Rev. Al Sharpton: Rush Limbaugh's Comments On Steinbrenner Were "Repugnant"
NY Daily News ^ | 7/13/10 | Celeste Katz

Posted on 07/13/2010 8:01:40 PM PDT by pissant

The Rev. Al Sharpton did not particularly care for the (your adjective here) comments about late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner by Rush Limbaugh, which I blogged here earlier in the day:

"The statements made by Rush Limbaugh about George Steinbrenner were repugnant and offensive whether they were intended to be facetious or tongue and cheek. The fact that he could make these comments less than 24-hours after Mr. Steinbrenner's death makes it even more offensive. For the last 20-years I have known George Steinbrenner and we have quarrelled over diversity and community programs but I always found him fair, direct, and genuinely prone to do what he felt was right. He generated a lot of money for a lot of players as well as for baseball as a whole and should not be disparaged in any matter. In later years, in a twist of irony, his granddaughter and my daughter became close, which only brought me closer to knowing him and we developed a mutual respect. Mr. Limbaugh and his broadcasters owe his family an apology that the first day of their mourning to have to be subjected to this type of rhetoric. To think that just a year ago Mr. Limbaugh sought to be an owner of an NFL team and has now said this about a legendary baseball team owner. This says more about Mr. Limbaugh than it does Mr. Steinbrenner."

goes to show you just how much the left HAS NO SENSE OF HUMOR and continually misunderstands Rush’s sarcasm. The bottom line is that Al Sharpton is classic racist fool.

RUSH: George Steinbrenner. Now, this is an example, my friends, of the kind of news that I'm going to impart here that will just infuriate liberals, it will ruin their day. George Steinbrenner, that cracker was a great capitalist, and he made many African-Americans who worked for him millionaires, as a lot of capitalists do. But he also, as a good capitalist, knew when to die. There is no death tax. George Steinbrenner's family this year will not have to cough up 55% of what they inherit and perhaps lose the New York Yankees. How sad it is we've come to this point in America? How much you want to bet, the liberals try to get around this, pass a special law or something to get the Yankee tax money.

Gee Al, looks like you walked right into it. Gosh you're stupid.

My Dad wrote a book about Steinbrenner (Steinbrenner’s Yankees..an inside account) and it was none too flattering. Steinbrenner sued him. When it went to court I bought my Father a T-shirt that said, “My lawyer can beat up your lawyer..” which was as serious as this lawsuit, which was dismissed. But Steinbrenner performed some shenanigans so the book was hard to find. A big pain in the ass.

RUSH: This is a story from Business Insider: "If you're massively wealthy, then 2010 is not a bad year to pass away. That's because Congress allowed the inheritance tax to lapse for one year. Not that the Steinbrenner family is seeing any 'upside' in the passing of the legendary Yankees owner. But the lack of the tax, which could go as high as 55%, could make the passing of the Yankees franchise that much easier." In fact, it will be totally easy. You remember the family of Joe Robbie, who owned the Miami Dolphins? When he passed away they had to sell the team to pay the estate taxes. It had not been the wisest estate planning going on there. But Steinbrenner knew when to die. No estate tax -- (interruption) what are you laughing at, Brian? You know damn well this kind of thing is going to irritate the left like nothing else will, especially since I point it out.

“That cracker made alot of African-Americans millionaires...”

Thats it, thats the statement that we’re going to hear for the next week, and it’s going to be played over, and over again along with all the blubbering about what a racist, and vile thing it was to say.

Remind yourself of all the things we’ve heard about Governor Palin, and all the things that black panther party creature has said, and marvel at the selective outrage over these few words from Rush.

So REVEREND...where is all of your indignation when it comes to the new black panther party threatening to kill white babies? Huh?

You know, we've minded our own business and let things go, but I'm beginning to think the likes of you, Jesse, Shabazzo, et al just want to be perpetually pissed about SOMETHING...anything.

ANYTHING that will get your mugs on television and let you scatter your testesterone around is really all you're after.

I mean, it COULDN'T more rights...you got more right now than anyone on the planet.

Consider the cost of a ticket to a baseball game in 1980 vs. today, of a beer in 1980 vs. today, of a player 1980 vs. today.

Two people bear primary responsibility. One was Marvin Miller, the perp and first head of the MLBPA, the second died today. Over the years, they assured us that crazy spending would not affect the fan - advertising revenue would cover all the new, astronomic costs and salaries...right!

I have a lot of old ticket stubs - Baltimore Memorial Stadium Sept. 1990 Upper Box - $8.50. Wrigley 1993 Field Box $17. Metrodome in Minnehaha, 1997, VIP box - $19.

$20 million for a pitcher doesn’t affect the fan...right!

Say hi to the Swimmer, George.
