EDITORIAL: Obama threatened by Tea Party--White House frets about coming Republican majority
The Washington Times ^ | July 12, 2010 | Editorial

Posted on 07/12/2010 6:28:43 PM PDT by jazusamo

Reality won a rare victory against the White House on Sunday when President Obama's press secretary, Robert Gibbs, admitted

that the November 2010 congressional elections will be a tough time for Democrats. "There's no doubt there are enough seats in play that could cause Republicans to gain control," he said. "There's no doubt about that."

The sea change in the public mood has come about because the ruling party's policies are deeply unpopular. Democrats and willing media outlets are promoting the idea that an "anti-incumbent" mood has seized the public, but this is not true. Incumbents aren't the problem; Americans are objecting to the hard-left policies, programs and legislation pushed by the Obama administration and the Democratic Congress. Analysts peddled the same generic "anti-incumbent" line to explain Democratic defeats in the 1994 midterm election until they noticed that not a single Republican in Congress had lost a seat. A "throw the bums out" election may target a very specific group of bums.

The Tea Party movement has crystallized public discontent. It arose as a genuine grass-roots citizens protest, of the type that Obama supporters extolled ad nauseam in 2008 until their grass roots withered. Democratic operatives denounced Tea Party adherents as bitter, racist, white-trash losers, the kind of people who, as then-candidate Barack Obama said in 2008, "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." This exercise in racial profiling was short-circuited by an April 2010 New York Times poll that showed Tea Partiers tend to be better educated and more affluent than the population as a whole. Liberals had to come to grips with the fact that those who opposed their "enlightened rule" were not just dimwitted red-state rubes.

If it`s the tea party that guides and headlines the rat defeats by pushing REAL conservatives to the forefront with the republicrat party, then we have a chance. If not, then America is doomed and I say that with no small amount of sadness and terror at what the future holds for US, if not humanity, providing the true conservative roots of America can not be reestablished and the Progressive attacks, by BOTH parties, stopped in their tracks.

Obama and/or his advisers had to know that what he was proposing to do during his first years would cause an American voter backlash. I think this is all part of his overall scheme to make the US the next banana republic and the upcoming elections will be no surprise to him. IHMO

Obama fears the Tea Party for good reason.

The NAACP brands the Tea Party as racist. That race card worked 50 years ago, but no more.

The NAACP has lost what little credibility it had.

Obama drops lower in the polls.

America knows the truth.

Rush had an interesting take today. I didn't get to hear it all, but the gist of it was, the 'rats are not too concerned about letting the GOP have the House starting in Jan 2011, just when all the accumulated 'rat shit hits the fan.

Obamacare, expiration of "Bush tax cuts," obama tax increases, inflation, continuing unemployment, fascist regulatory bureaucrats heave into action.

IOW, we get the House just when everything goes to shit, courtesy of the 60-odd million idiot scumbags who voted for obama.

I missed Rush’s show today. Nice to know that all my years studying at the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies were not wasted. LOL!

2012: Soros throws Obama under the bus, and finds a shiny new crook to do his bidding, Dems blame Republicans again for the economic downturn, media spins more and faster, and voter fraud reaches record levels. Black racists riot?? Martial law ushers in new, totalitarian pretend-president/puppet/dictator???

OR: Republicans/conservatives work like the dickens from now until 2012 and well beyond to reform the government, institute crucial financial reforms (including some that really hurt, but which will put us back in control of our own destiny), undo the mess and maybe save the Republic??

I didn't catch that, anyone have a link to it?

"Liberals had to come to grips with the fact that those who opposed their "enlightened rule" were not just dimwitted red-state rubes."

Not all of them have come to grips with reality. The NAACP is right now voting on a resolution that will declare the Tea Party movement to be controlled by white supremacists and racists.

And MObama is the guest of honor.

Oh, stop with the martial law paranoia already.

Obama would need a loyal army equal to 90 million gun-owning Americans to pull that off. Every single federal bureaucracy and agency would also have to be on board with it. The two other co-equal branches of our government would have to be onboard with it. Every state and municipal law enforcement agency would have to be on board with it.

To top it all off, the American people would have to all willingly lay down their arms and surrender to a force that would be many, many orders of magnitude smaller than they collectively are.

There was a thread here the other night with a well crafted article addressing this very subject. The logic and reasoning were airtight. There will be no declaration of martial law, nor will the November elections be postponed by Obama.

Bottom line....he does not have the power to pull it off.

To balance the budget, 0bama will offer up large reductions in the DoD budget. He will offer the third-rail-of-American-politics to the new Republican Congressional leadership. The Republicans will balk at balancing the budget at the expense of the DoD and lambasted for being hypocritical in the context of fiscal responsibility. The change in Social Security will ignite the seniors who will punish anyone who votes for the Social Security reform, whether it passes or not — just like 0bamacare. The current crop of Republican Senators — only 20 will co-sponsor the 0bamacare-undo (S3152). No one will suggest an across-the-board same percent.age for everyone and everything reduction in the various agency budgets. No one will suggest selling off federal assets like land in the Western states, unpopular National Parks, and sale lease-back of federal offices. 0bama will never sign on to a zero corporate income tax rate. Doom? If it were only that good.

I beg to differ -They really believed that the time was ripe to proffer their version of America, having had 40 years to dumb down the electorate and create generations of dependents on the federal government (not to be confused with Uncle Sam, which they despise). These are the true believers in their own version of Marx, Alinsky, etal. With the “right” people in charge, socialism or Communism-lite can work. It has worked in their senior thesis from Harvard for years. It has worked in their spreadsheets in economics. It works, they believe in their hearts, as sure as there is day. But they have never factored in, let alone began to think of, the American Spirit, which has been placed in hearts of man by his Creator, which causes men to yearn to be FREE. Free of these Harvard types micromanaging their lives. Free to make life choices like wiping with more than two squares of paper (Sears Roebuck catalogues offered more than that, not so long ago)!! Free of the elites opinions of them or their theory about the bitterness and clinging to their guns and Bibles.
