idiot Shep has no idea what he is saying!!! He has said the oil is stopped and it is not stopped yet!

Give him a pass. He gets orgasmic when he talks about holes.

He plugged the HO at least twice, not to mention Mr. Sinclair.

revised:

Obama will now claim how all his hard work on the golf course and threats to BP worked out for the salvation of mankind.

Hmmm, when I read the title of this thread, I thought the well had been capped, as in stopped. But that is not the case. The cap has been installed but the oil is still flowing through it. It will be another couple of days before we know whether this new cap can stop the flow.

The new CAP is in place but it is still leaking as a out of control gusher. On top of the cap is a long tube or pipe and there are large holes in various locations going along the pipe. Oil and methane still leaking from those holes. Just verified that about 10 minutes ago via ROV2 Ocean Intervention III. Not capped yet. New cap in place with venting holes in the top support or collection pipe. Gonna do various tests before they try closing this wild well down. And even when closed down, no guarantee that the increased pressures wont blow something in the damaged BOP or cause problems further down in the Wild Well bore. This new cap is not a permanent solution. And if they blow out the lower wellhead or the BOP, will be completely out of control again.

I’m not good enough to do this, but, somebody has to take a screen shot from that video and paste in Zero in a wet suit.

This is where we are right now. Watch this animation. We are currently at the 5:54 mark. See those vent holes in the support pipe. Right now the oil and methane all fully gushing out through those.

First he lowered the oceans.

Now he stopped the lead by the power of his command.

Is this guy great or what?

The well casing is still cracked and there is no way to repair it. They will test the pressure by progressively closing off the cap until they detect seepage from the surrounding Gulf floor. Then they’ll know what they are looking at with respect to the relief well and if there is any potential to top kill and seal it off permanently. That’s all the so called relief well is, a way to get more mud into the bore

And what a hole that is!

I bet the Secret Service won't let him go near it without a safety harness! ;)

Good points. Also the BOP is damaged. We have reports about hydraulic leaks prior to the well going out of control. Reports of the rams firing but not working. And verification that there are two drill pipes that jammed down into the BOP from the platform or riser above as the platform was exploding, catching on fire and sinking. IMHO - They are gambling by increasing the pressure on the BOP, wellhead and well bore. Would be much better to go for near complete collection and not test the pressure until they see if the relief well concept will work. We already have complaints from Dutch Shell that BOP’s plan to flush the relief well intersect section before cementing is risky.

Good old MSM’s reporting no flow, getting it wrong as usual. There’s flow through the intentionally punctured riser a little higher on the stack. That’ll be shut down later. Maybe they’re going for three stories for the price of one. First, the success story, then the “serious problems” story when somebody finally looks up the stack a little, then finally the “overcomes initial problems” story when the sequence that was planned in the first place is finally completed.

The moment where the cap dropped into place and there was noting, nada, nicht, coming out from under it was special. The special special moment will be if they shut all the valves and the pressure holds, or if they can’t but the only flow is to the vessels above. One or the other should happen within the next couple of days.

What they just did or are doing is using the automatic sealing mechanism to firmly attach the new CAP. Once that is done they hook up some hydraulics or something so that the drill support pipe with the holes is removed. Then the leaking wont be out the holes in the pipe, it will be from the top of the new CAP. So we will be back to where we were in the middle of last week. Full gusher out the top of the CAP, only this time with no collection of the top gusher. Then they are apparently gonna slowly try to close the gusher through the new CAP by slowly closing valves.

Obviously the Obama administration and its Fascists partner BP are gambling and trying to get the politically expedient solution and not the scientifically sound solution. That was why the MSM got the story wrong today. They took the Obama/BP propaganda. Hook, Line and Sinker. Obama and his partner BP need to claim some type of success. My guess is that the Obama administration is pushing these flat out false stories.

Sorry, folks, this is a misleading headline.

Capping a well usually means there is NO flow.

This is just another box (”cap”) put over the top with a hole in it.

Oil still coming out that has to be collected or cleaned up.

The device they just put on can, in fact, have all of it’s connections sealed. They plan to do that tomorrow, and then monitor the pressure.

If the pressure increases to what they expect, they will have in fact stopped the leak and they will be “done”, alhtough they will still use mud to shut down the well.

If the pressure does not increase as much as they expect, that will indicate that there are leaks in the well. In that case, rather than taking the chance of the well being further compromised, they will open up the connections again, and then connect collection risers to process the oil until they cna do the relief well bottom kill.
