Indy Posted Newspaper ^ | 7-11-2010 | Rudy Stettner

The National Rifle Association has puzzled many observers as well as angered its conservative members by remaining neutral in the contest for Nevada’s seat in the US Senate in November. In that race, Sharron Angle is challenging incumbent Harry Reid, running on the Republican ticket as a Tea Party conservative. Her own campaign site notes as follows her position on the right to bear arms.

Thats because the NRA supports Washington insiders. If the 2nd amendment isn’t under threat they can’t get the money comin in to fight it. Must have a crisis.

This was reported on Fox last week that they may endorse
Reid. The “house” is fixing the odds for Reid in Nevada!

This is rumor and speculation, not news.

I dropped my membership to the NRA...it’s not my fathers organization any longer.

Not only the endorsement thing, heck there like a retail merchandising outlet these days.

Hordes of letters and solicitations.

Hey NRA, go back to your roots and stop all the nonsense.

So, the NRA has gone the route of the AARP ehhh?

They just think that the paramilitary “civilian” security force will support them in the coming future. Sort of like the Democrats thinking that raising taxes and spending way more than they take in is the way to fix this broken economy. If you can't fight them, join them, then they will like you and want to keep you around.

Insanity runs deep these days.

If the NRA endorses Reid they will find themselves very very lonely.

What the Hell?

The ugly truth about the NRA is that it exists primarily to perpetuate the NRA. Gun right are really only a means to an end.

This kind of crap is exactly why the NRA will never get another dime from me. In 2008, they bought a bunch of wall-to-wall radio ads to support John Murtha in our neighboring district against a challenger who was far less tepid on 2nd amendment issues.

It was at that point that another Freeper introduced me to Gun Owners of America, who has a far more accurate rating system.

I do NOT believe it.

I WILL find out, and if I find out the NRA is opposing my personal political Conservative perspectives, I will tell the NRA to KMA after over twenty years of membership.

Anybody have a link that states positively such a direction exists at the NRA? I’d like to have that too.

GOA or Gun Owners of America are a better group. Support for Reid = support for O.

I just went to the site and posted an email to them.

http://home.nra.org/classic.aspx

This would cause them to lose membership big-time in my view.

Reid got a $60 million gun range built for NV which the NRA supposedly had some involvement with.

I support gun ranges but let private businesses build them not taxpayers. The NRA keeps screwing the pooch lately.

NRA has not made any endorsements for Senate yet.

http://www.nrapvf.org/News/Read.aspx?ID=14003&T=1

BUT... from the article.

All of which leads to a very serious question for all NRA members and gun owners who oppose Sen. Reid to contemplate: who would take Reid’s place if he loses his race—and his critically important position as Senate Majority Leader? Remember, the Senate Majority Leader is the gatekeeper who decides which legislation will be considered on the Senate floor. If Sen. Reid loses, the next candidate for Majority Leader is very likely to be Chuck Schumer or Dick Durbin—two of the most anti-gun U.S. Senators in history!

It is critical to the defense of the Second Amendment that we have pro-gun majorities in the U.S. Congress. While no endorsement has yet been issued in this race, nor any other U.S. Senate race for the November general election, rest assured that we will make all of these announcements at the appropriate time and in light of our election policy.

They still might do it.
