CBS Poll: Support for Arizona Immigration Law Hits 57 Percent
CNS NEWS ^ | 07/14/2010

CBS News Poll analysis by the CBS News Polling Unit: Sarah Dutton, Jennifer De Pinto, Fred Backus and Anthony Salvanto.

Public support for Arizona's controversial new immigration law has increased slightly, a new CBS News poll shows, with 57 percent of Americans characterizing the law as "about right" in the way it addresses the issue of illegal immigration.

Support for the measure increased five points since May. Since then, the Justice Department has filed suit against the law, claiming that it usurps federal authority to enforce immigration laws.

The measure in question, signed into law in April and slated to go into effect later this month, makes it a state crime for a person to be in the country illegally. It also requires local law enforcement to question a person about his or her immigration status during all "lawful stops" if there is "reasonable suspicion" that person may be in the country illegally.

Twenty-three percent of Americans think the law goes too far, according to the poll, conducted July 9 - 12. That's down five points from the 28 percent who said in May that the measure goes too far. Another 17 percent said it doesn't go far enough.

A BETTER TITLE WOULD BE : 74% EITHER SUPPORT ARIZONA LAW OR THINK IT DOES NOT GO FAR ENOUGH

Those who simply scan the headlines without looking at the graph and details of the poll would think that support for strong enforcement against illegal immigration has dropped below the well known --- 70%. This is CBS trying it's darn best to hide their own results hoping people won't read past the headline.

We should also encourage people to do what the Amazing Racist has done - drive them to the nearest local immigration office as seen in this video.

But I’d call the INS/ICE on the way to the immigration office so they are ready to capture them on the front lawn of the property.

Or, “plus or minus three percentage points” for error, so the figure is at least 60%.
And since it’s SeeBS, sampling error is probably more like 13 or 23%.

I bought a bird feeder. I hung It on my back porch and filled It with seed. What a beauty of A bird feeder it was, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a Week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table .. everywhere!

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to Peck me even though I had fed them out of my own Pocket.

And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn’t even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned Up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like It used to be .... Quiet, serene.... And no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now let’s see. Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care and free education, and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen.

Then the illegal’s came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you Have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; your child’s second grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn’t speak English.

Corn Flakes now come in a Bilingual box; I have to ‘press one ‘ to hear my bank talk to me in English, and People waving flags other than ‘Old Glory’ are
squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe it’s time for the government to take down the bird feeder.

The total support for the AZ law is 74%.

57% think it is about right

17% think it should go further (this is approval in my book)

The total is then 74% who favor the law including a few who want it tougher.

Gotta get rid of welfare for illegals, legal citizens, corporations, and any others on the government dole. Let people take care of people.

I’m noticing that the fewer viewers the ABC CBS & NBC Evening News Shows have (down a million this past years) the polls All trend away from the Democrats. Yes, the Country is waking up!

It’s past time for AZ to join TX and TN and others in secessionist activities. This “Union” is a bust deal.

The NV voter would be shocked by this statement from Reid. However, how will the NV voter find out? The only way to get it to them is thru radio and TV media buys.
