First Lady Michelle Obama brought renewed energy to the NAACP today, delivering the keynote speech at the annual convention one day before the nation's largest civil rights group is expected to condemn what it calls racist elements in the Tea Party movement.
The nation's largest and oldest civil rights organization will vote on the resolution Tuesday during its annual convention in Kansas City, Mo. In addition to jobs and the economy, anti-Tea Party activism has been a large focus of the gathering, which conservative leaders say is driven solely by a political agenda.
The resolution is part of the movement to realign people against the Tea Party, which has emerged as a strong grassroots, albeit fragmented, force across the country.
"We have to close the enthusiasm gap," NAACP president Ben Jealous said in an interview with the Associated Press Friday. "The danger of the Tea Party is that people see them and think about periods in history when groups like them were much more powerful than they are now, and so a lot of what we spend energy doing is explaining to people what reality is, and that the reality is that the majority from 2008 still exists."
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, in coordination with 170 other groups, including labor unions, is planning a protest march in Washington, D.C., Oct. 10 as the next step in building momentum against the Tea Party.

First lady Michelle Obama, right, is introduced by NAACP Chair Roslyn Brock, before delivering remarks at the 101st annual NAACP convention, Monday, July 12, 2010, in Kansas City, Mo.
I don't live in the same country they do anymore.
These people are meatheads. They are also superb whiners.
The largest and oldest civil right organization in the US is the National Rifle Association.
I’ve never met a racists TEA party member.
But the NAACP is, by name, a racist hate organization.
“In March, Tea Party protesters opposing the health care bill shouted racial slurs at black House members in the halls of Congress. Liberal blogs have also seized on signs that have appeared in Tea Party protests, comparing President Obama to a monkey.”
Keep repeating a lie long enough and maybe people will believe you? Any FReeper knows this is a lie and I hope Breitbart gets Huma Khan and ABC to retract.
Michelle: “Let’s face it, ‘Whitey’ is racist.”
It’s racist to be an effective political opponent.”
IMO, the NAACP has yet to see the racist side of most AMERICANS.
Michelle Obama is an idiot.
Its a coordinated attack and an attempt to distract and intimidate anyone from going after the white house over the black pampers.
This coming from a woman who attended a racist, anti-Semitic church for years with her husband.
Michelle: Lets face it, Whitey is racist.”
We just cannot make up these kinds of statements!!
From a person who allegedly has a real college ‘education’.
What’s the use of being leftist if you can’t lie and make up stuff.
Do any white people attend NAACP meetings? Are they featured in photo-ops? Why does that make the Tea Party racist if Blacks aren’t featured in photos and not the NAACP? Come on Michelle, inquiring minds want to know.
Coming from an author names Huma Khan, should we expect anything different?
Needed a gag and barf alert.
Imagine a White first lady delivering a keynote speech to an organization called, National Association for the Advancement of White People.
These people are RACIST PIGS and need to be BOOTED OUT of the halls of power IMMEDIATELY!
Oh, good grief. How many different sized polka dots can one dress have?
As for the racist nonsense. Calling everyone with whom you disagree a racist has lost its cache.
Hey Michelle... STFU!!
Michelle Fashion Police Alert Ping!
FReepmail GOP_Lady if you want on or off this ping list
Lets hope this thing some call First lady is the last we see of this first very soon.
She does not represent this country and all of the people. She is an embarrassment and a fraud.
NAACP president Ben Jealous”
You can’t make this stuff up.
> Michelle: Lets face it, Whitey is racist.
Did she really say that?
If so, it should be repeated over and over and over to every Leftist until his tiny little brain implodes.
The hypocrisy in that statement is so glaring, that Michelle Obama must be a total MORON to have missed the irony.
SHe may look like a Wookie, but she’s definitely nowhere near as smart.
Can’t wait for their protest march against the Tea Party, I’m sure it will be as huge and enthusiastic as the pathetic 2003 “Millions for Reparations” rally on the National Mall.
What an idiot. We are also harking back to a time when Black people were heros and KNEW their OWN history! Unlike today, when organizations like NAACP align with organizations like ACORN and the Weather Underground! Both racist organizations. Black folk once knew their own history, now all the seem to know is what a few racists have taught them over the last couple of generations.
Irony of all Irony’s is this: The New Black Panthers, ACORN, NAACP, et al. all espouse killing white babies and “crackers”. Who is the undisputed ruler of the Democrat party? It’s exclusively WHITE.
Is that not ironic as all get out?
This fall the Democrats will be saying “Where da white voters?”
I hope the people coordinating the TEA Party issue a statement condemning the racist elements of the NAACP.
More power for the new black klan, nice.
the pig gets exposed
Has the NAALCP (National Association of Liberal Colored People) changed since that rabido racist, Julian Bond, headed it?
It's amazing the anxiety that say Sarah Palin or the Tea Party movement causes amongst these dimwits. This isn't 2008 and all their foot stomping and histrionics won't make it so.
> the pathetic 2003 Millions for Reparations rally on the
> National Mall.
Hey, I’m all FOR reparations.
Any American of African descent with a “reparations” chip on his shoulder should be offered $100,000 and a one-way ticket to the African paridise of his choosing, surrendering his US Passport along with his boarding pass at the gate.
Smart Americans of African descent will decry the fact that their ancestors were slaves, but will thank GOD that they were BORN FREE in the USA.
I am proud to support the Tea Party, and can firmly attest that it is NOT about race. In fact, the people who prominently make it about race, ALL THE TIME, are liberals.
Will the Tea Party leaders take a stand then, and condemn and vote on a resolution to repudiate the NAACP as a racist organization, which it is? Who has the courage to speak out the truth?
Probably not, can you imagine the calls of racism! if someone were to do that? But after hearing about the poor way that the NAACP treated Kenneth Gladney after he was attacked by BOTH WHITE AND BLACK UNION MEMBERS tells me that they are NOT about protecting minorities....only minorities who agree with liberal policy. They are the most racist of organizations, and no one has the courage to speak out against them.
>> I hope to heaven that there is at least one honest reporter in the WH press room that has the courage to GRILL Gibbs
NEVER happen. I hope I’m wrong though. It SHOULD happen!
Can you see the press corps after Laura Bush gives the keynote at an Aryan Nation meeting? And make no mistake, NAACP is EVERY bit as racist as any white supremecist group!
“The danger of the Tea Party is that people see them and think about periods in history when groups like them were much more powerful than they are now, and so a lot of what we spend energy doing is explaining to people what reality is,...”
If you have to explain reality, you are not in touch
Let's not forget the Black Caucus. Could you imagine the furor over a "White Caucus" or a "Patriots' Caucus?"
It seems clear that the Obama Administration is using racism accusations against its critics. Doesn’t matter, we will go right on criticizing.
I read somewhere that Muhammad Ali once told an interviewer something to the effect of “I’m GLAD my great-grandfather got on that boat.”
>> This fall the Democrats will be saying Where da white voters?
Yeah, they kind of suck at math.
“We’ll pull out all the stops to get 100% of the support of a group that makes up 18% of American voters! That’s... uh... 180%! Or is it 118%? Well either way WE WIN BIG!!!”
Imagine the shock on the morning after the election...
I believe that most Americans are not racist and a lot of them are getting fed up with being having the 'racist' accusation thrown at them every time they express concern about our gigantic national debt or any other Obama administration failure. I suspect that resentment toward being unfairly and inaccurately labeled 'racist' by Obama supporters and their media water carriers is a factor in the Tea Party movement.
The NAACP is being blinded by the color of Obama's skin and helping him, his wife and the Democrat party attempt to undermine support for the Tea Party. Constantly repeating lies about 'racist signs' at Tea Party rallies and 'racist epithets' being shouted at members of congress (without a scintilla of audio or visual proof, even when the occasion was recorded by many) is going to backfire.
Sadly, this kind of unjustified attack on ordinary Americans (Tea Party members) by a Black organization is only going to set U.S. race relations back even farther while adding to the political/cultural divide. I seriously doubt that another Black president will be elected in America in this century, after the mess Obama has made, his administration's bullying tactics and the left's lies and false 'racist' accusations against ordinary Americans protesting what they consider the folly of an inept administration.
Obama is disgracing the presidency and ruining our economy (by design), among other things, and his wife is his willing partner. As for the NAACP - they should reject any contributions from White people from this day on. Fat chance.
