I'm too old to be concerned about what happens to the country. (Is it about time to give up?)

Obama: Getting things done, and losing
Troy Reimink | The Grand Rapids Press
Seems like everywhere you look it's bad news for President Obama. New polling on 2012 shows him tied with Sarah Palin and behind every hypothetical Republican nominee besides Jan Brewer. His own press secretary freely admits Democrats could lose the House of Representatives in November.
But is the conventional wisdom here selling Obama short? Even one of his harshest critics in the media, columnist Charles Krauthammer, warns eager conservatives (and, by extension, worried liberals) not to underestimate Obama in 2012.
So far, Krauthammer writes, Obama's presidency already is as consequential as that of Ronald Reagan:

Consequential - but not in a good way.

So far, Krauthammer writes, Obama's presidency already is as consequential as that of Ronald Reagan: I don't think he is there yet, and I don't even think that he will reach that level, but if one sees the United States as much more substantial and significant than the Soviet Union, then you have to admit that Reagan only destroyed the number two super power, the Soviet Union, while Obama is striving to bring down the more much more powerful, United States.

I feel the same way. I'm too old with the normal old ailments to be much concerned anymore. The utter total destruction before 2012 comes will be irreversible for many generations. The hope for 2010 will not mean much since there are no real Constitutional conservatives but just politicians as usual. Even if we could take the House without the Senate we are dead in the water. King Obama and his communists Administration did not destroy America, Americans did.

The Rats keep surprising us with some new “impossible” chaos every now and then. Getting the Rats and then Bummer pinned to the mat for the count is by no means impossible, but will be most surely a nip-and-tuck operation.

If we were able to take control of our education system, our graduate school system, and the MEDIA, and remove the communist/socialist/marxist brainwashing that has been going on..... It would take 20 years for us to produce a generation that was free of such notions.

Not sure who said it, but think it applies, “For evil to triumph, all that’s necessary is for good men to fail to act”—I too am a Christian, and believe my personal journey is one of Spiritual warfare. Prayers for you and your family—we are human and may get discouraged every now and then, but we cannot be deterred. God Bless.

Don't worry, your point was taken.
People here care about their fellow FReepers. I'm a bit younger than you and I have been dealing with Leukemia for the past five years. I can only hope to live to your ripe old age, but I don't dwell on it, just like you don't dwell on it.
There are people here who have posted kind words and have me in their thoughts and prayers. Self pity is not a Conservative attribute, fighting the good fight is.
Every day is a gift, and every day we have an opportunity to interact with some wonderful people on this site. We may not always agree, but I know in my heart of hearts that 99% of the people here spend their time and money on FR because they care about the future of our wonderful Country and they know how exceptional, and how rare, the experiment called America has been for over 200 years.
What makes us different than the posters on Daily Kos and Rat Underground is the fact that we do what we do for love of Country, not for attaining power over our fellow Citizens to prove that a failed Ideology will bring nirvana.
Take care and whether you like it or not (LOL), people here are thinking and praying for you. Have a good night FRiend.
