He could do alot of good if he started making *Christian Movies*
Movies like *Fireproof* He needs out of Hollywood so he can straighten out his life.
Speak for yourself oh wise one!
They can’t do this to Jesus.
“Please... just who in Hollywood do you STILL admire? With their left wing attitudes, you probably cant name one!”
Based on your name, you must be a Skeet Ulrich fan. He’s starring in a “Law & Order” spinoff.
Exactly. BO and his wookie wife are racists, but they get a pass.
Mel has problems, but it’s interesting that he is being selectively crucified while others (like Roman Polanski) are glorified.
Mel is white and a Christian. Let’s destroy him
only agency honcho Ari Emanuel and some scattered others coming out and condemning Gibson when he drunkenly told a policewoman that Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world
This would be Rahm's brother, I believe. Gibson's got some enemies in high places.
“And Hollywood is full of anti catholics. Gibson offers a little balance.”
Somehow, I do not believe that yelling Anti-Semitic epithets at a peace officer is an effective way to balance any anti-Catholic bias that may exist in Hollywood.
I get so tired of hearing you are a *Homophobe*
You are a *Bigot* you are a *racist* those words are so over-used today they truly lost their intended meanings.
No, but after doing a little research and discovering it’s ghetto slang meaning I’m considering retiring skeeter and re-registering as ‘joe’ or something.
